I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Quote  |  Reply

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Hope you have a great time Sandy, and hooray for the loss! Pat, I'm up too as well, I've been working on the same 5 pounds for months it seems.  I've been on course most of this week, and pretty good food-wise, but I'm still up again.

Here we go for the week!  I've been good food-wise, but haven't got back on the elliptical (bad! bad!).  We had Remembrance Day on Tuesday; not sure if you have something similar, but it's to remember soldiers who gave their lives.  I took the day off, and stood outside in the wind watching the parade and speeches.

I'll probably end up posting twice in a row again, but hello. I have not checked in since I got back to town (bad Sandy, bad). I managed to stay outside in the night air too long and caught something in my throat, I have been coughing for 8 days now (really tired of this right now). I have not been able to get much exercise this week because of the cough, but I haven't been eating much besides soup and tea so I am hoping to be pretty ok when I step on the scale.  I'd like to know what I am burning, is there a calorie count on coughing? LOL! Hope you are having a good week, hope to hear from you tomorrow.

Sandy

Sorry to hear that you caught something.  I hope you're not feeling too draggy; colds really sap my energy level.  Take care and hope to hear from you tomorrow!

Cynthia

Good morning everyone! I am still dragging a bit (day 9) not feeling bad but coughing (which is lousy on my lungs), I think that it is clearing a bit now so I hope to be back to normal soon. The sick and soup diet has pulled through for me yet again! I hope to be in the 140's for Thanksgiving, that would excite me! I will be pushing harder at the gym next week if my lungs are up to it, I am feeling a little motivated. I hope you all check in today, I hope to hear some good news from you all. I ran into someone I haven't seen in 15 years and she mentioned that I still looked good (I was about 135 when she last saw me). I hope to get closer to that 135 neighborhood again.

Good luck all, Sandy

Hi everyone!

I'm down a little bit, and hopefully can keep this going.  I'm not getting much exercise other than my walk to work; our evenings have been really busy.  Hopefully your cough will clear up soon Sandy, that really sucks.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Down is always good here! I am always happy if I can get it around a lb at a time. My husband has my cough now, he keeps trying to tell me exactly how he feels and where he hurts...I just smile and say "Yeah, I know." Too funny, like I wasn't the one trying to cough up a lung just a few days ago. I am really looking forward to the holiday weekend, one of my grandbabies turns one Sunday and so we are having lots of parties this weekend. I am hoping to be able to behave enough to not gain (or not much). I am also shopping this weekend so maybe I'll walk some extra off!

I hope you are having a good week and I will be checking in on Friday, not sure that I will be checking in early or later in the day...but I'll be there sometime. I hope everyone shows up and is down (at least a little bit).

Glad to hear your cough is better, although it's too bad your husband had to get it after you!

Oh well, so much for last week's loss :(  We had a week of eating out - father-in-law's birthday among other things (and there's a party tomorrow night for the same birthday).  It's his 65th, though, so worth celebrating for sure.  I've had a tasty week for sure, but not a "good girl" kind of week diet-wise *grin*.

I am the same as last week, which is actually pretty good considering the parties this week. I did try to "power" shop this weekend, my daughters complain that I walk a little too briskly when I am in the "power" shop mode. I have Christmas pretty well done now though so that is great. I can't wait for the holiday's we have a grandbaby who just turned one (one of my parties this week) and she loves the lights, music and parties. That makes it so much more fun. I am going to get more agressive this month on my gym workout. I realized that I am very close to being on this site for a year now and while I have made good progress I want to be in really good shape for the first anniversary of my sign up! Motivation is motivation, no matter where I find it right? Smile

Hello!  Glad to see you guys are still here!  I kind of fell into a funk there for a while and just lost steam.  I think I'm ready to get going again and finally reach my first goal (165) - which I was only about 5lbs away from at one point. I'm now 7.5lbs away.  I was up to about 175 and that was enough to shock me back into action.  I really don't want to put back on all the weight.

I started my horror commute to Jersey City two weeks ago (2 hrs each way - on a good night) and am still feeling pretty sorry for myself.  However, after all the people that are losing their jobs here in the financial industry, I know I shouldn't complain.   I had to quit my gym membership in the city since I wouldn't be able to get there anymore and now rejoined the one by my house.  With my families crazy schedule, I'll be happy to make it there 3-4x a week and use the treadmill at home in between.

Enough of my whining - time to get busy.  I'm hoping to lose the 2.5lbs by the end of the month and be right on track for 2009!

Great to see you back Kristine. What stress you must have been going through lately! Really you have done pretty well for the past month, you only put on 1.5 lbs. I don't know how you make that commute, that would be enough to have me packing on the lbs. There have been years when I had to put up with some hardships to keep my job, so far things are good but I am a bit worried about way the economy will affect us at work.

But I digress...I am here to weigh in! Not an inspiring weight loss, but not a gain either so I am happy about it. Good luck to you all!

Omagraf - Sandy 150.8

Welcome back Kristine!  I don't know how you do that commute.  I'm really lucky that I was able to find a nice apartment downtown so I can walk to work, but I know that not everyone has that option.  I'm up, not surprisingly with the company Christmas party last night, but I did work out this week so it's not as bad as it could have been.

Good Morning Friday Weigh-in's,

I am in a good mood, not so much the weight but just in general. Family is visiting and we are partying this weekend. Celebrating a couple baptisms, my Dad's 74th birthday and (of course) a Christmas get together with relatives from Texas. Lots of good German beer and food, I will have to work to sweat this off later but it is worth it. It should be a loud and crazy weekend for me, but work has been icky and I have been missing my family lately so I am ready to relax a little. I hope everyone is having a good week and has a better weekend!

It is exciting to finally be in the 140's, the goal is getting closer - less than 20 lbs to go (I'd probably have a great BMI if I weren't so short). There was a report where women with a BMI around 25 were actually living longer than women in any other BMI range, so maybe I am not too unhealthy!

Omagraf - Sandy 149.8 (down 1lb, I'll gain that back this weekend)

Hooray, congrats Sandy, that's great!  You've really worked to get there.  Enjoy your weekend with your family :)

I'm having a busy time at work, and also busy getting together the presents that have to be mailed.  Most of my family is in another province.  I had my annual check-up this past Monday, and my doctor said that I'm in pretty good health.  My BMI is just into overweight (26.3), and she's not too worried but I'd still like very much to get into the "healthy" range which for my height is around 135 to 165.

Omagraf - Sandy 149.8 (down 1lb, I'll gain that back this weekend)

cynthb - Cynthia - 178 (down 1.8, we'll see)

Well, today I'm back up significantly.  Some of that is monthly bloating, but I'm sure that not all of it is attributable to that.  I've been good all week, but still it's disappointing to see the scale jump in the wrong direction.

I hope all of you are having fun preparing for Christmas!  I'm working until Monday, then I'm off Tuesday and go back on the 5th.  I plan on keeping up the elliptical during the vacation, to hopefully keep the pounds gained to a minimum.

cynthb - Cynthia - 181.2 (up 3.2)

Sorry I am behind on checking in. Things have been crazy here lately. The relatives left town and we got hit by that ice storm. It looks like a tree bomb exploded here, limbs and whole trees all over the place. I have a decent sized tree trunk laying on my roof right now. It hasn't actually fallen yet but if frozen as if in mid fall. A little odd...Lots of power outages since Friday morning so no way to get on line. We had almost 100,000 customers out of power. Things are getting back to normal, but there is a little snow headed our way today so I am hoping that it is ok to travel in the morning. Man, how long till summer?

I am feeling the bloat this week myself. Probably paying for the family party still. I hope to be back to normal in time to weigh in on Friday morning. I do believe that I put on a lb or two with the celebrating. Hope everyone has a good holiday and I hope that none of you see this kind of storm.

P.S. anyone need any firewood? Fresh cut!

Well here I am again, I didn't try to check in on Friday because it looks like everyone was busy. I did weigh myself and am happy that I am:

Sandy - Omagraf - 149.8

I am pretty happy that I am back to where I was Dec 12th before all the big parties. I hope that a few people check back in soon. I have wondered how some are doing. I always get interested in people and when they are gone it is like not reading the last chapter of a good book. Good luck to all and let me know how you are doing this holiday season. I hope to make it back to the gym this week (the holidays kept me away, but I didn't fall too far off the wagon).

Hi again!  Glad to hear you're holding steady Sandy!

Sorry that I didn't check in over the holidays but it was crazy.  My husband's extended family is all in this area, and we had one event after another.  The waistline has suffered, and I was at 186.2 this morning, yikes!

I have started back exercising, though, and I intend to make that more than just a New Year's resolution.

cynthb - Cynthia - 186.2, up 5

Hello! Glad to see someone else stopped by, I was hoping that the holidays are just keeping people busy. I have been a little punk lately and am suffering for it on the scale. I am up a couple lbs right now, hoping that some is just bloating but I will see what happens when I step on the scale again Friday. I am still hoping to make some more progress before I hit the one year anniversary here in Feb. I don't expect to be at my goal or anything but every extra lb I drop is just that much better when I celebrate the end of the 12th month.

Progress toward the goal is progress, no matter the amount.

Well it is Friday and I am still bloated (running out of fat clothes this week for work!). I may have to break down and try to take something to reduce the water, this being female is sometimes a pain in the backside! Oh well, I was cruising around and found an interesting website:

www.wellsphere.com

There were some good exercise videos (you tube style) and some interesting reading. I have only checked it out a little at this point, but I plan to go back again and watch some more exercise videos. They had some on using the ball that I have at home and I like the ball, they were only about 2 min each so nothing too time consuming. I plan to check out the nutrition and diet sections next time I visit there also.
