I'll Have Fries With That, Thanks

Quote  |  Reply

I may be going out to eat fast food today. :) Spare me all the replies along the lines of "the power of Christ compels you for eating fast food", please. :P

Either I'm going to Tim Horton's or I may be going to have a burger and fries somewhere. I was wondering...

When you order a combo at a fast food place (a burger and fries), what size is the fries?

I'm thinking it's a medium because at McDonald's the fries that come with the combo are half the size of the large, but still bigger than the small fries. I haven't eaten a burger and fries in almost a year or so, though, and I'm not often found anywhere near a fast food resturant... so help me out here, please! :)

Edit: //I need to know this so I can record the proper calories. :P Recording the wrong size can set me nearly 200 over my calorie intake.

i don't understand why you're asking this. Why does it matter what size fries you get?  As far as I can tell in the US, fastfood only comes in three sizes anyway: huge, enormous or gargantuan.

Enjoy the fries, by the way. Once in a blue moon does not a diet ruin.

Ask for a nutrional information sheet. I got one from McDonalds and it included the calorie counts, fat grams etc.
I know what the nutrition facts for each size are, I just don't know what size they serve with the combos.

Nevermind to everyone, though. I've decided not to go out.

You can look at the site probably. I think they come with medium fries, so you could google the medium fries.

When I eat out now days I get the kids meal. I can eat a kids meal at Wendys with a diet drink for around 500 cals. Still alot but hey it's a treat.

Here's something you may find interesting. My cousin once worked at McDonald's and let me in on a little secret about the fries. I dont eat them, but still found this kind of cheap. Apparently he was taught when you order a "large" thing of fries you aren't really getting a large. When they fill the box with the fries they are taught to close the box from front and back instead of on the sides. So when you get your fries you are actually getting a medium not a large. Same with the drinks they fill your cup up with so much ice that when they put your drink in you arent getting a lot. Luckily, I dont touch neither..Heck, I don't even eat at McDonalds..but I thought that was pretty much a dirty trick. I mean great for people watching what they eat..but honestly, for the money you pay out..that's awful.
I know you're not going out anymore but to answer your question for the future, it depends on the place.  Burger King near our house gives you a small combo if you just say combo (small fries, small drink) but the BK near my work automatically gives you a medium.  I always clarify when I order (#2 medium) for example.  If you do that you can't go wrong.

The service and portions of food served at McDonald's varies with who is working and location. I once had a Large double cheese burger meal. The cup was about a quart, I got to fill it, and the French fries were large. The McDonald's and other fast food places have online menus and as mentioned, you can ask for the nutrition pamphlet.

It depends on the McDonald's. I worked there for nine years and I was never taught to fill the fries like that or the drinks for that matter. I made sure I gave people their money's worth. If anything I overfilled the fries and only put in enough ice.
Hmm must be only the Mcdonalds around here are cheap. hahaha. :P Thank god I dont eat at them anyway! :/
