What is my ideal weight?
Asked by anonymous on Oct 17, 2008 in Weight Loss

I am a 48 years young male. My height is 172 cm. What is my ideal weight?

Answer

Consult a BMI (Body Mass Index) chart to find your ideal weight. The healthy weight range spans from BMI 19 to BMI 25. The wide range accounts for both genders and individuals of all shapes. Start at the middle of the range and work up or down from there. Men usually prefer the mid-point to the top and women often prefer the middle to the bottom, but bone structure and muscle mass make all the difference. A large-boned, muscular person should be near, or slightly above, the top, whereas a small-boned young woman might feel best at BMI 19-20. For you, at 172 cm (5’7.5”), an acceptable weight is somewhere between 57 – 73 kg (125 - 160 lb).

Not All Processed Foods Are Created Equal
Fact: a diet containing whole, fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the best for a healthy mind and body. Although true, it can be hard to keep food fresh at home for longer periods of time, and if you have no time to shop every few days, boxed and canned foods become appealing. We often hear about heavily processed frozen dinners and processed foods worth avoiding, but there are minimally processed foods that do pack a lot of nutrition and may be worth having in the fridge or cupboard.
