I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?
Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Wow! 57 miles in one weekend? A third 5k in the same year? You guys are awesome!
Today was Weigh Day for me, and I lost one pound. But...today, I hit the 20 pound mark, so I'm happy. :) Hope everyone else has a good week, too.

Hello....
My weekend was nothing out of the ordinary for the most part. I worked out hard on Saturday. Went to a movie, which was weird since I hadn't been to one in forever. It was nice though.
I bought new bike and while I was out riding it enjoying the nice weather, my son called.
I had to take him to hospital. He was having hard time breathing. He has bronchial pneumonia, not fun. So we spent a few hours at ER.
Have a good week
Oh, wow...bronchial pneumonia...not good! Here's hoping your son will have a speedy recovery.
Ouch, bronchial pneumonia! Hope he gets better soon!
Hope your son is feeling better, Alicia. My son had the flu this weekend so our plans were squashed too. Least I didn't overeat at BBQ's! Its funny to see peoples reactions when you say he had the flu....its such a taboo word here in NY these days. He's fine now - recovered in 3 days and didn't "oink" once. lol
The scale still hasn't moved but I can say I think I'm finally back in a real focused mode. I had signed up to participate in an "extreme frisbee" competition at my kids school (parents vs teachers) and couldn't believe how unfit I've become. It got me motivated to get moving again. I went bike riding for a while with my daughter, played a lot of ball and found a nice place to walk at lunch time. Its only been a few days and I feel like a broken record but I think I'm back in the mode.
I don't think I'll see much of a change tomorrow when I weigh-in but definitely expect to see something next week. thats the plan anyway!!
Hope you all are having a good week!
Cynthia….that is awesome that you got in another 5K. I wish I didn’t have knee problems as running looks like a blast. My friend Tony was my weight loss buddy here in town. He dropped like 60lbs and actually did a ½ marathon. I was totally blown away by that. I mean he had to walk at times, but it is cool to see people so determined to achieve a personal goal that they push themselves that hard for no reason other than personal satisfaction. I think you runners are extremely inspiring.
I am schedule to do a “century” ride around my 43rd Bday in August. My longest single day ride is just over 50 miles, so 100 miles should be interesting. I figure it will take about 10-12 hours. Hopefully I can make it through with nothing more than a sore butt.
My wife bought me a tshirt that is pretty inspiring…I hope I don’t offend anyone, but it is a black Nike shirt and in large white/red letters it says “Every Damn Day, Just Do It”
Cool shirt. I think we could all use one! :)
Making an effort this week to slightly increase the cals again. I guess the riding burns more than I am accounting for. I went for a nice casual 14.5 mile ride last night. It was great until it started pouring rain/lightning and I was 3 miles from the nearest town. Rode to a little restaurant that was closed and sat on the porch for almost an hour with another biker. Waited till the lightning was over and rode over 7 miles back to my starting point in the rain. Strangely enough, it was a blast to ride in the rain.

I am really chuckling over the "maintaining thing", I need to lose more and seem to only maintain! Work has still had me chained to my desk 10 hours a day, overtime is not that much fun anymore. I am off next week and cannot wait to get some things done that I have not had the energy to get to.
I hope everyone has a good weekend, I plan to spend most of it outside and I am really excited about that!

I wish I could go back to maintaining at least! I was down all week, then yesterday was my birthday so we went out for Indian food, mmmm my favourite. I didn't overeat, I only had one plate at the buffet plus dessert, but I'm still up. Maybe spicy food makes you retain water, that's the only thing I can think of for going up 2lbs in 1 day. Other than that, I had a great week and a great birthday. My husband sent me balloons and a teddy bear to work :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Cynthia
I don't have much to report. I didn't work out much this week. To much going on. My son is still sick, but starting to feel better. But now I am sick. I don't think its what he has though. I woke up at 1am and had to change my shirt. I had a fever and sweated so much.
I think I am going to dr today. This feels more like the flu than anything.
I think I am still maintaining. No gain no loss. Still at 245
Have a good week everyone

TGIF.....sheesh, this was a long week. Been onsite working at a Diabetes Center all week. Haven't ridden my bike since Sunday. I had a "injury" and decided to take a week off after seeing the Doctor. I am leaving for the Outer Banks tonight after work for a family vacation with my entire family (close to 20 of us). It will make eating right a little difficult, but I'll survive.
Terry - 193 - No change.
TGIF for sure! This week I was between projects at work, which makes the days drag on forever. I did the first week of a 5k running program, at www.personalrunningtrainer.com, which is a workout of 30 minutes plus 5 minutes each warmup and cooldown. This week was run 1 minute, walk 2 minutes, and it gets harder from there. I did eat out twice this week, but I had a chicken wrap both times, and banana bread with icing for dessert. This weekend we're off to a friend's cottage. I'll have to watch myself with all the snacks etc.

This week has been different, for sure. Hubby was called back to work after being out for almost 6 months...yay! But, there's a down side...he gets home too late to watch our 4 year old so my older daughter and I can walk, so I haven't really exercised in a week. To my surprise, I find that I actually miss it! So, I'm looking for a good jog stroller so the little one can walk with us. Until I find one, I guess I will have to force myself to use some of the dusty old DVD workouts that are cluttering my cabinet...even though I hate them. I did manage to lose 2 pounds this week, but I know I have to get with the exercise if I want to keep losing. Have a good weekend, everyone!

I am so glad its Friday...It has been a long week for me too. I guess not feeling well and still doing my normal work stuff has left me exhausted. Last weekend I was in bed most of the weekend with over 100 degree temp. I didn't think it would ever go down.
I went to dr on friday and found out I have double ear infection. Not fun I tell ya. So I really haven't done a lot of exercising this week. I tried riding my stationary bike, but it made breathing difficult since I was congested already.
I had a health screen at work on Tuesday and everything looks better this year than it did last year, except one thing. My HDL is lower than last year which is not good since last year was already below where it should be. It makes no sense. I was told last year if I exercise it would bring it up so thats partly why I started my journey to weight loss. One good thing is last year I was pre diabetic and this year I am not. Please about that.
Anyway I am down 2 pounds. Think its because I haven't ate much with being sick. Have a good week

What a bummer, everyone has been sick or otherwise out of commission lately. Alicia, my best record of weight loss was what I called my sick soup diet. A rough way to go! Kathryn - great news on the job for you guys, congrats! Cynthia, I pack on the water weight really bad after Chinese and Indian foods so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that someone else does also!
I was out visiting relatives last week, managed to stay away from too much of the bad stuff and have done better than I expected. I am really looking forward to the weekend myself, I am a bit behind on my exercise goals and I need to get better about that!

Well, here it is...Friday, again! Yayyy! I can really feel the lack of exercise and it's showing on the scale...no change. The new stroller is here, so I'll be walking again this weekend...I can't wait! Hope everyone else had a good week.

Another week gone by! It was a sad week, because a good friend had to put his dog to sleep, and she was a very cheerful part of our group of friends. She was 22, though, and had lived a good long life.
I've been running as planned, but I'm up again. Sigh. I need to be more disciplined on weekends. We have a get-together every Friday at the same friend's place, and we usually order out, and I think that's where part of the problem lies.

Well I am so glad its friday. It has been a crazy week. On Tuesday I volunteered at the food bank packing apples. Let me tell ya, it was one tuff job, but I had fun. I have been sore ever since. My lower back and back of my thighs have been screaming at me since then. I think I pulled something in my back or maybe just found muscles never use. At any rate I haven't done much this week.
Have a good week.
