I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

I'm slowly but surely getting rid of the excess water weight. I have 2 more lbs to get rid of. Probably won't happen for a bit though. That's ok, I know it'll be gone in no time. Wink

I try not to weigh myself often, but I always end up on that scale at one time thru the day. I just keep track every Monday in my journal and I also keep track from the 9th of one month to the 9th of the following month. THAT's the one I like to see! Along with my monthly measurements.

Well, my son is starting conditioning practice for Varsity football. He played in grade school and didn't play 7th-9th grades. Mostly because there weren't many players and he always played quarterback. Didn't want him playing with a small line and being unprotected from the other team. So I'll be busy now with all the things that go along with football (fundraisers, games and all the extra stuff they do).

Have a nice evening!

I weigh myself every morning and usually before i go to bed.  I've learned not to get too crazy over the day to day fluctuations.  I don't see that much more than 1-2 lb difference unless I'm going through an IBS episode.  I think it keeps me more on track to look at my #'s daily.   Years ago when I dropped about 30lbs I used to get on the scale daily either at home or at work.  My climb back up definitely started when my scale at home broke and we moved buildings for work and the scale didn't come along.   I dont' think you really start feeling the difference in your clothing until you already added back 7-8lbs so doing the daily work keeps me on track.

Tammy - good luck with staying focused during football season!  My little guy plays too and my daughter does cheerleading so I know when August comes and practices kick into gear that its get harder to find time for me.  Forget when the games start!

Hey, is it too late to crash the party? I am 44 and I weigh 310 pds. I have struggled with weight since I went on birth control pills at 17. I took them a total of four months and have been messed up since. I went from 130 pds to 190 in those four short months. (Btw, I started taking them one week before I got married.) Then at 19 and 20, children came along and after the birth of my second son at 20, I had my tubes tied and I haven't been under 200 pds in over 24 years. I have went on diet after diet. I would lose 20 pds then the diet would just be so rigid that I couldn't stick with it and I would get off it, gain the 20 pds I lost plus an extra 10. Ergo, you can see why I am 310 pds now. I HATE being fat. I HATE not having the energy to do anything. I work in an office and I'm actually pretty good about not snacking a lot. Yet, I have days when the chocolate monster visits and it seems like I have to have chocolate or die. I just know I don't want to spend the rest of my life like this. So, can I join you guys? I'm open for suggestions on just about everything.

Welcome to the group jeneveir!....new people are always welcome. This is a great group - very supportive.  We usually weigh in on Fridays.  I find this really helps me keep focused.

Welcome Jeneveir this is a great place to start.......... When that chocolate monster rears its ugly head I have a few tricks I like to play, I like to get the sugar free chocolate  pudding snacks and freeze them it taste yummy,I like to freeze them cause it takes me longer to eat it and makes me fill like I have had something special. my other trick is to get dark chocolate kisses I allow my self 3 which most times is plenty.I think the serving size is like 9 kisses    but i never  need that many, my carving if usaully satisfied after 3.Hope this helps. You can do this...........Good luck

Hi all and welcome to all the newbies,

I needed to weigh in early as I start vacation tonight.  I will in Saskatoon ,SK for almost 3 weeks but I hope to stay on track.  My friend I'm visiting wants to loose some and we are going to try to motivate each other while I'm there.

Regarding the chocolate cravings I like Dove promise dark chocolates.  They are 42 calories each and very satisfying.  Also Jello makes a dark chocolate sugar free pudding which is good.  cbear119 -I never thought to freeze it.  What a great idea for summer.

It's funny but I never liked dark chocolate, always went for the milk, but dark now seems to taste better and richer and curbs the cravings faster.

jkppt -Jen - 204 - Loss of 4 and finally off my plateau - Total loss of 30lb since starting CC in March

(Me doing the happy dance:)

Have a great 4th -Jen

I so agree that dark chocolate curbs my carvings faster. I dont know if I have seen the dark chocolate pudding but I will definately check it out.

Have a great 4th everyone

Claire

I'm going to be 48 in 2 weeks and wondering if I can be in this group? I'm 5'3" and my weight seesaws up and down .  I got to 143 a year ago which felt great and now I seem to be closer to 150, still ok but i've started pigging out again so I had to nip it in the bud. I think the highest I've ever been is 172 and for the last few years I've stayed in the 140's, because I get problems from the extra weight, my body hurts a lot and I start having heart & blood sugar issues.

I have to stay low for my health conditions but I manage to stay low enough to feel ok yet never get to the goal for my height. The guideline on this website says 127 for me.  OK, I'd be more than pleased with 135 Laughing

I have had overeating issues my whole life and have realized this is just who I am, I can't change that but having the tools to keep an eye on what I eat and how it counts like this is great!  I have 2 boys and live just outside of NYC.
Good luck to all!

amadea - Join in!  I want to get to 160 then see if I want to go to 150. That's the lowest I'll go. I weigh 179 lbs right now, but I've gained some water weight in the last couple days. GRRRR  I was down to 177. I was up to 236 and I was getting heart palpitations and really feeling bad. So I said enough is enough already!

It's raining here and lousy outside. I want to go to the gym, but hubby has the car. We only have 1, so we share. He's helping his brother get moved. Hope he gets home soon so I can go. I've only gone once this week bc of my back hurting. So I really need to get a workout in. They're closed tomorrow and I don't go on the weekend.

Everyone have a Happy 4th of July!!!! :)

Welcom Amadea - always good to have another New Yawker on the board.  I live on Long Island.  This is a great group for support.

Tomorrow is weigh in day.  At this rate I'd be happy to see my .5 drop.  We'll see.  I went swimming today for a little while and have been pretty good with staying in my calories this week so we'll see.

Hope you made it to the gym Tammy!

Hope everyone has a great 4th!

Hi all and welcome to the new folks!

I'll start off with the weigh-in.  We went to a friend's cottage for Canada Day (Jul 1, it's like your Fourth).  I had treats there which I don't normally allow myself, but I wasn't as bad as previous trips so I'm relieved that I only gained a couple of pounds.  I haven't exercised hard since the cottage, but I've gone for walks.  I really need to find the motivation to get back on the elliptical.

cynthb - Cynthia - 174.2 (up 1.8)

Happy 4th and Happy belated Canada Day!

cynthb - Cynthia - 174.2 (up 1.8)

MissyKris - Kristine - 175  (down 1)

Hooray!  I went shopping earlier in the week for clothes and that really motivated me.  I'm down 1 size to a 10 in most things.  Few shorts were still a little tighter than I would wear so I'm now motivated to be able to fit into any 10 anywhere!   Next stop....8!

I am having a good week! If I get below 150 this summer I may cry, I haven't been there for 20 years. I'm running to the store this am to get supplies for the long holiday, feeling like partying (may have a beer) but I will be doing it all in moderation!!!! I hope everyone else has a good weekend & remember to fit in the walking & exercise to off set the celebrations.

cynthb - Cynthia - 174.2 (up 1.8)

Omagraf - Sandy - 154.5 (down 1)

I'll weigh in tomorrow!  I was off to a parade which started at 10 this morning. I ate before leaving and when I got home I was starved!

The parade was 2 1/2 hrs long and it was great. Floats, bands, cheerleaders, even a pro football player from the Minnesota Vikings! My daughter danced in it with the dance group she's in. It's a very big deal here and it's even covered in the local news.

I got home and went to sleep for a couple hours and now I'm ready for fireworks. My dh bought some and there's enough for a couple hours of bangs and pops!! :D I'm so excited!!!

I'll talk to ya'all in the morning when I weigh in.  Happy and safe 4th of July to everyone! :D

EDIT:  July 5 - My weigh in:

cynthb - Cynthia - 174.2 (up 1.8)

Omagraf - Sandy - 154.5 (down 1)

momof2 - Tammy - 177.2 (down 1.4)

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing!  Its been a bit quiet here this week.

I had a fun weekend but did manage to put on 1.5lbs just on the 4th ....damn brownies!  I buckled down after Friday and am back on track, actually think I'll have a good weigh in on Friday if all stays the same and I don't blow it by bingeing.

I leave for my trip in 2 weeks.  I'm so excited - can't wait to get out of here for a little while.  I am nervous that I will blow my diet over there (Ireland)...I have a soft spot for Irish Sausages (especially the battered ones) One battered sausage is probably 1000 calories!   My mother in law cooks like crazy too - she piles my plate up like I'm one of her burly sons!  I'm going to have to somehow stop that this time.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Guess I'll start the friday weigh in. I hope everyone is having a good week! Hoping to have a new granddaughter sometime today so we are pretty excited here.

Omagraf - Sandy 154.5 (no change)

That's great Sandy, congrats to all!  I hope everyone's healthy!

Kristine I'm sure you'll do fine in Ireland, just have a good time :)

Omagraf - Sandy 154.5 (no change)

cynthb - Cynthia - 173.0 (down 1.2)

Congrats Sandy!  How exciting for you and your family.  Keep us all posted.

Omagraf - Sandy 154.5 (no change)

cynthb - Cynthia - 173.0 (down 1.2)

MissyKris1- Kristine 174.5 (down .5)

I continue my slow crawl to my goal!

Omagraf - Sandy 154.5 (no change)

cynthb - Cynthia - 173.0 (down 1.2)

MissyKris1- Kristine 174.5 (down .5)

momof2 - Tammy - 180.0 (+2.8)

Actually I had gone up to 183 from the 4th and then more bad eating at night. So I'm on my way back down, thank goodness! I've stopped eating at night, for the umpteenth time. I need to stick to it! ;D

Hi guys.  I'm late checking in today.  I have been in Saskatoon and weighed in for the biggest loser challenge on Tuesday but on a different scale and was a whopping 208.  Today I'm 207.5.  I am assuming that her scale weighed me heavy but I don't know how much.  I am trying not to take it hard.  I have been exercising a lot with my friend so I know I am staying on track there.  I had one day off track with a milkshake and brownie sundae but that's the only fall off the wagon.

Omagraf - Sandy 154.5 (no change)

cynthb - Cynthia - 173.0 (down 1.2)

MissyKris1- Kristine 174.5 (down .5)

momof2 - Tammy - 180.0 (+2.8)

jkppt -Jen - 207.5 (can't tell but -.5 since Tuesday)

Have a great weekend,

Jen
