An idea to increase your positivity!
In recovery from anorexia, I've found that at time it's really easy to be completely enveloped by negative, depressing, and self-depreciating thoughts. Those trigger a relapse, which cause more negative thoughts, and the destructive cycle continues.
Lately, however, I've been listening to the radio 24/7! It's helped me so incredibly much on the positivity front that I've made more progress in recovery these past two weeks than I have in the past three months. I highly recommend, if you're struggling with staying positive, to tune into a radio station on your computer or on your radio. Look for a station that plays tons of positive, happy, upbeat, uplifting songs—I listen to a Christian one. At first, you'll probably think it's just annoying, but stick with it—it really sinks in that life is about more than this, and it helps so much!
Just a thought, and I hope anyone struggling will try it! :)
I listen to the radio a lot (even through the computer) for this reason too. Sometimes to upbeat stations, sometimes to news/current times broadcasts (I like to stay up to date on things, and it reminds me there are bigger things in the world than me), sometimes to stand up. >> Stand up is always good if you feel down.
Great idea! I'll have to try this one out. I'm going to tune into the Christian station (no wonder my sister listens to the Christian station all the time! She always calls back with helpful advice and things she learned from the station). Thanks and good luck on your recovery!
