What would be the ideal daily nutrition balance based on 1200 calories

Quote  |  Reply

Just wondering if there is a standard chart that I could reference that could provide me with the approppriate category nutrition levels based on 1200 calorie days.

Apologize if I am not properly communicating my question here.  Wish to know what an approppriate daily value intake should be for the standard nutrition categories (e.g., Fat, Cholesterol, Sodium etc).

Thanking you in advance,

Lee

Hi Lee and welcome!

Have you used to tools to make sure that 1200 calories is the right amount for you? (there is a surprising tendency to eat too little when trying to lose weight, which isn't really healthy at all)

Most medical authorities suggest that you get less than 200 mg of cholesterol per day and less than 1200 mg of sodium per day (assuming that you are healthy and have no illnesses or medical conditions)

The amount of fat that you consume should be 20-30% of your daily calories and should be mostly monounsaturated or polyunsaturated - less than 10% should be saturated and none of it should be transfat.

For a calorie level of 1200 per day, this would mean you would eat 240 to 360 calories of fat per day or 26 to 40 grams, and less than 12 grams should be saturated.

Also, if you like, take a look at one of my favorite posts, an oldie but a goodie, to see how there's more to fat loss than calories in calories out.

Again, welcome and we'll see you round the boards!

Smile
