What would you say my ideal weight is? I need help please!

Female

16

5'5"

160lbs

Medium Bone structure

Okay, so I wanted to get down to roughly 130lbs. On paper this within the boundaries for a healthy weight for my stats - in person it's another matter. I was talking to my dad about it and he was saying if I reached that weight I'd look awful because my bone structure just isn’t built for that kind of weight (although he's 100% with me for losing some weight) so, what I need to know is...is there anyone out there with similar stats who has a clear idea of what weight I should be setting as my goal? Thanks for your help.

You are tall so you carry weight diffrently.  To be honest your only 16, as long as your getting out in the sun on weekends, going out and playing with friends and such I think that 150-160 is perfict.

The best thing to think about is how do you feel personaly?  When i was your age i was 5'3" 125lbs and hated my body, then i got pregnant at 16 and went up to 270lbs and hated myself worse, im now at 201lbs but now i have learned to love myself and im not so insecure.

Dont worry too much about numbers, your not over weight, if losing a few pounds will make you feel better about yourself then go ahead, but at your weight and height id say look at yourself not your numbers.

Just reevaluate as you get closer to your ideal.

I'm 5'6 and 130, but I can't say 130 would look the same on you.

When I was your age, I had similar stats. I was probably about 130 and my mom was convinced I wasn't eating enough so maybe I was too thin for my frame. I would aim for losing 10% of your weight (so down to 144) and then reevaluating how you feel and how you look.

I agree with most, evalutate yourself as you're losing and when you get comfortable and healthy enough stop.

my stats: 5'5 3/4 goal weight 140, current weight 144or2, starting weight 160+

You'll know when you get there, you'll be in your underthings or a bikini and think "dang I look good" Laughing or "this is the best I've looked in a while"

I'm also 5'5 3/4", and I'm happy being around 140 lbs.  I work out a lot so I have a good body fat percent and am fairly toned.  I don't think I could go much lower and be able to maintain it.  I think you'll know when you get there what's right for you:)  Most importantly is how you feel, and if you are healthy and fit.  Hope that helps!

A 65-inch tall, 160-pound, 16-year-old girl has a body mass index (BMI) of 26.7, which is at the 91st percentile for age. This suggests that this girl is at risk of being overweight.
A healthy weight range for this particular girl would be from about 107-pounds to 148-pounds.

I think 130 would be GREAT - especially cause of your age.  At 16 - you should be able to be skinny and look GOOD.  As you get older it will be harder to lose and also you will not look so good skinny - hollow cheeks.  I think at 16 you can be as skinny as you can get., as long as it is HEALTHY losing... eating the right mixes of food.

The lower weight will prepare you for weight later in life.

First of all, I think it's so neat how you have support from your dad, and how he's looking out for you. :) Honestly, I'd take it five pounds at a time.  You really have to take your bone structure into account. First just start off in the high healthy bmi for your height, then see if you feel good at that weight, and take it from there. Good luck.  You'll do great! :)

well, i've heard from multiple sources that a person that's 5-feet tall should weigh around 100 lbs, and to add on 5 lbs for every inch. if you're 5'5.. your "ideal weight" would be about 125 lbs, but seeing as you're medium-framed, you should add an extra 5 lbs to account for that. i'd say 130-135 would be great for you!

I also wasnt sure what my goal weight should be. I was going back and forth from 130 to 150 lbs. Then someone in the lounge forum posted about this virtual model that allows you to put in your height and adjust your weight. So you can play around with the numbers and see what looks right for you. Of course, you wont look exactly like the model when you reach that weight, but it might give you a better idea for your goal weight. When I did it, I ironically settled on 140 lbs, because 130 seemed too unrealistic and I wasnt satisfied with 150 lbs.

You can either google virtual model or search through the threads in the lounge forum. Good Luck!
