I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Marie;

Here is the one link I found about us slowing our metabolism and how to get it going again.  I'll come back again when I find the other.

ah geez, the moment of truth, ay?  Well, I currently weight 142lbs and I'd like to weight 130lbs or less....I mean hey, if I'm on a losing streak, I'm not going to say nothing! lol  I'm approx. 5'6"......I've been working out pretty hard in the gym, but my appetite has increased also.  Therefore, I'm not losing any of the fat....I mean com'on already.....why am I not fitting in my clothes yet?....what's up with that???LOL.  So that's pretty much it...if I could control my portions...I'm thinking that might help.  I suppose when I get hungry I'll have chew on a piece of celery....yum!

So, it sounds like we'll all be weightin' in tomorrow, correct?  I've probably not lost anything....haven't seen any changes.  Best of luck to all of you!!

WOW!

Welcome to all of you and thank you for joining in!

So I remember again tonight another reason I need to loose weight and not to eat a lot at night. I have a stomach problem that compounds things. I have my Doctor right now pushing a small surgery to keep the stomach cap closed - mine has no cap at all anymore and occasionally if I forget a pill or eat something that doesn't agree with me I get sick. Yup - I simply can not contain it and it comes right back up. Tonight for dinner I had tomato/roasted red pepper soup and some cheese and crackers. For some reason my stomach didn't like at and I lost it all. The doctor said weight loss will help this but not fully - I just hate the thought of surgery.

Anyway so I went out and got a brand new scale today that is weighing more than my old clunker - go figure, the new one is probably right but we will see what it tells first thing in the morning??????

So I hope I have everyone now.

When you all get a chance why don't we simply copy and paste our list of names into every post along with our real names (if you want) and our weight! I'll try to get on line early and do mine :)

 GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!

Good Morning every one.  I guess I get to be first since I work such weird hours.  Let's see if this cut and paste works.

Good morning again.

Just found this great link for exercises.  If you click on the picture it will show you how to do each exercise and what the goals are of the exercise.  We do alot of these exercises in the core and sculpting classes I am taking.  Have a look.

I thought I had lost something this week, 2 lbs! Now the bad news... as feared my DH purchased fabulous hand made chocolates for me for Valentines. I think we would have been better off if he had asked the wizard for a brain instead of a heart! Oh well, he means well! I have a sharing plan, I will not eat one of them unless someone splits it with me (the kids are really into this one!).

Hey...3 pounds isn't bad for the first week. I can live with that. Even went out with the guys yesterday and instead of wings and beer, I had a grilled chicken wrap and diet coke!

Sounds like everyone is doing great! Cool  I'm sad to report that I didn't lose even one pound!? Cry  I'm trying to look on the bright side....at least I didn't gain either, but it isn't helping.  However, I'm not giving up.  I'll just try a new approach next week until I find something that works.  If I could only get my butt outta bed early in the morning to do cardio that would probably work....but in the winter time...it's simply hard getting outta bed period!

Midwest not east coast and yes I am an early riser.

I think that everyone did great this week, I'd be happy with not gaining at this point.

I know that I HAVE to get in more exercise if I hope to get anywhere, so I have alot of projects to work on this week. I need to make a schedule that I can stick to, with the winter weather I can't get too motivated (hate gray skies). I also want to really watch what I am eating when.

Hope everyone is well and having a good day!

ah, So. Cal....I used to live in San Diego....I miss it alot!  Now I live in MI...what a culture shock!  I absolutely hate snow and as Sandy mentioned...we wake up to gray skies e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y! lol  With the exception for today....the sun is shining!! yay Cool  You know, I just realized.....I drink a lot of energy drinks and mostly Monster Lo-Carb and this site rates it a "D" because it's high in sugar & sodium so I'm going to switch to the Monster Assault...that gets an "A!"

How did you guys make out for Valentines?  I thought I did really well...until today?  My husband picked me up for lunch and wanted Pizza Hut buffet....now I gotta go "kill" myself in the gym!  There's nothing healthy at Pizza Hut (I'm being facetious, as usual) they probably add fat to their salads too (no salad bar they make 'em in the back & bring it out to ya). lol   I guess I can't complain about.. not losing weight when I'm eating like that, ay?  Best of luck to all of you and have a great weekend!

Denise

I wish there were grey sky's when I get up in the morning.  But the moon is usully nice and bright.  I leave for work at 3am everymorning.  But, now it's noon, the sun is shining, it's 8 degrees F and I'm done working for the week.  Right now that isn't that great, but as soon as it warms up, I'll be able to get in my garden each day by noon.

Valentine's day went without a hitch.  Tomorrow may be a different story.  My daughters gave me a winery trip for my birthday and it's tomorrow.  We will be doing a sweetheart and chocolate winery tasting at up to 15 heart of Iowa wineries.  My youngest daughter and I have a deal (she's pregnant)  I get to taste the wine and she will eat the chocolate.  Well most of it anyway, I might have to try some of the chocolate.    Cool  Wink

Good thing I have both my cardio and weight class tomorrow morning before we go.  Heading to the gym now also, I'll try for an hour and a half today.  Have a great weekend.

Leslie

Too late to join in? I just joined to day and would like the idea of having like aged people to journey with. I will be 40 in May and I decided it was time for me to start taking control of my life. I currently weigh 229. My high weight over the years was about 285. I would like to get to 180 (I am 6 feet tall) but am aiming for 199 as my first goal. LOL I can't remember the last time I saw that number. Perhaps in early highschool sometime.

1 Hi , I am in just about the same boat as you. I am 41 will be 42 in April and I had my fisrt child at 37 (2003) , I was always heavy but this put the icing on the cake!! I weighed in at about 289 when my baby was about 1 year old, So I started working out and dieting and went down to 239 and hung there for about a year. In 2006 I realized I was starting to put weight on again, so I decided to jump back on the band wagon and guess what??? No sooner did I start to diet and I found out I was pregnant again at 41 and I was just about 3 weeks along. So, so much for the diet. Now the baby is here and I was 255 when I found out I was preggo, and now she is 5 months old and I have already lost all of the baby weight and some. I am now down to 246. So I would love a  couple of buddies to chat with and support. Bring it on we can do this!! Please feel free to e-mail

Hi Vicki & loosin -it nice to have you here! Where do you guys live? And yes! I am in San Diego! Lovely sunny San Diego - I have lived here for 21 years and LOVE IT!
I just have not done much of anything since our weigh in. Right after I posted my weight on Friday we found out we had a birth in the family so had a road trip to Los Angeles. Needless to say road trip and diet do not go hand in hand! So it was a bad day - today I was better - breakfast - a very light lunch and good healthy dinner. Now I just gotta get on my elliptical!

Hi - so nice to join a group of lovely people. I live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I will be getting busy this week and hoping for success on Fridays weigh in. This is the first time I have really jumped on one of these boards, I was just using the site to log my food. It totatly keeps my head on straight when I keep track of my food. I feel like I am going to get in trouble if I go over my calorie intake for the day lololol. Like someone is grading me!! The weekends are much harder for me since I am at home all day, I am much more disciplined at work..

 Chat with ya later!!

Thanks for the welcome Patricia :) I live in Raleigh NC. I am finding that, at the moment, the counting calories is keeping me where I need to be. Normally, I am a stress eater and Friday would have been a BIG stress eating day. The cabinet installer was in the kitchen putting up cabinets and my boys (in kindergarten and 2nd grade) decided to play in the sink upstairs and caused niagra falls in my house. Leaked downstairs all the way across the living room onto our big screen tv and the wii. AKKKK!

I'm giving me a big pat on the back for staying within my calorie goal!

I had no idea we would end up with this many people stopping in. Hello, I just have to tell you guys how great it is to meet you. Some times I feel a little lonely trying to lose weight and I need some moral support. I must admit that I have had a few times when the cravings have hit and I stopped to read the posts here and worked through it. So thanks, you have already saved me from myself a couple of times.

I can't wait to see how everyone here does.

Sorry if I sound a bit TOO chipper right now, but some good friends of mine got the call to come pick up their new baby at the hospital. They have been on the adoption waiting list for over two years and they just took their little boy home. I have been really motivated and overly upbeat (like those people in the exercise infomercials).  Just to help my happy mood, the sun came out for awhile and I got in a great long walk OUTSIDE! In Indiana in February that doesn't happen often.

I am going to go do something productive here in the house now, since I am full of all this Richard Simmons type energy. I'm looking forward to checking back and reading the updates from people, especially when I need a little motivation. Have a good day guys.
