I'll be damned, they fit!!!!
Hello fellow CCers I am pretty new to the site (only one month), but I am sure hooked.
In one month I have lost a little over ten pounds, am learning a healthy relationship with food and feel fantastic.
Today has been a little trying for reasons I cannot put a finger to. I have wanted to graze like a grass fed milk cow non-stop. Just when i thought all was lost and everything not tied down was going to land on my thighs I had an idea.
I opened my closet and pulled out every pair of jeans I intend on not only fitting into, but look smokin' hot in.
First i just looked at them mounding in the middle of my living room like a denim haystack.
Moo!
They were taunting me like they have in the past, "Oh right like you're going to wedge that ass into the likes of us" they sneered.
Moo!
Instead of putting them away and forgetting they exist with some really bad food choices while stating some negative mantra to myself till my heart ached I did the unimaginable....I started to try them on.
One by one I noticed how some I could almost zip the zipper without crying out in pain, but my fellow CCers some not only zipped, but were in fact loose.
I was on fire running back to the closet for more, cataloging which ones I could start wearing, ones I needed to work towards, and yes, ones that needed to be retired to the goodwill or trash bin.
I am so grateful for this site, for those who share their stories, and for this moment of inspiration to continue my quest to find a smaller me.
Oh, and thanks for letting me drone on.......
I love when I get to fit in my old clothes! I still need to loose some though before I do. lol but I am determined as well to fit into them!
That's awesome! You just wait until you get to go jean shopping and you realize you can fit into the size you've been wanting to get back to for the past 8 years!
Congrats, Congrats, Congrats!!!
Congratulations! :)
I remember the first time that, in a closing store, when asked "Is everything ok?" I had to answer "Well... Would you have this in a smaller size?" :D Such a good feeling! :D
Nice to hear such positive feedback!
I can't wait till my closet truly reflects a new me instead of being a creepy time capsule filled with the ghosts of diets past.
Joellerousseau: Thank you for your enthusiasm means so much, and it won't be long before your old clothes are new clothes!!!!!
Karefreeman: I can imagine the look on your face was exactly like mine when you pulled those jeans on. I am tickled to have inspired you in some small way to go for it.
Allikat85 & Petite_chicago: the thought of going shopping and asking for a smaller size than imagined will be an amazing day and I really am inspired to get there.
Oh, what a wonderful story! You know what's amazing? It's this type of victory you never hear discussed in those diet commercials on TV. It's always "it was nice going shopping in the normal sized section" or "I didn't have to go to specialty stores." It's never the rummaging through old clothes.
I'm in college and started losing weight six months ago. I'll never forget my first time rummaging in the closet, too. I wanted to compare how far I needed to go before I could fit into some old clothes and BAM! I could actually wear clothes I wore in middle school (and sadly, my style hasn't changed in ten years, so I can wear them publicly).
Now, I will wear these clothes outside and it's just a constant reminder that "hey, you're doing it."
I have a question, though, did you go through your closet and throw out your bigger clothes and start wearing the smaller ones?
Congrats! You've earned the right to be proud of yourself!
Old clothes are a huge motivator for me, and I'm looking forward to the day when I can wear my old business suits again
Way to go! I really like those good little 'surprise' moments. Somehow it's even better than when I have something I want to fit into and I keep trying it on.
Actually, unless it is old, I won't buy something 'a little tight' hoping to fit into it soon. Somehow it has the opposite effect from the motivation I'm looking for. Now I do get motivation from WANTING to buy something and having to wait to buy it until it fits. It's always something on sale and it just drives me crazy that someone else might get it first!
Wow, I had no idea there were others as excited as I am about old clothes coming out of the closet and back into the rotation.
Yea!!!
perfectpanda: Congrats to you! Having those jeans be loose must have been quite a boost!
taurineblood: You're right I have never seen a weight loss success commercial with the discovery of ones own closet. I think one would be fun, quirky and so inspiring. To your question on if I get rid of the fat clothes...Yes I donate the ones worth saving and turn into shop rags or trash the real lost causes. With jeans I cut the bottom of the legs off, hem and make gift bags for wine.
joanne811, cynthb: Thank You!
chris1208: Ha! I can't by the small size for inspiration either. I never thought of using the not wanting others to own it as a motivator, so I'm totally stealing the idea from you LOL!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
