I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?
Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Congrats on the good week Tammie!
Tammy...of course you can join in. Just weight in on Friday and join in the conversation whenever you would like.
On a side note guys...I hit the 15lb mark this morning. A couple of days prior to my 3 week start date. That means 5 more pounds till I reach my first goal of 20 pounds. I think 20 pounds is the number that I need to hit to mentally believe that I am really on my way and can really do this. I just hope the losses keep coming.
I read in another forum where a guy suggested that folks stop referring to this as a diet. He said that this isn't a diet, but a lifestyle change. He said diet is a four letter word that we should lose from our vocabulary. Just thought I would share.
I envy you. Ever since I can remember I've always have been intrigued with light house. I have a longing to spend a week doing nothing but exploring light houses. I did get to exploring one light house in Honolulu in November, but it was not at a leisure pace.
Keep up the work.

Have you been to Kansas to take photos? Sounds like we have the same passion.

Really guys, what a good week. I had no change but since I (like others) l was not well I am happy that I didn't gain.
It is a lifestyle change that is for sure. That is why I didn't gain even though I wasn't losing, I was watching what I ate. Good thought to remember, I cannot go back to the way I was (or I'll be not weighing myself again so I don't have to know what the scale says). Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am going to go do some walking right now and am hoping that everyone else who was under the weather last week is on the mend!
I think I am starting to look forward to the Friday weigh ins.
Missed Friday's weigh in but I weighed this morning after recalubrating my scale to be the same as the doctor's. I lost 2 pounds so I am down to 193yeaaaaaaaa![]()

Very good point Terry. As a professional yo yo dieter for the last 7 or 8 years, I know that "diets" don't work any longer than you stick with them. I have finally come to the realization that this is a life long journey. It doesn't mean that I have to be a restrictive as I am now, but it doesn't mean I can go back to my old habits either. I have to find a happy middle. When I get down to my goal, that will be the hardest part for me. Also, exercise should be part of my life every day, not only for weight loss, but for my overall health. Sounds like we had a great week as a group. Congrats to everyone. Welcome to Tammy....

Yes! As many times that I've lost and gained, the bodily changes are so strange. Now I'm losing weight but also fighting the menopause changes that occur. It's not a pretty sight. LOL But anything is better than what I was!
And maintenance? It's so foreign to me. My doctor wants me to lose all but 20lbs of my goal weight. She believes that if I can maintain that for a year, then I'll be more successful at maintaining my goal weight when I finally achieve it. I think she might have a point. I'm willing to try it. Nothing else helped me with maintenance before.
cbear...what is the apple challenge?
Wow...how time flies. It has been exactly three weeks today since I started this crazy plan to get healthy. As of this morning, I have lost a total of 16 pounds! Basically I had set 4 "goals" to get to my target weight. The first goal is 20lbs, so I am getting close.
I think I asked a week or so ago if anyone was taking One A Day Weight Smart vitamins. I was reading on some journal entries and I read where this young lady added green tea and One A Day weight smart vitamins to her daily routine and she noticed an slight increase in her weight loss. Last Monday, I added both to my diet to see what happened. I lost 5lbs the first week, 4 lbs the second week and this week I lost 7lbs. Obviously I can't say it had anything to do with the tea/vitamins, but it was my best week so far.
Also thanks for the nice comments on the pic. It's something I really enjoy. I have a website in progress if you want to check it out.

Give it a sec and a slideshow will start. Click on the icon above "page three" and you can have music. A few of the galleries have pics in them, the rest I am still working on.
I'm up six pounds from Friday this morning, blech. I didn't run this morning because I needed the extra time to get to work; it's freezing rain out and the sidewalks haven't been salted yet. I know intellectually it's just water weight and that I didn't eat 6x3500 calories this weekend, but still! Grrr!
Terry - I take Quest multivitamins. They're not weight loss specific, but they have a good balance of vitamins / minerals, assuming you can absorb those in pill form which I sometimes wonder. I call them my daily horse pill because they're huge :)
I had a quick look at your site because I'm at work, but I love the wildlife photos, especially the baby raccoon on the branch, very cute and very clear!
I confess that I am a bit overboard when it comes to weighing in. I weigh myself every morning. If I have lost, I will weigh myself several times to make sure I really lost the pounds. I also weigh when I am trying to reach a goal. That way I know if I need to work harder or whatever.
I hurt my back over the weekend and was in a lot of pain yesterday. I still walked 3 miles at lunch today, but I was struggling for sure. Hopefully it won't affect my workouts this week as my one month date is next Monday and I REALLY want to drop 4 pounds!
Is it good to weigh your self so often? I find when I do that if the numbers arent moving I get frusrated and tend to back slide.I am trying to weigh in only once a week.
Hope your back is better soon![]()
Hi everyone!
I am trying to figure out just how mamy calories I'm suppose to be eating. This site tells my my bmr is 1930, I go to google's calculator and it says 1633. Then this site tells me to eat 1200 cals a day, but then I hear to eat 500 less than your bmr to lose a pound a week and not to have more than 1000 deficit with your exercise. But I don't know how many calories to eat!!!! I've gained a pound eating 1300-1400 and I exercise lightly bc of back problems and my legs hurt me terribly. And I might exercise 2 times a week. Someone help me!!! I can't do this by myself.
Why am I so thirsty all of the time?
Severe thirst is a symptom of a several medical conditions including diabetes, pituitary gland problems, and diseases associated with the loss of fluid... Read more
