Ideas for Peanut Butter..

Ok, first of all.. I tried "Better N Peanut Butter" or whatever this morning. I was not impressed. It didn't taste like peanut butter and kind've made me feel ill. Needless to say, it's in my trash can and I'm sticking with all 169 calories of my regular "Naturally More" peanut butter.

 Anyways.. I wanted to get some ideas of how other people use peanut butter?

I love it on bananas, apples and pears when it comes to fruit; celery and carrots as far as vegetables go; and oatmeal. How else do you make use of your peanut butter?

 Eating it straight from the spoon doesn't count!

THe whole thing is less than 100 cals and it taste like all peanut butter without all the cals and fat, the cream cheese just makes it go a little further it seem! Try it and let me know what you think..

I wonder if instead of cream cheese, you could use low fat Ricotta cheese (which I'm slightly obsessed with..). I may have to try this. I like the idea of making the peanut butter go "farther" though in the way of getting the most out of your calories.. haha.

Hi April mae, Peanut Butter & Co's Dark Chocolate Dream?  Sounds interesting.  Where can you I go to buy it?  Would love to try it (as many others here I am a Peanut Butter Addict!  :+)  )

Yes, my favorite breakfast is Peanut Butter (I use Smart Balance, or a natural peanut butter and sometimes mix it with the Better N-Peanut butter if I need to take in less calories for the day) with whole wheat toast or whole grain muffin.  I put in on right away so it is melty heaven.  Yummerful! 

You can make it go futher with a few recipes i've found where you mix it with butter beans or chickpeas. I havent tried but they sound ok

mmmm I make the BEST low-cal PB satay sauce, if I do say so myself! You mix 2T peanut butter (regular or natural, it doesn't really matter, but I like natural), 1/2c plain yogurt, 1t rice vinegar, 1t crushed red pepper flakes, and 2 packets raw sugar (or probably about 1t, I don't know exactly what that comes to) and whisk it all together until it stops being lumpy. Microwave it for about 30 secs (don't let it boil!!!) and it's done! You can add more PB or yogurt to taste, or some more/less pepper to adjust the spice. So good! I like it on apples, carrots, and pretzels best, but this one can also be used for meats and chicken. Wow. Just wow. I'm a PB addict, and definitely the authority on using it for every single possible meal! 

I don't eat it anymore because I know there is still too much fat in it and I am not forced to eat it anymore, but my best suggestion, no matter how you like to have it, get the natural stuff where the oil separates, be careful not to shake it when bringing home from the store, then open and pour out ALL the oil possible.  Also, before eating blot well with a paper towel or Kleenex to get rid of a bit more fat, if it gets too dry, just add a teeny bit of water or skim milk and mix well.  Microwaving lightly makes it easier too!  I say, if there is any possible way to decrease fat and calories in ANY food you like - then do it!!

peanut butter on oreos is heaven...peanut butter cups...

i melt a tablespoon of peanut butter and pour it over a cup of rice crispies (could use special k instead).

its kind of like a warm version of a rice crispy square.. very yummy.

ooh i like to take a tbs of skippy natural (no hydrogenated oils! yay!)--works best with creamy-- and spread it in 1/2 a sara lee pita pocket, then microwave for 30 seconds. it makes the pita a little bit crispy, and the pb melts perfectly.

yumyumyum makes me hungry already. only 174 calories

 Oh my gosh, that is one of my favorite snacks!  It almost tastes like Girl Scout Cookie Tag-a-Longs, but without the chocolate.

I also enjoy PB on almost any type of Eggo waffle for breakfast :)

O.o actually I just remembered that when I was about eight or nine my dad used to make peanut butter, because I guess it was cheaper, Skippy was a 'treat' since it was imported, I guess...

Anyway he basically just took a big bag of salted, shelled peanuts and whizzed them up in the blender...I don't know if you have to add other stuff...but it tasted soooo good! It doesn't work if the peanuts aren't salted before, the saltedness definately made it delicious - plus it wasn't weirdly sweet like some commercialized peanut butter. It was really runny though...maybe thats just cuz the climate was so hot where we lived. Anyway. Peanut butter on homemade bread.. it was the tastiest stuff!!

i love better n peanutbutter! the low sodium kind. it doesn't really taste like peanutbutter but it's sweet & i like it! i also love salty original peanut butter, too. i'm a pb addict! i like it on apples the most, then carrots and celery, and on bananas, and on toast. i love it on everything!
