okay, im getting annoyed. YOUR NOT FAT.
god. dont you people like food?? i starved myself and was pretty thin. then BAM. i got hungry. :/ im jealous. ahahahhaha sorry, had to get that out of my head.
But as nycgirl said you need to focus on yourself! It is your body, you are living in it. :)
i mean, i'm 5'0'' & i weight 113. but i'm like my body fat percentage is either 25 or 31 (diff sites keep telling me different things) & my bmi is 22.1. i'd like to get both of those numbers down. get in better shape. i know i'm not fat, i know i'm not skinny. but i just want to get in better shape & if i think i can, why not go for it?
and today i had a fabulous maintenance day. in which case i ate whatever the hell i wanted and stayed under 2000 calories. i exercise (i'm especially active during the summer so this is a way to jumpstart my weight loss). i don't really eat processed foods. i stay positive!
but it's difficult, i suppose. it's taken me a while of on and off dieting to get to this point where i know that i'm not obese or fat or huge. i'm happy with myself. i don't hate the fact that my thighs are huge or the fact that my boobs are tiny. i have a nice butt and when i suck in, i have a nice stomach. my collarbones and shouldes are absolutely fantastic and my arms are kinda toned. you have to take the good with the bad, and if you get too down on yourself, the results are no good!
i'm tired of these girls saying "no! no! my numbers may SEEM small but i really am huge!" no, sweetie, at 5'6 and 110lbs you are absolutely fine. now would you like one of my cookies? because i'm not allowed to eat all of them.
:) good luck to everyone.
diddo. ha ha...
people need higher self esteems!
Many of these youngsters go on to educate themselves about proper nutrition and what weight is appropriate for their age. This happens because the wonderful people here at calorie count set them straight.
So thank all you healthy young people for being role models for your peers.
When I started with CC, I wasn't at an unhealthy-high BMI. At 5'4" and 131 pounds, I was fine according to the doctor, and at a weight some people my height would think was good. But I, personally, was not comfortable with that weight or the size I wore. Now at 110-ish, I still have a BMI between 18.5 and 25, but at the low end instead of the middle. I feel much more confident and happy with my appearance now.
As long as it's done in a healthy manner and isn't done to weights that are medically too low, weight loss during one's teens isn't dangerous. And there is tons of difference between body types. My sister and mom (both out of teens, but sis just barely) are almost the same height. One weighs 110-115 and one weighs about 145. Both look great and would look less healthy at the other's size. The person one is judging might have a tiny frame and poor natural ability to gain muscle; a lower weight would be entirely appropriate for her. Teenagers also sometimes have slightly lower natural weights than adults of the same height.
Yes, we need to discourage starvation diets and encourage a positive body image. But what's a good weight and what's "too thin" varies very much by frame size, muscle structure, age, and personal taste.
And I'm tired of the "teenagers are still growing" argument. Most are. Some aren't. Three out of seven people in my immediate family (including me) were done by 13 - another Individual Variation thing, and it's up to each person and his/her doctor to determine that. Eating like a teenager instead of a young adult, even at 14, would have caused all three of us to gain significant weight without growing taller - which is exactly what happened. Applying age standards without more information is as silly as saying "Everybody at X height should be Y weight." You just don't know for each individual.
There has been some research lately about teen dieting. I'll try to dig that up for you.
dont get angry at people who want to positively influence their lives.
maybe they're smaller than you already, but if they have a healthy ideal a few pounds lower, so be it.
Just focus on yourself and your goals and don't live under the influence of anybody.

i keep reading about kids older than me...15/16 etc...that weigh less than me and think they are fat. its so discouraging. when someone thiner than you says they want to lose weight, its like..you must be a balloon! im 14, and people around my height that weigh around what i weigh think they are fat. its really bugging me. i was about 5'2" 1/2 and i was 103. i gained some weight and now im just trying to look good. but appearantly i have a looong way to go. considering everyone else thats already skinny wants to get even MORE skinny.
god. dont you people like food?? i starved myself and was pretty thin. then BAM. i got hungry. :/ im jealous. ahahahhaha sorry, had to get that out of my head.
lol its cuz you think they look normal, but they're actually sucking it in the whole time xD
But then I think, "If I want to score higher, is hating that person going to make me better?" Just concentrate on you and your goals. Set small, reachable goals and reward yourself each time you achieve one. Remember: people come in all shapes and sizes, and the weight on the scale should be less important than your actual body and your confidence.
Hehehe, I could say the same about you! ![]()
I am quite a bit older than you and 5"11, but I am trying to get back down to 200 lbs!
As others mention, weight loss is like many other things in life, you are much better off comparing yourself to just yourself. What are you now, are you happy with it, and if not, lose a little more and see how you feel.
When I was last around 200 lbs, the indicators said I was overweight, but I felt healthy, had good muscle tone, and could run 20k in under 90 mins. And yet, to be considered a "normal" weight for my height, I should apparently be 154 lbs, which aint ever gonna happen!
