So much for that idea....glad the holidays are OVER!
We have 2 big days....Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Christmas eve was OK, ran on treadmill for 500 calories. Probably ate my limit...maybe a bit over. Today Christmas Day, different story. No time for workout and I ATE MY FACE OFF! I feel SOOO guilty. I also feel that I may feel better once I use the restroom (sorry TMI) but WOW the guilt I feel is over whelming. AND to boot, it is TTOM so double whammey! I am trying SO hard not to weigh myself until TTOM is over! I'm just hoping and praying that at MOST i put on 2 lbs.
I'm so happy the holidays are over. Routine is the key for success for me. Once I haVe a routine going, I stick to it like GLUE!
Anyone else in this situation?
~H~
I didn't do too bad. I ate the snacks, but planned them in my calorie allowance.
The holidays aren't really over though, since we still have New Year's eve. That's another big day for food here.
I just ate waaaay more than I should have as well. I had two Christmas meals. I did pretty good for lunch. But then before dinner my family has all the snacks out and I ate a bunch of breads and dips. And then for dinner I went back for seconds. I feel so crappy now. BBBUUUUTTTT......it's over.
I am exactly the same way about routine. I can stick to a routine no problem. So I now have to go visit my father for 5 days and try to stay on track, even though I know I won't be losing any weight. And then New Year's Eve will be ridiculous. And after all of that, it's back to the routine. I can't wait for that. I need my routine.
The last three days, I went an average of 1083 calories over my burn each day. It's going to be a busy couple of weeks at the gym. Dips and desserts were my downfall.
same here, SO HAPPY its over. had 3 christmas meals over the past 3 days and have literally gained 12 pounds!!! but whatever. im just going to call it water weight, eat right and not starve myself so i can keep up my metabolism and lose the weight the right way! ill pass it off for what it was-the holidays. and even if i feel like death right now i know in a couple days ill be back to normal, and i enjoyed it MUCH more than if i was worrying about every bite and counting every calorie!
Sorry. I'm still UNDER my calories. Yesterday I was so busy baking, I had no room and no time to make anything sensible to eat. I had two cookies, one with sugar and one without (tasting a new recipe, basically), a bite of a brownie, a chunk of spice cake (think a heaping spoon size), a handful of white chocolate chips which made me nauseous, so I drank a ton of vanilla coffee, and finally, after all the baking was done, the presents were wrapped, the food was packed, and the kitchen was clean, I had a piece of bread and some water.
And then today I had tanin donburi (think steak and eggs over rice), another spoonful of that spice cake, a bite of ham, a bite of scalloped potatoes, and a meatball. Oh, and even more vanilla coffee. Today I'm pretty close to my limit at 850 calories, but I'm hoping I can kill off the rest in gulps of milk.
For those of us who ate too much, how long until it's reflected on the scale? I haven't gained after three days of gluttonous eating and I want to know when to expect the surprise.
Gah I've had three awful days (around 3500 cals each) and have gained 9lbs! I don't think it could all be fat, because as messed up as my metabolism is, if I didn't burn a thing over those days, I would've only gained 3lbs, so fingers crossed now I'm climbing back on the horse, the scales will return to normal pretty quickly...
I seriously doubt you could gain two pounds because of one or two days...that would mean you went 7,000 calories over maintenance.
Eat a cup of Fiber One cereal each day for a few days and your weight will probably be down! LOL! The stuff works!!
I went waayyy over my calorie limit. I decided to weigh and gained about 3 lbs this past week. I am on a strict 1,500/day calorie diet so I can take off 10 lbs by Feb. Desserts are a BIG problem for me. I sent all my holiday food out the door with my guests. Now, it's back to fruit, rice cakes, and treadmill running.
Those people who gained, uh, "multiple" pounds in the last few days take heart - it's probably mostly water weight. The "bad" foods usually contain lots of sodium, remember, which forces your body to retain water to compensate.
In order to gain a pound in a day you'd need to eat 3500 calories over your maintenance level - probably around 6000 calories in total, which is the equivalent of almost a pound and a half of pure butter or lard. Mmm!
gcbragg, thanks for the voice of reason.
Absolutely! I was fully prepared that Christmas day would be a bad day, and I ate lots, but not ridiculous amounts. I was planning Boxing day to get back in track, but ended up having another bad day and ate loads of chocolates at about 11:00 at night after a good day. So I am feeling crap. Today however, has gone well, and I have only gained 1lb, hopefully just in water weight and by tomorrow or saturday I will be back to my original weight. I am staying positive, yes the last 2 days were bad, but it was the festive cheer and anyway, if you can't at this time of year then when can you! All back to normal now, so it is fine!
I gained 3 pounds this past week, basically on Christmas and then leftovers the next day. I'm now back to my normal routine.
