I don't like the Nobama stickers because you have no choice. You either support him or support McCain. Just stick the McCain sticker on your car and be done with it. Otherwise you're just wasting my time with your so called "opinion" which is really just an anti-opinion. =/

(That probably sounded a lot meaner than I felt, haha!)

Just as bad are the McCan't.  I am an Obama supporter, but that was just bad.

Actually I refuse to watch campaign commercials anymore.. they are HORRIBLE and I don't think that either party should be allowed to do that any more.. Tell me why I should vote for you, not why I should NOT vote for the other guy! grr

^5 Dove. That's exactly how I feel about it too.

I lived in SW Michigan for about 5 years. When we first moved there quite a few neighbors brought over little housewarming gifts with invites to their church. Quite a few were the same church. When we never showed up at church and they discovered we didn't go to church at all they quit talking to us. It was funny to hear them talk about thier community being a friendly, open and welcoming area.

It was predominantly Lutheran and very conservative. They reinforced for me why I despise organized religion and I began to loathe the conservative mindset.

I'm a huge Obama supporter, especially after watching all the debates and my addiction to CNN lol. I just love how McCain said 5 mos ago he was going to lead a respectful campaign, but someones getting desperate now. Suddenly, Obama's a terrorist!!!

It's sad to say I have no sign. I did order a button though!

Lol!  It's like he has alzheimer's he'll say something one month or week... Then turn a completely new leaf the next! He's prone to temper tantrums and saying the wrong/hateful things. Then forgetting he said them while insisting he never said them! Only to be proven wrong when the tape comes out ect. This is something Mc.Cain does that was noted on another thread. Though, the alzheimer's theory is mine. He may be trying to use his usually mean demeanor to hide the disease. It's not beneficial to appear you aren't all there. Or trying to 'excuse' it all as nothing because he had a bad hair day. In this case he was having a bad day at the polls so went for the disrespectful/lie approach.

Or... God love him he's just a disrespectful hateful little man. . . Like my mother used to say. Sealed

Although I am friends with republicans, this has been a very difficult election for me to discuss with them. I didn't really used to care so much who won, although I voted in my party in the primaries, but some things have enraged me to a point now where I simply can't discuss it. I really hate that feeling.

Tension is definately higher this time around... There's a lot at stake this time though.. Bush has done SO much damage and everthing is going down the toilet - I think the Obama supporters are screaming for change and.. well I don't know what the McCain supporters are screaming for.. seems to me that the ONLY reason they want McCain is because they feel he's a better 'Christian'... I don't know.

All I know is that I will be HUMILIATED if McCain wins and we show the world that we have voted for a Bush clone.

The house down the street from us has an Obama sign AND a McCain sign.  Either the homeowner has a split personality, or there is more than one voter that lives there.

Opposites attract! Their kids will be confused. Half Dem/ half GOP.... Some homes are actually split up that way.

My mother and father used to go head to head during political elections. They did not agree one bit. It was hilarious to watch them during debates. My mother would cheer as my dad muttered profanities beneath his breath. The moment he started to high five or applaud in agreement she would snort.

Tongue out It was the best and worst of times. They each actively supported the other. People thought our yard/car was very very confused! However, they raised us kids knowing we should support/believe whatever we felt was right. In my view that's a lot better than kids that grow up saying " I'm voting for ___ because I was raised ____. "

My BF and I have that same sort of situation.  We're on opposite sides and discussions can quickly get tense, but we respect each other enough that it hasn't gotten too out of hand.  Plus I refuse to watch debates with him at all, lol!  I'd much rather watch it on my own and discuss with him later because I have time to think about everything and it's easier to keep my cool.

It annoys me, though, when people give us a hard time: "How can you date one of the enemy," and other such nonsense.  Hello, we're all the same country!  We've got different ideas of how to get stuff done, but the same basic goals, really.  Is it November yet?

i personally won't be touching anyone's signs, but if i'm walking Murph, and the sign is close to the street and he feels like he needs to take a leak well...you won't see me stopping him!!

Surprised

He he he Jules, that's great. I have a female dog so no spraying of signs for me.

Good Lord!  I live in the midwest.  Very near the bible belt and I've never run into neighbors like you two have described.

What appalling behaviour!  I can tell you that is NOT the way that Lutherans, Christians or any other are supposed to act.

Dude, does anyone remember the guy a couple of years ago who shot and killed a teenager while the teenager was destroying the old guy's pumpkin on his porch? That is why I would NEVER mess with someone's stuff on their yard/car.

People get crazy possesive sometimes!

Lol, Allydan. Some people are under the impression that perfect for each other means you're exactly the same. It's a big misconception in my view.

OMG, I could never do this! I am always amazed by people that can. Political beliefs are so grounded in me, they form my belief system and I could never go home and not be able just to lay it all out for my fiance without the fear of being ridiculed. It's something I just think about ALL the time.

However, I can date people of different religions with no problem at all. O_O? To each his own, I guess! =)

-nods- It's dangerous. I did put a right to bear arms sign next to my new sign to invoke a little fear. Fear is good for some people.

I know they're not supposed to act that way but many of them do. I have come by my cynical feelings of organized religion and bible thumpers by personal experience.

I love these threads. I can keep track of McCain supporters and keep that in mind while reading replies in other threads

Honestly, I never thought I'd be able to inter-party date either, but I've realized a few things along the way:  for one, our two-party system doesn't completely make sense in that a lot of stances on the issues are only associated with one party or another because the other is against it, it seems.  My BF and I actually agree on many things, (and all the things that are important values to each of us), but we're not carbon copies of what our party "should" be.  We each just like a different approach to solving the problems our country has.  If you think about the fact that not every Republican or Democrat is exactly the same as every other person in their party, it gets easier to understand.  :-)

it is illegal - highly illegal - occasionally people get busted - they found a dumpster full of Kerry signs in greensboro after the election -- some of which had fingerprints on them... hmmm  but come on! FREE SPEECH y'all!!!!!

wouldn't you rather know what someone thinks than not know?  not so much with mccain, but sometimes, not knowing is actually dangerous (like with people in extremist groups, only they don't put handy dandy signs in their yards to identify themselves to us rational people - however sometimes they do hang a confederate flag from their front porch awning, but even that is somewhat of an ambiguous sign because they might just be real proud of great-great-great granddaddy Suginaw who died in the battle of Vicksburg)

That's one good thing about being from up north. If a neighbor hangs the confederate flag up on their porch 95% chance they've got some hate going on.
