I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?
Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Good Monday morning everyone.
It's kind of cold out here in Iowa today. About 8 degrees F. Thought I did real good this weekend with our adventure to the wineries. Stayed at maintenance on Saturday and worked out for 1 1/2 hours. Sunday stayed within my allowance and did 40 minutes on the Eliptical, but I was up to 177#. Don't know what's up with that, but hopefully it's just water retention.
You know, there are those days, that it is very frustrating trying to change your eating habits and lose weight. We record every bite, and log every minute using our heart rate monitors to make sure we are expending as much energy as we think we are and that darn scale continues to go in the wrong direction. We then beat ourselves up and it becomes a constant battle.
It's nice to have CC, and our friends here and all of the tools and forums to keep our motivation up in order to continue in the right direction. I know from experience that these pounds will come back off relatively easy because we all know that you can't gain 5# of fat in 2 days, but it doesn't make that scale seem any more friendly on a Monday morning.
Well I hope you all have a happy Monday, and those of you that weigh daily like I do, I hope your scale is nicer to you today than mine was to me.
Have a great day.
Leslie
That is exactly why I can't weigh daily. I would get so frustrated with the scale. I try not to step on the scales any more and go by how my clothes are fitting (or rather not fitting). Last Friday when I stepped on that scale it was the first time in a long time for me, I should invest in a new one since mine is about 20 years old...I have that fear that if I replace it I would find that I gain a few lbs. I think I'll get a new one when I feel better about the loss I have achieved, then I can emotionally afford the let down of a few lbs.
I hope the scale treats you better soon.
deamarie! welcome!
And boy do I hear you about the scale - I gained 2 pounds this weekend, but again am hoping its water - weekends are always hard for me and this weekend we had Friday off too. So I need to work my butt off for Fridays weigh in (on my new scale that weighs me higher than the old one).
Good to see everyone checking in today. Glad you had a good weekend. Welcome Deamarie.
And yes I and me scale are good friends, sometimes were up, sometimes were down. I weigh daily and usually take my noon weight as I tend to retain a lot of fluids. I weigh daily and take my Thursday weight for comparison, however by weighing daily if I'm high on Thursday I can reassure myself it's not a pattern, instead I can watch my trend line for the whole week and see that I am on the right path.
But each of us is extremely different and not one thing will work for all of us.
Have a great afternoon.
Leslie
Hi all~~
I didn't bother weighing this morning...after my results Friday...I'm going to give it a rest until this Friday. I'm hoping the next time I weigh-in I'll show some results.
I hope all of you had a great week! ![]()
Hi All,
Tough weekend all around! Glad it's Monday. I feel energized! I'm staying away from the scale for a few days, let the sodium leave my body first.
I hope everyone has a good week.
We can do this!
Marie
Good morning to all....
I had a three day weekend, so it was tough, but I am proud of myself....even though I had a slice of pizza on Sunday. Considering I went from roughly a 3500 calorie a day diet to 1500, I am not going to sweat the occassional diet mistake.
I did weigh in yesterday. I know our day is Friday, but I started my diet last Monday so as of yesterday, I am down to 264 from 270. I realize six pounds in a week isn't normal. I am still keeping my goal of two pounds per week...although the motivation is certainly high after a good first week.
Stay strong everyone!
Terry
Yesterday...I had all I could stand of gray skies... so I signed up for a month of tanning.... perhaps this will help motivate me to look good....I'm looking for motivation anywhere I can get it! lol
Best of luck to all of you,
Denise
Hi All,
i'm new to the site and still trying to learn how to navigate but i'm hoping you'll let me join your group. i just turned 39 (we'll need a whole new support group next year when i turn 40, i'm afraid i'm not looking forward to leaving this decade). i lost @ 80lbs eight years ago on a low fat diet but then i had my first child and rather than continue to focus on me and my weight - i focused entirely on her and gained most of it back. then i had a couple miscarriages and gained weight with each one until i had my son 2yrs ago. i now weigh @ 240lbs and am 5'6". i tried Weight Watchers last year and lost 50lbs but didn't maintain it and now i weigh more than i did before! i've decided to take charge of my life again and get serious about changing my lifestyle. my ultimate goal is that neither of my children will ever have to struggle with their weight because i will have taught them the proper way to eat (we have a long way to go!). big talk and big plans and i know i will need a lot of support to get there!! can i join you guys on this journey?
Good Morning!
Terry...Congratulations! What a great start! Keep it up!
Hi Hotpotato....Welcome. Good luck. I'm a yoyo'er myself up down 50 - 80 lbs., I can relate. I'm here for you and everyone else who is reading.
I have these long plateaus with my weight. And since I'm here logging everything I do and eat, I finally see my pattern. I'm right on the mark for a couple weeks, the scale shows a loss, then I kind of slack off for a week or two. I don't gain but I don't lose, the first thing I slack off with is my cardio. Then my food creeps up to my maintain calorie level.
The funny thing about this, before CC I would swear I was doing everything right! Really, you don't notice +/- 200 calories a day. But how quickly the 200 becomes 300, 400, 500.......Lesson learned....I have to keep my logs!
Good morning all. I did great yesteray. I didn't exercise because I'm still trying to shake being sick but I did great on eating and my hubby said he could see the difference in my body already. I'm trying to stay off the scale until Friday but I was a "daily" weigher and it so hard not to peek.
I hope you all have a great day.![]()
Hi everyone - I'm hoping you have room for one more!
I' m 41, F - work FT, have a 15 year old son and a 6 year old son. My hubby found this site online and I've fallen in love with it! I'd love to join this group, finally people I can relate to!
I'm currently on the 1200 cal a day plan, with a mini goal of getting rid of 8 more lbs by 3/5/08.
I'm an online addict - so please feel free to contact me anytime!
Regards,
Diana
Welcome welcome to all newbies! Wow - this thread is growing strong.
Well I only did one 1/2 way good thing today - took a mile walk and most of it was up a very very steep hill - so I suppose that's better than nothing. It's been raining in San Diego for weeks now and it's very odd, the first real rain in the 21 years I Have lived here! ![]()
I just need to gain control of my eating - I am so over the top out of control, and it seems like the harder I 'TRY" the worse it gets. Sometimes I think I need some serious intervention. Has any one here thought of stomach surgery??
I never got a chance to log in yesterday, so imagine my surprise with two new faces! I was chasing 4 kids (under 5) and didn't watch my food much, but I didn't have the chance to eat much either. I didn't get any more exercise than chasing them around the house and I am sorry to note that my asthma has kicked my butt again this week, so I don't forsee much strenuous activity right now. Hopefully I can get this under control before the weekend, such a pain in the butt! Okay, not the butt... it is actually my chest right now but you understand.
I did pretty well last week and right now just hope that I did not gain any this week. It is good to hear from everyone and it has helped me to try and stay focused. Hope everyone keeps logging in, I am in better spirits by just hearing from you all.
I think that I will try to take a little indoor walk this morning (the air is a little too dry outside right now), get my blood pumping again and try to clear my head. I'll be checking in on everyone later! Have a good morning and I hope you are able to stay motivated today. ![]()
Good Morning Everyone.
Found a burn calculator that I think may give a little more assurance to those of us that are scared to increase our calories. It's on the Stumptuous web site. Here are the links.
