Hey guys. I need guidence! lol.
I am so annoyed. I had stopped working out last year and stayed the same weight. Recently...I felt like I should start working out again. Now I have gained some muscle in my butt and thighs and I can barely fit into my size 4 American Eagle jeans. I am so aggriavted. Is there any way to LOSE MUSCLE MASS????

Maybe try incorporating some cardio to lose the fat around that muscle. I notice when I work out for the first time in a while that I seem to be getting "bigger". But if you do 30-45 mins of cardio and keep up with it 4-6 days a week or so, you'll see that "slimmer you" in no time.
Also, make sure you aren't eating more than what you are burning!

Hi kate
I was like you before. and the reason you can't fit into the jeans is yes, because muscle mass is not as yielding as fat mass. BUT you don't want to lose the muscle mass. You want to lose the FAT mass. Regaining muscle is easier than shedding the fat. and that is why weomen looked like they bulk up in the beginning phase of the workout.
I suggest doing more cardio to shed your body fat. And continue doing your weight training. Perhaps shift the ratio to 60 cardio 40 weight training? plm0187 has the right idea. at least do cardio about 5 times a week, for about 30min each time.
Dont give up now, because it is a process. If you stop you will lose the muscles and you are basically not going anywhere but accumulating more fat most likely.

nooo! muscle tone is amazing! I'm no body fat and I've lost muscle mass due to my ED as well as a bum knee (up until recently!) I'm trying to get some more muscle now. It looks so much better! :) I look sickly thin and my bones jut out everywhere! Plus... American Eagle pants tend to be very small in the butt area.... (I wear them because I am very flat in the butt area... haha I have to wear them, other brands look like I took a load in my pants sadly)
So you have no body fat, lots of muscle and you're complaining about it? It's good to have big muscles in the butt and thighs, I sure wish I had more. Smaller is NOT better, time to buy a size 6. Seriously, you don't want to look like one of those sickly dying runway models, do you? Muscle is what makes people's bodies look amazing. I remember when I was really thin, I hated it because I didn't have any muscle. Keep your body as it is.
Yeah, stop exercising. It doesn't mean you're "fat" -- it's ok to buy a bigger size. I don't think you should really stop working out ... . Same thing happened to me. You really ARE better off with more muscle.
What a shame. I think girls look good with some muscle. Oh well.....
I feel ya, Bill, I don't get it...
if you reaaaally don't want to put on more muscle, and in fact want to lose some, do only bodyweight exercise and lots of cardio as mentioned before.
I would warn you NOT to do a lot of high-impact stuff though. Try swimming, elliptical, and cycling. If you don't have a pretty fair amount of muscle on your legs to protect the joints it may not be good to run all the time.
I don't get it either, and i'm a girl... i would much rather have a j-lo booty than a flat, bony bum! I could understand if you just don't want to buy new clothes though, lol.
