I'd just like some suggestions about my formal dress.
Ok, it might sound vain, but I'd just like some suggestions about formal dress. You see, I havn't worn a dress besides school uniform since i was 8 and attended a wedding - i've always been towards the tomboy-ish side, until high school.
Now I'm in yr 10 and i have my school formal coming up. I've gone around shopping for dresses and havn't been able to really find one which suits me or they're too expensive.
In my gallery, there are two pictures of dresses that I found on Ebay, and they're both finishing their sales tomorrow. I THINK i would fit a size 6 better than the 8, but I'm not quite sure which dress would look better on me.
Any suggestions welcome! THANKYOU IN ADVANCE, and sorry if this offends you or anything.

Thanks for all the suggestions! So peep toe pumps you guys all suggest? Seems good, because funnily enough I have quite.. funny looking toes, so it's good to cover them up haha. Not that people would notice that much anyway.
Thankyou in particular: sngbrdchls77, thanks for the time you spent in your post, I am really grateful for your suggestions :) I have never dressed up , in year 6, my major tomboy year, at graduation I wore cargoes!! Haha, the year after I left they made it compulsory to wear 'formal' attire according to my brother.
You're very welcome saykyoku. I know you are going to have a blast at your formal!!!
I've found that it is usually advantageous to bid as close to the end of the auction as possible. It gives the other guy less time to respond plus auctions with multiple bids seem to get more attention. I usually just wait until ~5 minutes or a little less and then bid the maximum that I would pay. Ebay will only put in enough from your bid to outbid someone else so there's no danger of spending more than is necessary.
A slip is a garment of thin silky material to wear under dresses or skirts so that 1) they won't be see-through, and 2) so that they don't stick to your skin or undies and bunch up. They can be full (sort of like a skimpy sundress) or half (just the skirt).
Original Post by saykyoku:Just asking, would it be a good idea to bid near the end of the item's sale period (in four hours). Or bid now, and bid again if I am outbidded? I am new to internet shopping also haha.
My husband buys all kinds of things on Ebay and he always watches things until they get down to the last minute or so and then bids. He almost always wins the item that way. Also, sometimes there's a "Buy it Now" button where you can just buy the item. Sometimes you end up spending more that way though.
Also I, as well, would go with the peep toe pumps.

I hope I don't sound silly, but what is a slip?
Here's an example. The link shows a half slip (bottom only). This is a full slip.
You wear them under a dress or skirt and it helps take care of the see-through problem. They come in different colors, so if you found a black dress you like, you could get a black slip. It's basically a liner for your dress.
Oohh. Now I see what a slip is! Thank's for the explanations and pictures! Hmm, it should come in handy =)!
OH , by the way!
I WON THE DRESS!
It was quite scary, i was refreshign the page many times in the last 30 seconds, because somebody else was trying to outbid me!!
Luckily they didn't pass my maximum bid!
Yay, thanks to all again, I shall have fun at my formal! And i'll probably go looking for peep toe shoes next weekend after i receive my dress ;) all your suggestions will come in handy!
