I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?
Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

I almost forgot! Has anyone ever done a total body cleanse? I'm starting one today. It's a 7 day kit and it includes the kidneys and liver and blood. I bought it because I heard it's good for the metabolism and it helps your body to get all the nutrients from your food. Let me know what you think.
I'd be very cautious about herbal cleanses. The FDA doesn't regulate supplements or herbal stuff, so there's no guarantee that what's in there is what they claim, or that it's safe or effective or won't interact with any other medicines you're taking. I also don't see the need - your body is already really good at cleaning your system and absorbing nutrients unless you have a serious disorder which should be looked at by a doctor. I wouldn't, but it's your body.
Definately let us know about the cleanse. I have heard mixed reviews, but don't know of anyone who has actually tried it.
I have heard lots of mixed reviews also, most people who love it seem to love the way it makes them feel and most who hated it seemed to be disappointed that it didn't do more for them. Hey there is no magic fix. If you like how you feel afterward and are careful that you don't over do it I don't suppose it can hurt. It should be interesting...and I will say better you than me. I just don't have an interest in that stuff, I think that I fear I will end up in the bathroom for the entire time...Good luck with it and make sure you document the event for us.
The asthma is a real pain for me, trying different meds and not getting anywhere right now. Of course some kind souls at my office seem to think that bringing fresh flowers from their garden in to their desks is wonderful. My boss thinks that if it bothers me I should wear a mask (I have done this hoping that some would get the hint that I can't breathe, now they think I am just a freak). Oh well, luckily the flowers will calm down and the trees will stop (then the grass and weeds will kick in)...nature is wonderful! That which does not kill me makes me stronger (so that I can choke the jerks with the flowers at their desks)!
I am so bad some days!!Got to laugh at it all or I'd just run screaming!
I hope you are all hanging tough with your own trials and tribulations this week! We just breathe in and then breathe out and keep repeating! Hey tomorrow is Friday folks!
well.....I did one day of the cleanse and I don't like the way it made me feel. It was like I drank 10 cups of really strong coffee!!! It don't say there's caffeine in it anywhere, but it sure feels like it! I wasn't jittery, just felt like I couldn't sit still for a minute!!! So no more of that for me! I didn't like that feeling. It didn't keep me in the bathroom at all. The guy said I could bring it back, so I am. If it didn't have that affect on me, I would've kept taking the pills.
omagraf - that's sad how people can be so rude!
I think we have all met the unbelievably rude, haven't we? I can't say that I am unhappy that the cleanse didn't work out for you, but I am glad that it didn't actually HURT you in any way. The jittery feeling sounds like the way I get after too many asthma treatments, no caffeine there but I feel like I could come out of my own skin after the third dose. Not fun at all, like they describe some sort of bad trip on drugs.
Well it is Friday, not great news here. No change in the weight, but as I said a while back I am pretty happy to be down to this weight and so I am not UNhappy! Maybe I'll just stay here awhile & enjoy it, LOL!! Happy Friday & good luck on your weigh ins. Don't forget to give us updates on your family Claire & Arlis, still thinking about you and hoping you are all ok.

How trying these days are for you. In 2000 I was in the same boat My father was dying from lympthnolia cancer. I only lived 2 1/2 hours away but I always feared the worst while I was on the rode Dad was bed ridden in the hospital. For him his time was not coming quick enough. You could tell by the look in his eyes. from October- Jan. were hectic days. He rused the holliday celebrations.
The stress and running back and forth to the hospital helped burn 4 pounds off. Robert was not realeased until Tuesday right before his stepfather's funeral. As for now he is fine. Waiting on the sonogram of heart results. So far everything has showed negative (no reason for reoccurring weakness spells)
OM Can relate with you. WE are having the same in our office but it isn't flowers. We have had a mager back up in the office. has gone on since last week. We are suffering from mold. My collegue is really bad I keep waiting for hiom to have a major attack. I'm sicker than a dog by the time I get home due to my intolerence to mold. We have complained and complained. The matiance man keeps saying it's in our heads. Yesterday we had QA meeting with the Doctor of facility. I brought up this mold issue. 5 minutes after the meeting personnel was there to clean it up. Big surprise for them. They had to replace base boards of cabinet becuse they were satuated mold not only on outsides but also growing inside of them because they were just fiber board. I took it one step forward and pulled up the carpetting to show it was no longer clued down and revealed the mold under the tiles that the carpet was clued on.

Oh gosh! Mold is no joke! It can really make you sick. I'm glad they are finally doing something about it. Good for you!
I weigh in on Mondays. So I will post my weight then. I hope I'm down something! I've been walking and it seems like it's not helping my weight loss at all. I don't know what's going on. I guess it will srop when it's good and ready! ;D
Good luck on the weigh ins everyone!!! :D

2 weeks until I leave for Hawaii...I am praying for 7 more pounds...wish me luck!
Go go Tammie, I know you'll knock em dead in Hawaii :)
This weekend was good and bad. My husband made rice krispie squares for the get-together Friday night. I had 5, plus a bunch of other junk, and logged around 3200 for the day so that was a washout. Saturday and Sunday were good, though, with my husband and I going for a run / walk on Sunday. He's around 270, so he's got a ways to go, but he's trying :)
The weightlifting bench makes everything go much much better. I can actually do proper bench presses instead of being scrunched up at the bottom. It's heavy to move, but that's good for me, and it folds up pretty flat.
I've started to get rid of my "fat" clothes as well as some of the really small stuff from 10 years ago which is so out of date. I sent 2 garbage bags full of clothes to charity and that's only the beginning :( I am such a pack rat :(

momof2funykds - Tammy 194 (gained 2 pounds from exercising and my muscles hurt sooooo bad!)
I really did some hill climbing this weekend and really put myself thru a bootcamp! Now my muscles are soooo sore today!
MissyKris, I haven't had too many BIG loss weeks myself. It seems that I just lose that way so I have become happy with no gain and 1/2 lbs. It still gets me where I am going, every now & then I'll lose 2 or more in a week and that is a thrill.
Hope everyone has great trips. I don't get to go anywhere for awhile. It has been an expensive winter, we put in new flooring (planned) and then the washer & dryer died. I got sick and I started taking 1 day a week off work to watch my grandkids while my daughter goes back to school (working toward her doctorate so she could get me to do anything for her right now).
I have two kids & one kid-in-law getting bachelors degrees this May and have a very large party planned with all kinds of relatives coming in (the family has never had this many graduates at once before). My "vacation" is taking the week off to be with family, get everything ready and attend commencement ceremonies. Two of our grads are on the Dean's list this time also. So I don't get to leave town but everyone is coming here to visit and it is going to be difficult to get in the exercise and watch what I eat, I figure that if I do not gain weight I will have done well. I am hoping to drop maybe 5 more pounds before the big week. I may have to try that soup diet that worked so well when I was sick!
Terry, where are you visiting out West?
Tammie, where are you visiting in Hawaii?
I used to travel alot and haven't been out west in years, my husband lived in Hawaii for 8 years and we have gone back to visit several times. Mahi Mahi with eggs for breakfast was my favorite!
I have a trip to Vegas planned in July. We will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. I'm looking forward to it but I'm nervous about leaving my daughter. She's six years old and I've never left her for that long.
Good to know I"m not the only losing slowly! It is really frustrating sometimes. I know I'm on the right track - I went shopping yesterday and bought "L" shirts instead of "XL". That was fun! I always bought the bigger size to hide my tummy! Now that is firming up (a bit) the "L" look good! that will keep me motivated for a while!
I'm going to a wedding in Ireland this summer so I want to look and feel good! The wedding is not until the end of July so I hope to be down at LEAST 10lbs by then. It would be nice it was more but with the rate I'm going, I'd be happy with it!
Congrats on the smaller size!
I'm losing very slowly too! This last week was the largest jump I've seen in months. I'd like to be a little smaller by the time we go to visit my mother in August, or at least to have rearranged the pounds somewhat. My in-laws (in the same city as us) have a pool so we're over there quite a lot in the summer and hopefully I'll look a little better than I have in the past.
How can I make walking fun?
You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
