I have no idea what I'm doing - please help?!
[edit] I'm changing this entire post so that what I'm asking for makes more sense.
The Burn Meter on this site says I burn 2470 calories during the typical day. That doesn't make sense, because on the first page of that calculator, it says that it is to tell how many you need each day. So does that mean the number I need and the number I burn is equal?
And the Calories Needed for Goal Weight Loss says that I need to take in 1,513 calories daily to meet my goal weight of 130 by June of 2010.
If someone could please just tell me the specific amount of calories that I need to eat, and the specific amount I need to burn through exercise (i.e., not burned idly.)
These numbers all confuse me and I don't know how to use them. Supposedly I need to burn 1,000 more than I take in to lose 2lbs per week, but for some reason that still doesn't help me figure this out.
Based on the numbers I gave, could someone please give me specific numbers for what I need (how many calories do I need to eat each day, and how many do I need to burn through exercise?)
I was confused too.
My Dr. did a metabolism test, it gave me the amount of calories I burn in a day. I think there are calculators online to give you a rough estimate. there is even one on this site I think.
So if you burn 2250 a day, you need to eat 500 less than that to lose, 1750.
Just don't eat too little and be sure to get a balance of foods so you don't end up with a vitamin deficiency!
Thank you. :) So I eat 500 calories less, but how much do I need to burn?
Start by figuring how much you burn just in your normal life (using the tools on this site - one tool is called "burn meter") and then add in any additional exercise you do - that's how much you burn.
You, and anyone else who's confused, might do well to read the stickied post at the top of the Weight Loss Forum:

That tells me how much I burn on my own, but I'm trying to find out how much I need to burn in order to lose weight.
You need to burn more than you eat - that's it.
If you burn 2000 calories and you eat 1500, you can lose about a pound a week.
If you burn 2200 calories and you eat 1700, you'll still lose about a pound a week.
I really recommend going into that post, and reading some of the links - especially The New and Improved Calorie-Count "Diet"
Okay, I've got it. Thank you. :)
I'm actually already looking at that link. Thanks again.
