I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?
Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Wierd rut we are in, lots of "the same" and 1 lb... what is this about? Did the small amount of sunshine injected into the atmosphere throw us all off? Oh well, we might get more snow tomorrow here so heck maybe that will cause me to lose a lb....LOL
No one likes to plateau, but 1 - 2 pounds a week is supposed to be healthy...right. Also, if I am not gaining, I am doing better than most of last year.
I am more concerned there are really no knew logs to read. They inspire me, so I am surprised no one is writing.
I am heading to Northern Maine again. My dad is very ill (5th heart attack,CHF just to name a few),not sure when i will be back.I am gonna try real hard to be good while I am up there. if I have computer access I will try and weigh in on Friday. If not i will do it when I get back. Good luck to everyone this week.

Good luck Claire, I hope your dad is OK. I'll send him my thoughts.
Saturday it SNOWED here. Grrr. On the bright side, Sunday my husband and I went for a walk to the sports store to get him some running shoes so he can join me in the quest for a smaller person. He's been doing the elliptical barefoot, but he can't run outside barefoot obviously.
I did my Sunday weights watching the hockey game (Montreal vs Boston). It's supposed to be really warm this week, so hopefully we'll get out some more.
I also finished off the last of my Easter chocolate. I've been VERY good! Usually I gobble it all up at once, but this year I weighed out five hollow malt eggs, put that in to the log and tagged it, so I ate the eggs in groups of five (80 cal) and was very good about logging them, which kept me honest.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
Nice to see some conversation on here. ;) I WI today, so I'll be posting my weight a little later. I found myself on that scale too much with all the weigh in's, so now I'm just posting my weight on Mondays.
Hockey? I can't get into that! Now Football is a different story! I love it! I'm from the Pittsburgh (pennsylvania) area so I'm a huge STEELER fan!!!
It's suppose to warm up here after today. I heard last night on the news, it's suppose to get up to the 70's in a couple days. I've been forcing myself to walk outside and yesterday was caught in a down pour 1/2 mile from my house. I was freezing when I got back! lol
Well, check in later! Have a nice day! :D
Reading this was really funny for me. We are big hockey fans (good local team here) and my mother's family is from Pittsburgh so we are into the Pirates and Steelers (more so the Pirates, my Grandma was a big fan of baseball - I think she had a thing for Harry!). I just found the conversation amusing, what are the odds that we would have these things in common?
I have not been too good this week, some of my meds are making me retain water in a big way this week. I hope to have it under control by Friday, it is amazing how fast the water weight can build up! I just feel a little lousy when this happens and I am trying not to slow down on my exercise but it can get a little uncomfortable. I just have to push myself a little more this week.
We had a little snow this weekend and the weather is going to give us a few days break here now. I have been really crazy getting ready for graduations next month, my two daughters are both getting a degree and my son-in-law is getting one as well. My oldest daughter is not done yet, she wants to get her doctorate but we are all pretty excited that we have all these people walking at the same ceremony. Of course there is a big party planned and relatives coming in from all over so much to take care of. I am really happy that my Dad and Mom are probably going to be able to attend, they are really excited.
Sorry I am rambling this morning, guess it has been too long since I chatted. I can't wait to see how the weigh in goes for you Tammy, best of luck!
Claire, I have been thinking of you and I hope you get some better news about your Dad's condition. Have a safe trip.
I LOVE hockey. I used to coach, but don't have the time anymore. My older son played junior hockey here in the states for a couple of years. He still plays for a local college team. I also have a 17 yr old daughter who plays and a 13 yr old son. Being in Ohio, Detroit was our "local" team before the Bluejackets, so I have to stick with the Wings, although they are looking shaky right now.
Sorry I haven't been around. Just been one of those weeks. Didn't have a great week with food. Got lazy over the weekend and still having some back issues which keep me from working out enough. I have lost a few lbs this week so far, so I did make it to 230 (that is 40 total now!). It is cool to be past the halfway point. I just need to stay motivated for a few months and I'll get there.
Hello - hope its not too late to join in! I'm 41 year olds, weigh 182 (down just 8lbs so far) trying to get to 150. I work full time and have 2 kids ( 6 & 8) who are keep me hopping with their activities which leaves little time for me! Not that I'm complaining, they are my greatest joy. I joined a gym near my job and try to get there at lunch time for quick workouts 3 days a week. I have a treadmill and handweights at home and try to do those a couple of nights a week too. I'm justing getting over a nasty cold so I haven't worked out in a over a week - luckily I kept the weight steady. I didn't get to read through all the posts yet on this group but will catch up soon!
hi everyone!
Welcome kris! It's never too late to join! I've joined recently myself.
Terry - You are doing so well, I'm jealous!! ;D
I've been having some issues eating junk at night!!! I had it under control for so long and now it's just cut loose on me!!! Last night a bowl of chips and a bowl of ice cream!!!! I don't know what is getting into me with this. That's 2 weeks in a row I've done that.
It's just one night a week I do it, but I had no loss last week and just 1 pound the week before. I know it's this junk I want to eat. I'm drinking lots of water and I do so well during the day. but at 10 or 11 at night, I'm in the kitchen looking for junk to eat!!!! HELP!!! I need an intervention!!!!
I know when I have nights like that I just make myself go to bed so I'll stop obsessing on snacking! My problem is around 9pm when the house is finally quiet - hubby off to work, kids in bed...then I start going for the popcorn. I bought the 100 calorie pack bags to try to control the amount I eat. I don't keep chips in the house because I have NO self control! My husband will buy them for himself on the nights he's off and I tell him to either throw out whats left or hide them so I can't find them!
OK, you guys are really starting to freak me out...I can't stop the cravings in the evenings lately. I especially have wanted salt. I have tried to go out for a walk, call someone or even log on to the computer to distract myself for almost two weeks now. I cannot give in to the chip & salt right now or the water weight will be even worse for me. Is there anything else that we all have in common?
I cannot believe that it is Friday again...here goes.

well last night, since there are no more chips left since I finished them off, I ate yogurt and a 100 calorie pack popcorn and a bowl of fiber one cereal!!!! You know, as soon as my hubby walks out the door that's when it happens. He works midnights and leaves the house at 9:30pm. I'm in bed and I will get up and go to that kitchen!!!
I'm going to the store today to buy more fruit. I ran out of apples and I think I need them!!! This is rediculous! I have got to stop this!
Come Monday I know there won't be a drop in the scale again and I will have noone to thank but myself! :(
I've been really good exercise wise this week, but I had dessert a couple of nights this week, and last night we went for a walk and got ice cream (just one scoop), so I'm not surprised by my result this week.

I was sick the last 10 days and wasn't exercising, so I'm glad to be status quo this week. I hit the treadmill yesterday for the first time. I hope to see 17_(anything # will do) by next week!
