I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Hello All,

I made it through the week end without too much damage. So, I'm forging on! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Marie

Momof2 - thanks you were right!  I was down the next morning. Anyway - will report the next on Friday and try not to forget to weigh myself first thing.

Hope you are all feeling motivated and doing well. I'm starting off the week with total motivation, let's hope it sticks!!! :)
Edit: Duplicate post.  Is there a way to just delete a duplicate post? I couldn't seem to find that option.

Sorry!  Thanks.

DCCD: I tried to figure out how to do that too. I couldn't. I don't know why they don't have that option to delete a post.

Have to share with everyone----I weighed in this morning (this is my official weigh in day) and I've lost a total of.........40 POUNDS in 5 months!!!!!! I'm so happy today I can't stand myself!!! I haven't lost in a while and this week was such a good week (5 pounds lost).

Hope everyone has a good St Patrick's Day!!!

That's great Tammy, 5 pounds in a week is excellent, and 40 pounds in 5 months is fantastic!

Wow!! That's FANTASTIC!

So impressive. I hope things keep working for you! I have started the week slow myself (remodeling in the house this week), I am hoping that the extra activity does me some good this week cause I am feeling it already. Oh well at least the house will look better, so pass the aspirin and grin!

I am heading out of town today trying to beat the big storm hitting northern Maine tomorrow. I will weigh in on Saturday this week unless I get snowed in............yikes.........Good luck to all.

Cbear

cbear - Sure hope you don't get snowed in! We really haven't gotten all that much snow this year in Pa. Seems like as soon as it snows, it melts! This winter has been crazy like that. The snow just doesn't want to stick around. I don't know if we are suppose to get any snow, haven't watched weather reports. It's raining right now though.

I don't think I'll lose 5 pounds in a week again. That happened because I started something different, that's all. I don't want to say what plan I'm doing. I might get in trouble with someone saying I'm advertising. I'm still sticking to nothing white to eat and watching the fat.

Everyone have a nice day! Exercise and drink lots of water!

Good luck cbear!

It has been a near record year for snow up where I am in Ottawa; we're in second place on the all-time list.  There have been several incidents of roofs collapsing in Quebec and Ontario under the snow load; they're having to shovel off the roofs of some schools.

Sounds good Tammy, glad to hear it's working!  Take care everyone :)

Okay all my weight loss buddies.  Just as I thought, I bought a new scale and instead of 149, I am at 153.  Its got me depressed.  I'm trying so hard and now I feel as though I'm starting all over again.  I don't even want to weigh in on Friday.  I've been walking and riding my stationary bike and watching what I eat but I don't have any high expectations for weigh in day.

Need some cheering up!!!!!Cry

I'm with you, my new scale is also four pounds heavier.  It's discouraging because I was just starting to see a downward trend, but I admit I mentally subtract four pounds from my weight to get the "old scale" number :)

Hang in there, it's the effort that counts, we're in this for long term health not short term!

I was the same way when I bought my new scale. But I adjusted to it. Now I don't even subtract the 3 pounds. After a while you don't even pay attention that it's weighing you heavier than your old scale.

I stayed up late last night, so I slept in really late (noon) and by the time I was done with shower, it was 1. So I didn't eat til then. Now I have to practically keep eating to get in all my food for the day!!! I hate having to do this. That's what I get for staying up.

Have a nice day everyone!  It's raining cats and dogs here!!! :(

Good morning friends....it is Friday and that means weigh-in day. I didn't have a great week. Had a "so so" weekend and only worked out 2 days this week, but hey, 3 pounds is good considering the lack of effort I suppose. I told my self that I would give a good honest effort this week and see what happens. On a side note, I am down 25lbs now in just under 6 weeks.

Hi Hope.... Do keep a food log? I read an interesting fact....when people estitmate their calories, they usually under estimate the caloire count by a third. So for example, if you think you've eaten 2000, you probably ate 3000.

That's from Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink, PhD.

I hate being a slave to a food log but I do so much better with my food when I am faithful to it.

Good luck!

So at what point do people start noticing weight loss? I mean I am not an attention hound at all, but I feel kinda good about losing 25lbs. I have dropped two full pants sizes (okay, so they are a bit tight but still). Anyway so far not a single person has noticed. Well, my wife has noticed, but that could be because she knows I am trying and is being nice! ;)

cynthb - Cynthia 174.2 -2lbs from when I got the new scale Sat (+4lb difference between scales)

And Terry, people may notice "something different" but not feel comfortable saying anything.  I lost 30lbs last year and nobody said anything but my husband. You know the difference, though, and hopefully you feel different, more energy etc :)

I have a friend who has lost over 35 lbs in the past 4 months and not a person has said anything besides me. She was over 300 to begin and I am sure some haven't been paying any attention to her (they just don't where we work, lots of beautiful people). I really noticed after the 25 lb mark on her and right now every lb seems to show when she drops (I am really excited for her, can you tell). I have another friend who had a baby by c-section 3 months ago and several people have actually asked her "when are you due?" man is she depressed. So it could be worse then they don't notice I guess. Besides we don't do this for anyone else, do it to feel good and stay well and stuff what anyone else thinks!

omagraf- Sandy 162 (holding steady, stubborn weight) I did deserve it after 2 beers on St Pat's day though...it was worth it!!! Life's too short.
