I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Tammie...congrats! Feels great when that happens!

Cbear....You should have not told anyone, then posted it as a 9 pound loss this week!

I finally hit my first (of many) goals this morning of losing 20lbs. I was at like 18 on Friday and then did the SEEfood diet this weekend. See food/eat food. Needless to say, it set me back a couple, but I did it today. 20lbs in 1 month and 3 days. It was a pleasant surprise this morning. I even weighed myself FIVE times to make sure!

and best of all....I get to walk outside today! It is supposed to be in the 50s!!!

Next goal is 15lbs as that will put me at 35 lost, which is half way!

I like to go by my clothes rather than the scale, since I have an obsessive scale addition! If you diet and gain weight it can easily be muscle not fat and you will know because the clothes fit better.

Lots of pity here for everyone fighting stress, munchie coworkers and exercise aversions. Lots of stress here at work (retail petroleum, need I say more), I have two kids getting ready to get a degree this May (kid in law not getting his because they didn't offer the last class he needs...bummer). Working on our house and taking care of elderly relatives. Lots of stress here. And munchie coworkers, one woman brought in a giant tray of toffee brownies and mini cherry cheesecakes to celebrate her husband's birthday today (he doesn't work here and I've never even met him). I have spent so much time in the past couple of weeks taking care of the ill that I have not been able to get to the gym. Dad has early Parkinson's now on top of his diabetes and hearing loss and Mom just stared this week on insulin and has to do a stress test this week (annual) for her enlarged heart. Everyone has had the flu, bronchitis, etc...

I AM SO READY FOR SPRING!

Ok, I feel better now.

I am one of those who has to watch when she eats! I cannot eat after 7pm or I will not lose pounds. I try to eat high fiber (IBS) and I try to start each meal or snack with a piece of fruit or some veggies (helps me be less hungry). I run for people quite a bit and I find that I diet best when I have easy things to fix in the evening for dinner. I keep fish filets in the freezer and always have salad fixings in the house. Broil or grill the fish and serve with salad, great dinner! I eat alot of chicken also (equally good on salad), I try to keep the dinners quick and easy so that I don't spend too much time in the kitchen (bad diet environment), if I have to spend too much time cleaning after dinner I lose the ambition to exercise.

I too have had a week where I have not been working on the weight loss, well we all have better luck tomorrow! Times like these I feel good if I didn't gain any. Every day we have to make the decision to start again and try harder! Remember this is a lifestyle change, I cannot go back to the way I was before or I will gain weight. I did not get this way overnight and I am determined to take a slow easy pace to change as many of my bad habits as I can.

Ok, I caught up now. This is my confession, rant, advise and motivation all squeezed into the smallest space I could manage!

P.S. Good Luck tomorrow everyone!!!

Omagraf,  I hear you loud and clear about work! We have a 75-yr old family business in #2 heating fuel. Even though I no longer work there offically, I still get calls from my brother to come and help out. The place is a zoo this winter. It makes you wonder where and how this is all going to end.

I'm freezing right now. And I really don't want to go outside and walk. *sigh* But here I go.......

I'll see you all tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!

I have a quick question. Where is the person who originally started this? I was just wondering.

Well, I have begun to lose weight again. I'm not telling my weight until weigh in day!!!!  But you are going to be surprised. hehehe I'm just ecstatic that I've lost again.

I'm so glad today is going to be 56 today! Heat wave!!!  I think I'm going to have to get outside today.

I'm going to have a big challenge today. I'm making spaghetti today and it's one of my favorite foods to eat. I have to make it with regular ground beef and Prego. It's the way mu hubby and son wants it. And I no longer eat red meat or canned sauce (way too much sodium). What a temptation to face.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Thanks for reminding me momof2funykids, I was just wondering where she was yesterday as I was reading the posts. I have a tendency to read and not write everyday myself, but she has been awol too long!!! MAVMOM if you read this I emailing you to check up on you...I can get after you because I'm older than you!!

Terry you are right............I should have just waitedTongue out

I am nervous about getting on the scale tomorrow. It has not been the best week for me.My 13 year old son decided it would be easier to throw his clothes down the stairs instead of bringing then into the wash room. So needless to say when I went down stairs with a huge laundry basket of dirty clothes I failed to see his all over the stairs until it was to late ,down i went.My knee has been very sore so I have been very limited this week.I was extra careful with calories  except for Sunday when my husband and I had a few beers.Cool I did have Micholob ultra's (not bad), but such empty calories I felt  guilty the next day. Its amazing how fast your calories  add up when you throw a few beers in there.Surprisedoh well  next week will be better. I am taking a road trip with 2 of my siblings (I have 5 others) to go visit our folks in Northern Maine for a few days.Hope we dont get snowed in. Seems like it snows up there  at least once a week. So I will weigh in on Saturday next week. Hope you all have a great weekend and good luck tomorrow.

cbear

When I looked she hasn't been here since the 22nd of feb, i think. Hope she's not staying away bc something bad happened. Maybe she's just taking a break.

I did a bad thing today. I unloaded the groceries from the car. I'm not suppose to bc of my back. I have to go up steps into my house in the back where we park. The bags weren't that bad, but I carried a case of water into the house. I was really struggling. But hubby was sleeping (he works nights) and my son was at the park playing football so I did it. I coulda waited for him to get home, but I didn't! I'll just have to wait and see how it feels later on tonight and tomorrow.

Anyone drink only bottled water? I can't stand tap water. ewwwww!!!  Hubby tells me that I'm nuts. But it tastes funny to me. I put crystal light in some of my water to give it some taste once in a while.

Have a nice evening!

I hope she didn't lose track of the thread when they moved it out of the newcomer forum...

I'm trying very hard to not go after the two-bite low-fat brownies in the other room that my husband bought.  Must... be... strong...

Happy Friday! I was not a great dieter this week, but I am working on it.

It is almost Spring! I saw the sun and walked without a coat...Life is Good!

I'd say good luck but how about wishing everyone a good weigh in instead?

Omagraf - Sandy 162 (lost 1 lb, scale finally moved)

After the way I ate this past weekend, I am stunned that I was able to lose. The more I get into this, the more I realize I have no idea what works and what doesn't. I am just along for the ride.

dccd 186 (up 2 lb. --hoping it's b/c I forgot to weigh in this a.m. and did it tonight instead.)
DCCD - weighing in at the end of the day! I couldn't be that brave! You should weigh in tomorrow morning and see what it says. I would. Bet it's less than that 186.
Morning everyone, hope you had a great weekend!

We got a new bathroom scale this weekend because the display on the old one was going, and it reads four pounds heavier! :( Oh well, I know it's probably more accurate and closer to my doctor's scale, but still...

So, I know I'm going to go up this week, but I hope to keep it to a minimum, and mentally I'll probably still translate it back to how much it'd be on the old scale :) Oh and happy St. Patrick's Day!
