I used to travel 6 months out of the year.  I always lost weight during that time.  There are workout rooms in the hotels...and if you are busy enough with work you won't have time to eat much at all.
"you may think, 'why's she all freakin out?'" Oh, I know why you're freaking out. :) This will indeed be a good test of your self-control. But you can do it.

1. You said "suite". Is there a kitchenette there, or at least a fridge? Get yourself to the supermarket and pick up some milk, cereal, instant oatmeal (heat water in the coffeemaker), fresh fruit, or whatever other good breakfast foods to which you're partial. Lunches as well: bagged salad, shaved turkey breast, etc.

2. No fridge? The buffet is not your only option. Order from the menu, and look for healthy stuff.

3. Is the buffet your only option? Go with a plan. Get a little notebook and write down what you'll allow yourself to eat for breakfast, then STICK TO THAT LIST. Use the smallest plate they have, drink lots of water, eat slowly, and pay attention to your food and not the newspaper or TV.

I had the good luck to stay at a Residence Inn the last time I spent a week on business. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, stove, glasses, plates, and silverware, and my bed was in a separate room. No single hotel room I've ever stayed in could compare with those things.

Anywho, good luck, and stay strong!

ohh, it's not "me" who's working! im only 17!!!  my dad owns the hotels, im just staying there because of some particular reason back home...

but yes, one thing im really grateful about is that they have an enormous and wonderful gym!!!! Laughing and it's not like far away, so i'll be able to go there every day.

im thinking about swimming also... because i've heard that swimming helps you gain lean muscles instead of bulking up. like... it stretches ur bulked up muscles, so that u look really nice overall.. Smile

is this true?

~ Sealed im really worried because i really LACK self-control... but at the same time, since im lacking that quality, this could be a real good challenge for me, yeah?

~ oh, yeah there's an entire kitchenette here with the fridge, sink, blahblah blah. Hmm.... wow, i've never thought too much about that... so you're basically saying... make yourself at home!!!! Tongue out you know what? that could actually work EXTREMELY WELL!!! wow... why have i not thought about it before...

~ i try to take it slowly when i do eat at the buffet.... and talk a lot with ppl and stuff.... i also thought that if i actually calculated and summed up how many calories i was having up until that very last bite, i would easily feel guilty if i ate too much. the only disadvantage of this would be that.... it would take TOO MUCH WORK... and i definitely wouldn't ENJOY my food at all... id be too focused on calculating and numbers numbers and numbers!

THANKS A LOT!!!

You'll just have to be very selective about the buffet.  It's actually a good thing because you'll have fresh fruit and whole grain products available to you.  Choose whole grain cereals, low fat or fat free dairy products, and help yourself to generous amounts of fruit.  Walk right past the eggs and meats, and the white breads and sugary things.

You have some kitchen facilities, so you'll be able to keep salad vegetables on hand.  Make sure you have some way to steam vegetables.  If the hotel buffet for other meals has a salad bar, choose raw veggies and bring them to your room to steam.

You're going to be just fine!

If you're a "taste a little of this and of that" remind yourself that you can have the breakfast buffet EVERY DAY so you don't have to try everything in the first week.

Get a basic breakfast thing going like fruit and toast or yogurt and veggie omelet, whatever.  Let yourself vary from it twice a week.  That's it, 2 times out of 7.  That way if you splurge on Monday and Tuesday you know you need to "be good" for the rest of the week.  Conversely, you can say, "I know my favorite _____ will be here tomorrow so I won't treat myself today."  It really does help.
If you're just worried about the breakfast buffet, you could buy your own cereal and just use their milk. Or buy your own packets of oatmeal. I bet they'll have lots of free fruit there! Ignore the pancakes, etc and go for the whole wheat toast. What I would do is just pick out the healthy items but if I saw something that was really tempting, I'd try a small portion on the first day, just to get it out of my mind.

Buffets are the worst... so tempting!

My advice is skip the buffets and live out of the mini-fridge. That's what I do when I'm traveling and stuff, and last time I went overseas I lost weight! I get cereal and milk, some rooms have coffee pots or microwaves (if you're there for two months, pick up a small electric hot-plate, and some cheap dishes/pots, it shouldn't cost you too much) and heat up some of your own food in your room. Keep fruit and veggies in the fridge, low-sodium soups and beans, oatmeal, hummus, pita, healthy breads and condiments and sandwich supplies. :-) Have fun!

If you got to the buffet, just do as other people say, and choose healthier choices (avoid sausages and bacon, pastries, etc) and remember that if you want to try something you can always wait a day to be sure you want it, because it'll be there the next day on the buffet. Many times you can get simple stuff like oatmeal, fruit salad, and wheat toast with jam, that isn't too bad for you. You may even be able to take fruit with you for snacks later in the day.

~ im really thankful that im not a big fan of meat!! (im not veggie or vegan tho!) i never liked steak, chicken, etc etc. nor am i a big fan of omelets...scrambled eggs (i had less than 5 SE's my entire lyf!!)  but i mean, i CAN eat them y'know? LOL

~ why are "steamed veggies" so good?? when ur saying "steamed," ur actually saying "steamed" right?? like... hot..?

~ Laughing you know what ! ! ! !    i just realized something... something just dawned on me......

i seriously doubt that i would be eating constantly for 2 months straight. ill probably get tired of the buffets pretty soon, like at most 2 weeks after moving in!!!

~ i don't think i'll need to worry about having an AWESOME APPETITE every day for the next 2 months or so!!

~ but yes, definitely.!! it would help if i kept in mind that i would allow myself at most 2 days to have my "favorites"!!! Tongue out

thanks!

~ they got oatmeal at the hotel... and muesli.... but muesli has lots of calories lol!!! they also got many different types of cereals... there's at least 8 different types of cereals every day: special K, rice krispies, corn flakes, etc etc. special k's are good!!! Yum!!! Tongue out

~ they also got waffles with raspberry sauce... this is something that's pretty tempting!!! the sauce!!! yeah they have pancakes also, but im not too worried about them, since i dont' think i'll be eating them too often!!!

~ i know they have diff. types of sushi... dimsums, huuuuuuuge salad bar...rice...many diff types of bagels....cheese.....MILLION types of bread....milk....juice......yoghurt........cr ackers........ even pizza..........donuts..........and many more...   i think it'll be too much for me to keep up!!!

::: ainedb :::

~ Surprised WHOA WHOA WHOAA!!! skip the buffet as a whole?!?!?!

~ yiiikes.. iono if i'll be able to do that!!!!

~ about all kitchenwares such as pots, dishes, etc... the ppl there already got those stuff all prepared for me in my suite...but i don't cook!!!! i don't even know how to!!! i know.. isn't it weird...

~ but i defiintely know that eating "smart" will definitely be a great way to be healthy!!!!!

Look at it this way - there are good things about living in a hotel too... one, you don't have a fully-stocked kitchen right in front of you, so 'snack attacks' are cut down - you have to make more of an effort to actually get something to eat... (only have healthy food in your kitchenette (like fruit to snack on) and two, you've got a fully-equipped gym and nice large pool to play with!

There are plenty of good choices you can make at the breakfast buffet too... grainy cereal is good, fruit is VERY good, eggs are good protein (as long as they're not fried). Just stay away from the pastries etc.  Since you're going to be there for a long time you'll probably find that the junk loses its appeal after awhile anyway - most things are nicer in the contemplation than the actual eating.
