Welcome to the "Ideal Weight By Christmas Challenge"!
This is a limited group and it is now closed. If you have already signed up here. please use this forum to post your weekly weigh ins.
Here are the rules for this challenge.
- Your goal must be to reach your ideal goal weight no later than Christmas week.
- Weigh in will be on Fridays.
- Once a week I will post the results in this original post. (Please note, I have an unpredictable work schedule because I deliver babies. So I will make every effort to post the results each Saturday but if I am late, I will get it done as soon as possible.)
- Please use the format below to post your goals. PLEASE edit your ORIGINAL post each week! Do NOT repost each week. This will keep the list easier for everyone to keep up with and read each week.
- If you wish to add comments, please add them after the weigh in information and date your comments.
- If you want to chat, you may do so after everyone has posted the first time so the weigh in posts will all be grouped together. I'll post the first chat to let you all know when this has occurred.

My name's Noy. I'm 27, 5'3" and weighs 132lbs. I have two beautiful children, ages 9 and 5, Ethan an Kaylin (in that order). I originally set to attain my goal by Jan 2nd, my 28th birthday. I'd rather lose it before then so I could already be looking good for my birthday. This is a great challenge to help motivate all of us. Thanks!!!
9/19/08 I feel good so far. However, just before posting I had a lunch date with my husband. We were pressed for time, so we decided to go to Chick-Fil-A. I've been so good, but I'm hating myself right now. I scarfed down some of the waffle fries and feeling sick. Plus, right after work, we're heading to the Braves game tonight (hotdogs, fries, burger, and BEER...AHHHH!). I have a love/hate relationship with the weekends. ![]()
9/26/08 Not a single pound lost. On the brighter side, at least I didn't gain. The cause is lack of exercise. With such a busy week, longer commute due to traffic at the gas stations (gas shortage), waiting in line myself for gas, and attending after school functions, I never got a chance to fit in my workouts. I am going to have to do twice as much for the next week to be on track in reaching my ideal goal weight. Actually I need to do twice as much for the rest of the time. Considering the holidays are right around the corner.![]()
10/3/08 This must be the great plateau everyone has been talking about.![]()
10/17/08 I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm under the 130 mark. This is where I usually start to get comfortable and my efforts fall apart. I won't let it happen this time. My personal goal is to try and lose at least 2lbs per week from now on.

My name is Vari. I am 32 years old, 5'4" and have been cc'ing since June 26th.. I have so far lost a little over 11 lbs. I'm excited about this challenge!
09/12 - Ready to go!
09/19 - This is my third week at 161 - I cannot figure out what is going on with my weight! I have been exercising 4 - 5 times a week and have been eating very healthy, averaging about 1500 cals per day (deficits of 400 - 800 cals on any given day)... so I don't know why the scale is not moving.. gotta keep trying, though!
09/26 - Can I just say I love this? so I had a little plateau and broke it this week.. and the weight is catching up! I'm sure it will slow down to 1 or 1.5 a week like before but I am super happy with the 3 lbs loss! hope everyone else is doing great!
10/03 - Not bad... A 1lbs loss this week. I really, really am looking forward to seeing 155 on the scale.. so, that's my mini goal for the next couple of weeks. Good luck to everyone else!

10/17 - no great loss to report... I'm possibly retaining water because of TTOM and my new workout (NROLFW).. I am looking forward to next week's post hoping to see a drop! Good luck everyone!
10/24 - still no change.. don't know what's going on.
10/31 - so I figured out that my TOM cycle causes my weight loss to stall the week of and after it arrives but then drops on the third week. This certainly explains the 4 lbs loss this week! so I won't worry about it anymore.. it's all good!
11/07 - not much to comment on. I am the same weight as last week which I guess is better than gaining. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
11/14 - sorry for the late reply! I had a wedding yesterday and didn't get a chance to post...
11/28 - hmmm... I'm fiercely hanging onto the weight! I was really hoping to see 145 this month but I don't think I'll even make it past 150! I would be happy with 149 but we'll see...
12/05 - well, good news is I finished the month just under 150! the weight is slowly moving along... I'm wondering if I should change my routine to avoid another little plateau. I really would like to see 145 by the end of this month! Christmastime would normally be a problem (sweets kill me!) but I'm going to spend it alone this year so I'll only be cooking for one! and will make sure it's healthy.. we'll see..
12/12 - sorry for the late weigh in! It's TOM and I haven't been diligent about my exercising or eating as healthy as possible... I need to get back on track!
12/19 - I'm happy with the loss!
12/25 - I didn't weigh in this morning, so I posted yesterday's weight.. It's the end of the challenge!

15/09/08 - I weighed in when I got home on Sunday and it turns out that I'd lost 2 more pounds than I thought I had, so YAY! Let's hope I've lost more when I step on the scales on Friday.
19/09/08 - Yes I am very miserable today. Not only have I not lost, I have put ON weight. :-( First day of period today though, so might have something to do with it...

03/10/08 - YAY! I'm going to try extra hard this week - I'm despserate to see myself under 140...it has been SO long! Keep up the good work folks! x
10/10/08 - Tut. I knew I wasn't going to loose this week :-( But at least I haven't put on! Once my dissertation is in next Friday I will be able to concentrate on exercising more.
17/10/08 - Sorry for late post. I decided not to weigh in this week. I submitted my dissertation for my Masters and was very happy but knew I would have put on weight thanks to the solid 2 weeks of sitting in front of a computer and stress-eating so didn't want to put a dampener on my high by confirming my suspicions!
24/10/08 - Oh god this is so depressing. Back to square one. I knew this would happen. Will have to get right back on it again.

week #1 Have been sick. Hoping for the best but have been on a plateau.
week #2 Broke plateau & feeling a lot better.
week #3 I started at CC May 23, 2008 weighing in at 181.6 as of today I have lost 35 pounds. This is my third weight loss challenge.
week #4 Just a little loss this week. Thanksgiving dinner Monday so will not expect a loss next week, but would be very happy to see one.
week #5 Excellent, not only did I not gain, I lost 3 pounds this week. I added 20 extra minutes of cardio/weght lifting 3 times this week to compensate for turkey day.
week #6 No change on the scale. I took 3 days of eating maintenance with no exercise, then I went back to my regular workout with increased weights. Some of the exercises are doubled in weight. We will see what these changes will bring. I worked my arms to failure. If I had to do even one girls pushup I probably would have fallen & broken my nose.
week #7 Well, not much but I'll take it. I had been high in sodium earlier in the week (unusual for me). At least I got rid of the water. Wonder how next week will go.
week #8 I joined an exercise challenge. Participants are required to do a minimum of 20 minutes (one level) per day using the 30 Day Shred DVD. I did not substitute it in, I added it onto my regular workout routine.
week #9 Added some of the harder levels into the mix (30 Day Shred DVD). Bumped up my exercise by 2 1/2 this week. Will look at increasing weights in the next week or two. I noticed that I was more tired (not enough sleep) which in turn affected my food choices ie: too much sodium & too many simple carbs (breads). I will have to pay closer attention to this.
week #10 Increased my weights & reduced the amount of time spent exercising. I have been under the weather (have a cold). My weight has been all over the place this week. I guess I won't have a true number until I'm feeling a little better.
week #11 It's been a tough week with work & life in general taking up so much time that there hasn't been much "me" time to exercise & eat right. *kicks self in the ass* Party is over. Get selfish & do it for myself. I deserve to be the best I can be.
week #12 Does anyone else have a "vampire" in their life? You know the one I mean, they work less than you, but the minute you get home from work they phone & want to talk for an hour, 6 -7 days a week (that isn't even an exaggeration). I find I'm already stressed out before I get home. For crying out loud, I have a "cordless phone" not a "hands-free" one. I can't seem to get anything done in the time frame that I have available. I'm not about to give up sleep.*I can't believe this...while I'm typing this, the vampire phoned....
week #13 Down 1.4 pounds this week. Today is cheat day (oh no...I had waaaay too much sodium today). *looks into crystal ball & sees a bloated belly with a massive amount of glasses of water* I had absolutely no control today, that's not a good thing.
week #14 Christmas baking.....need I say more?
week # 15 another challenge over. I'm slacking until the start of the new year & then it is time to get right back at it. Merry Christmas everyone.

9/26: Not much to show for having the stomach virus... funny thing once you can put food and water back into your body how fast it bounces back... Now if I can just get over my cold too...URGH.
10/3: The Scale gods have been nice to me this week...WHOOO HOO. I am still sick...Offically have broncitis and asthma exacerbation (means the asthma kicked in from all the coughing..)
10/10: I have felt like a yoyo all week up a pound or two down a pound or two..I am so happy Friday fell on the down swing...![]()
10/17: I'm slipping a little about logging my food...but I have a good idea on portion size now...I am glad to see my procrastination hasn't effected the scales...

11/21:Happy birthday to me....It snowed today...earliest snow I think and first time it ever snowed on b-day..nice treat. I'm Leanne and I'm 37. I started CC in February and I have lost 45lbs. Everything is moving very slowly at this point. I was hoping to lose it by Halloween but at this rate I'll take Christmas with a smile! If I reach it sooner then I'll be here to maintain.
9/12- I must be PMS I've gained 2lbs over night. So now I have 13 to lose! Maybe this way I'll get to see a nice drop for next Friday. I just want my trend line to move again my weight was this at the end of July!
9/19 I'm at a new low! I lost the 2lbs + 1.4lbs! I'm hoping this is the end of the plateau. I'm going to follow every ones advice and work hard and never do the same thing twice!
9/26 I'm happy that I'm down but for 2 days this week I was at 127.6. I must have been dehydrated. Either way I hope to that number again soon.
10/2 Had a ton of food the last few days including lots of chocolate cake, ice cream and beer. I'm heading out of town for the weekend so I'm checking in early. I should be back on track by next Friday.
10/10 TTOM But drinking all the water and tea has helped with no bloat!
10/17 Still going down from the eating clean. My computer died this morning so I'm at the library.

I'm in! My name is Melanie. I am going to be 30 in 18 days (YUCK). I have 2 awesome sons who are trying to help me get active. I have been a dieter on and off since I had my first son 10 yrs ago. Hopefully this time it's for good.
9/24/08- South Beach always worked for me because I am insulin resistant and a doctor suggested it. I am doing a mix between phase 1 and 2, depending on what food I'm in the mood for and still keeping my calories between 1200-1300. I already feel better not so bloated lets hope for a good weigh in so i don't give up.
9/26/08- I'm sure it was actually more. Darn Bdays and darn making cupcakes for school. haha. I am back to being motivated again thou. Been much better with the walking actually get upset if I can't go. Next week goal is to do my full 2 miles everyday no matter what excuses I have! Especially since my bday is tues and i will be BAD BAD BAD! I'm sure.

I'm 28, married, no kids yet, and enjoy running. I've been very slowly breaking the cycle of binge eating and am trying to get down a a low/normal weight for my height (5'6") while beginning to train for a February marathon. I'm trying to take the last few pounds off slowly (2-4 per month) and I would love the accountability and support. Count me in!
9/19- Feeling really discouraged. No matter what I seem to do my weight doesnt go down long term. I don't understand how when I go over my calories for a day my weight goes up a few pounds, but when I consistently log a deficit... nothing. I keep going down to 128, up to 129... I feel like I'm on a teeter-totter! Good thing I have until Christmas!
9/26- realized today that my body composition might be affecting my weight loss. When I was tested back in May I had 16-17% body fat. That gives me about 22 pounds of fat to work with, some of which I really need, since I'm a woman! If I want to lose weight but want to keep my muscle maybe the weight just doesn't come off as fast? I have no idea. I've had a decent calorie deficit over the month (about 11,000 calories so far), but have not seen the scale move. Does anyone have ideas as to how to tweak my diet? I really would like to get down to around 120, but I obviously don't want to crash diet and lose lean body mass!

Hi I'm 27 been divorced since April. I've lost 20 pounds so far just being away from my ex husband. I've had to learn how to eat healthy all over again and not over fill myself at every meal. Oh yeah and I just quit smoking too. So this is a great time to dive in and get it done before the 28th birthday.
9-19 Feeling great exercising now for 2 weeks straight, but so sore can't walk without legs hurting. Lost 1/2 inch on my waist and 1/2 inch on my hips.
9-26 Feeling no so great, was sick this week but didn't lose my appetite. How the heck does that work? I was pretty bad with beer consumption this week, too. Will not give up, try again today right. It usually takes 6 weeks of exercise to see real results anyway.
10-13 I decided to go off of my diet. I was doing much better by not dieting and just eating healthy. So hopefully that will help me.
10-31 I am trying to stay away from candy....not doing so good so far.
11-22 I didn't so good from staying away from the candy. I had to put my dog down because of cancer and I ate myself sick. I am back on track but I'm not sure if I'll hit my goal weight by Christmas. I am hoping that I lose another 10 pounds though. I figured out how my body likes to lose, so I am still hopeful.

Hello all, i am so glad for this oppartunity. I am 28 years old, married, no children yet ( started to try two month ago), i really would like to lose 10 to 15 pounds, i am 5'9 and i am within my normal weight, but for me the perfect weight is when i am around 130-136 lb.

9/15- This weekend was kind of bad, i went to a wedding, so needless to say i lost calorie count after the first appetiser, i hope to do good this week, to make up for it

This was a tough week. I have fallen so far off my good eating habits that I had gained 8 pounds this summer. I managed to get through the whole week without having a glass of wine which helped a lot - but had to resist a lot of danish and doughnuts due to lots of meetings at work. I was so glad that we are checking in every Friday - so I felt somewhat accountable. Nine more to go!!! Good luck to everyone -- yay for us - we are all going to be knockouts by Christmas.

Whew - it was tough to stick with this. Its a good thing we have this challenge. The idea of signing in today was responsible for me not grabbing a yummy dessert quite a bit. I am going to be extra careful tonight and try to not go too far over my calorie limit - headed to the basement to exercise before work. Good luck everyone.

Staying the course - but it seems like I should have lost more. My sister is coming up for the weekend - so I hope I don't undo all the progress I've made so far. I am glad I found this challenge - it makes me thing twice (or three or four times!!!) before straying far from my diet plan. Hope everyone does well this week. Have a fun weekend.

10/17 - Everyone seems to be doing so well and some of you have really lost at great rates - hooray - As for me I am back to my 117 of October 3rd. Disappointed that I can't seem to keep on track. Going to the gym today though so I am hoping that helps. I just joined a new gym that opened up yesterday. I can get motivated! Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi, Sandra here. I’m 58, widowed (2 y. ago, after 36 years of marriage), and have two grown daughters (34 and 27)…no grandchildren, yet (there’s hope!). I live on a farmette (5+ acres) near Lexington, KY with 2 dogs and 2 cats. I finished a degree program & internship and am beginning an effort to find a job as an RD (registered dietitian). My house is under renovation at the moment, so I’m living in a barn (for real!). I hope to be able to move into my “new” bedroom and have a kitchen again by Thanksgiving. As you can see, I’ve got numerous obstacles: figuring out what to eat that’s not frozen in a box…So, I figure if I can lose weight under these conditions, then I’ll have developed a tool kit of sorts.
Sorry I'm a tad late signing in...wedding to do for the last 3 days.
