I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Hi all - sorry for the late weigh in.  things are still very hectic.  My weight has fluctuated all over the place in the last week from a low of 169.5 to 173 now I've seemed to level off at 171.  Its a slight gain, but not too unexpected.  Between the stress at work and being a bit under the weather, I haven't been eating very good and find myself snacking again.  I've got to get it together!

Welcom back tamcc - sorry your weight has been creeping back up - but glad we can be here.  We still weigh in on Fridays.  Good luck!

Glad to see you back! We are all still working at it. It is so easy to see the weight creep up, one lb becomes 5 in no time at all. I was looking at some different websites recently on nutrition. The government has one on the food pyramid where you enter what you ate and it tells you where you are off based on the nutritional pyramid. It was interesting, I am lactose intollerant so it told me I was (not surprising) way low in the dairy category. I think I should make sure I get some good supplements and try a little harder to get more dairy. It also told me that my veggies were low, which surprised me. I think that this was the site (I'll go double check after I log this & correct if necessary).

It seems to be a quiet week here online. I made the mistake of looking at my retirement account balance (I really suggest that you don't do that), as a result I have been stressing big time this week. I did manage to lose weight this week, I think that I lost it because of grief (I am mourning the loss of my retirement). Oh well guess I'll just work till I die, I'd go crazy if I actually retired I think.  I was looking back at the early posts this week (no new conversations so I decided to rehash old ones), I know that I had been over 175 last year (that was when I stopped weighing myself), I got more serious about taking care of my health and after I was sure that I had lost some weight I stepped on a scale. In February I weighed about 167, 10 months later and now I can say that I am 15 lbs under that. I feel good about that. It isn't a large number but it is nearly 10 percent of my previous weight so that is good. I hope that everyone has had a good week and if you have been at this awhile maybe it is time to check your old numbers like I did. I have been holding fairly steady for a few weeks now and this made me feel like I had gotten somewhere, even though my numbers haven't been too impressive lately. I will start the weigh in today.

Omagraf - Sandy 152.5 (down 1.3)

Sandy at this point I am happy to not gain... I am having issues with the scale it lies lol...Sandy 1.3 is over a pound of butter (old weight watcher).. that is great...I stayed the same this week. I do exercise everyday, and sort have watch what I eat, of course I cheat, my kids help me do that lol. I have the choice to say no but I never do. Everyday is a new day. Now the stress of the economy is killing me. I am not worried about the market in a way it will fix itself I am sure (I am an optimist),  whats upsetting me is worrying about the prices of groceries, heat and taxes. Not just for me but my friends and children how will they all survive. Anyway another day on that thought. Oh and retirement, I wonder when that will be lol.. I too would go crazy if I didn't work, but it does sound nice. Have a great week all. It can only get better.... Pat

Well, not the best first week, but I made an attempt.  I fell victim to a couple of giant M & M sugar cookies.  Besides that, I did pretty good but didn't see much on the scale.  This time around I am taking a different approach than all of my diets in the past.  When I make a mistake or go off of my plan, I will try hard the next day to get on track....I will try every day.  I have a history of messing up and then giving up...for maybe months.  Not this time.  If I do nothing else, I will try every day.  I am happy to say that even with not doing much to watch my diet in months, I only went up 5.5 pounds.  Not too bad for months.  I know I can do better.  Thanks for the welcome back.

Hi again!  Sorry for missing last week, but it was Canadian Thanksgiving and we were at a friend's cottage all weekend, then at my in-laws for a big feast Monday night.  I was bad, and I knew I'd be bad, but I guess all I can do is pick myself up and keep going.  Hope the rest of you had a great week!

cynthb - Cynthia - 180.2 (up 4.2)

Ok I am up 5 go figure, well I am fully dressed. I am going to start weighing in fully clothed since half the time I forget to weigh in until I am dressed. So I am taking the big hit and hope from now on it will be down. New start today... Good luck all.

Pretty good week.  Again, just starting back into it, so it is easy to be motivated right now....give me a few weeks and the struggles will begin.

HI all...I'm still here just still very busy and stressed.  I think last week was the worse. I still have a job, so that is a good thing!  I've been eating horribly and been suffering with my IBS bad (which is probably due to my diet) however, despite all this I am still 171.  No change, but with Halloween around the corner i'm a bit nervous.  I have NO self control when that candy is in the house.

Anyway, hope everyone is well.  Hopefully I will have a better week this week/

Sorry I didn't remember to check in Friday. I did weigh myself so I had the data to put in. Things are crazy at work, our annual audit time (man does everyone get grumpy).

I have gotten smarter over the years, for those who haven't got their own safety plan in place: I only buy halloween candy I don't like. Lately I am really into the gummy candies, blood shot eye balls, bloody body parts, gummy mummies and skull lollipops are all in my basket. The kids love it (and it is themed for the holiday), I have some smarties for the younger kids (who might get creeped out). It is so much cheaper than the stuff I like and I have no problem keeping the stuff around. Really disgusting when my oldest grandson got hold of one of the eye balls and yells "Hey Oma, I'm gotta eat it while it looks at me". Kind of kills my appetite. I found them all at the superstore mega chain place and they were so cheap! A couple years ago I bought 3 cases of Mtn Dew Black (on sale) and handed them out (man did the kids think I was great). So if you have the chance, be creative and stock up on what you will not eat! Hope you all have a good week! I have an auditor scheduled at my desk on Thursday so that should help stress me into not eating much the day before we weigh in!

I guess everyone has had a busy week, no one has stopped in since Monday. Well it is Friday again...it is going to rain here all weekend I think. Chance of the s word this weekend as well, I refuse to make a snowman in my leaf pile! Hope you are all well, I didn't get much exercise this week. It is the annual run of audits right now, the Workerman's comp people and the anti money laundering review a both done now. Lots more scheduled in the next two weeks, a great reason to celebrate at the holidays as these will be over by then.

Well here is my friday update:

Omagraf - Sandy 152.3 (about the same)

Yes it's been a busy week for me too, and it'll be a busy weekend.  We're driving 2 hours on Sunday to take home a hedgehog from a rescue (we already have one from the same rescue).  I'm down a couple, but it's not due to any work on my part; I think my body's just getting rid of the cottage excess :)

The walks to work are getting cooler; it's been around freezing in the morning when I go to work, which really wakes you up.

Hope everyone's doing well and had a great week!

Late again!   Things are still hectic .  I'm happy that I'm holding steady on my weight given that I haven't exercised and I'm not eating the way I should.  I do feel it in my body though. I have minor problems with heart palpitations/irregular heartbeat and that is starting to get worse again.  I have an appt next week to get it looked at.

After all these years, I'm finally seeing how the correlation between eating well and feeling good. I know I feel like crap because thats what I'm putting into my  body.   The good news is that it is driving me to get back into getting back on track

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Kristine

We had our first snow stay on the ground last night, which always makes me want to curl up with a mug of hot cocoa.  I don't know if you can get President's Choice brand in the U.S., but they make a really nice low-cal hot chocolate.  The walk to work was slippery this morning, but there wasn't much accumulation on the sidewalks fortunately.

Hope everyone's having a good week!

Good Day / week to all. I got tied up and never weight in Friday.. I will weigh in this friday, I have been doing ok, not great but I am trying... I hope all is well with the rest.. tc and have a great week.

I'll get started today I guess :) We're in an apartment building without children (mostly seniors), so there won't be any trick-or-treating to our door tonight, which means no pigging out for me on candy *phew*.  I do have a bag of Werther's, butterscotch hard candies if you don't have those in the States.  I have one of those when I'm really wanting something sweet, and the 20 cal from a hard candy is much much better than some of the alternatives!

This week we were pretty good - no eating out, no walking down to the ice cream place down the street (they have something like 40 flavours out, all homemade).

I hope everyone's week went well too!

cynthb - Cynthia - 175.8 (down 1.6)

Ok I lost a little, little better than nothing. I need to go back to recording what I eat daily. It seems I just dont have the time. But goal is to improve that. Have a great week all.

Nothing new & exciting right now. I am getting ready to take 3 toddlers to FL on the 8th. A nice long trip running around the "Mouse's House" should help my exercise program out a bit. My brother and his wife are going with us (I wanted to take my niece, so I talked them into coming) I think that he is more jazzed than the kids! Once a year I take kids from the family, this year it is a 3, 4 and 5 year old. I am crossing my fingers that the weather stays in the 70's, that is just great for me not too hot and not too chilly. If I don't remember to check back in Friday I hope you all know that I will check in as soon as I get back.

Here I am posting twice in a row...wait am I hearing an echo in here? How is everyone? I got another injection of the good asthma medication and am feeling really perky today (sorry). I am also getting ready to leave on vacation with 3 of my little people and am really feeling good about my weight today. Had a bad spell this week of bloating and such, but I seem to have that under control right now. I hope you all have a good week and I hope to be able to catch up on everyone's posts when I get back.

Omagraf - Sandy 151.6 (down a little, yeah!)

Gm Well gained the two I lost last week... This is getting a bit depressing. I have had the stomach bug for a couple of days one would have thought there would be a loss not a gain.. Have a great week all and good luck.
