If I'm awake for 30 hours is it ok to increase my calorie intake
I have to stay up for 24 to 30 hours due to an erratic work schedule Normal through out the week and 3rds on the weekend I try to stay withing 1500 calories normally but since i have been working 3rds on the weekends and im up for so long my calorie range has almost doubled between all day friday and saturday morning i ate 3000 calories i was up for double the amount of time so does that rationalize eating double the amount of calories. Im so confused about this. I work at a gym so i exercise a lot but im worried because if im not getting enough sleep on the weekends is it even gonna matter. I try to sleep as normally as i can through out the week but i don't want to mess everything up with the weekends. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
christ, I hope so.
Why are you up for 30 hours straight?
I meant to add more to that post but i was at work and in a rush.

Ironic you should post this NOW. Haha.
I honestly could have gone to bed last night. I just really felt like playing Mario Kart... then going down the hall with my friend and watching videos and playing Halo and then talking for three hours... haha! Well, I figure it this way. Last night while I was with my friend, I didn't eat any food, so it's pretty much the same thing as being asleep, ne? That means that even though I haven't gone to bed, I get to start on new calories today. That's how I see it. Now I dunno whether you ate food or not, but if you're up for 2 days, you eat for 2 days! Otherwise it's insane... and since you'd be so tired you'd crash anyway so you need the energy! Peanut butter is good.
I also work nights- 2 or 3 12 hour shifts each week, 7pm to 7 am. As a working Mom of 3, I also find I'm up sometimes for 24 hours+ so I understand where you are coming from. On those days, I feel like I eat all day, then all night also! I try to plan ahead and stay within my cals, but that doesn't happen. As I get more tired, of course I seem to crave more food, and not all of it good! I do feel that we must be burning up more cals as we are awake and active so I try not to sweat it too much. I do try to get in my daily workout and bring lots of healthy food to work (no money so I can't hit the vending machines) I know getting enough sleep is essential for weight loss, but this is just the way it goes for some of us! I have managed to lose 55 lbs so I thinkk I'm doing something right somewhere. Best wishes!
So i think i finally figured out how to get through these crazy 3rd shift weekends without over eating i eat about 600 calories less during the day and save them to eat through out the night then i work out after my shift have a little protien and go to bed.I can generally get by eating alot less during the day anyways night time is always more difficult for me so i eat a healthy 300 to 400 calorie meal before i go to work and i pack a lunch bag with a 200 to 300 calorie meal and snacks apples, string cheese, mocha dark chocolate i generally stay within 1600 to 1700 for a 24 hour period. It is definatly working i cut back to 1300-1400 during the week and 1600-1700 on the crazy 3rd shift weekends and i lost 5 pounds. Now im only a few pounds away from my goal
