I'm 30 now and almost there

If you are reading this Thanks for looking. I'm 30 and my 31st birthday is fast upon me. Just before I turned 30 last year I was 330lbs and not very active. I have been fit in the past but every time I get to where I want I mess it up. I've been going to the gym for the last year usually four times a week. I lost about 50lbs and I do feel better. I've gained allot of muscle mass and have found it is hard to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. I've done real good this year, but since Halloween I've been relaxed in my eating habits and have gained 20lbs. I know I can't do this on my own so I would like to have some friends I can talk to on occasion about weight loss. I've got plenty of friends and one that I work out with but if you are or have been in my position you know how hard it is to go to them about your weight. I would like to talk to people that have similar struggles. Its hard being the guy that orders the health conscience meal when everyone else can have whatever they desire. I've got 50lbs I would like to lose and any help would be greatly appreciated.

OR NOT!

Hiya know a bit how you feel, I went out with college friends (I was a mature student) for a christmas dinner last year and i was studying the menu foir ages looking for something that wouldnt push me too far over my calorie intake for the entire week not just the day. Meanwhile everyone else was just ordering what they wanted and dont even mention the deserts.

I ran into this over the weekend again. I feel I handled it well. We were to go out to dinner with some friends and, everyone wanted a Chinese buffet or pizza. That's got to be the worst choices for someone in my position. So, I suggested that we go have a steak at a local place that's not expensive. And that was fine but when I suggested it I was stated as being "The guy on the diet".  Its not like I'm a raving mad man that can't handle myself at the buffet Its just easier for me if I'm not presented to it. He's watching what he eats so everyone has to suffer. Then the other day I wasn't eating much at dinner and everyone was worried about me because I WASN'T EATING. What is it with people.

I'm avoiding buffets at the minute as i cant win with them, everything looks nice and even if you only have a tiny bit of everything it really piles up on your plate. And if you have too much people feel the need to remind you your on a diet and if you dont eat enough they complain your starving yourself, see cant win, so i'm avoiding eating out at all which isn't hard on our budget and with fussy kids who never agree on anything so one is always complaining no matter where we go.
I know what you are saying. I'm avoiding the buffet for now but I will have to go to one eventualy. I have to train myself that its not the buffet that is bad its my eating habits. I don't see myself avoiding them forever. If I make myself go and realy watch my eating in the end I will have an easier time with saying no If I have to go to one. Right now though its best I don't.
