Im going to chinese food tonight and..
Ive never tried it before, im a little on the picky side when it comes to food, but my dad loves and and my mom hates it so im going with him to try it. I dont know what to get, ive always heard Chinese food is really good but greasey, is that only the deep fried things? i dont really know what to order i have 500-700 calories for tonight..and i dont know what to order i would like to figure it out ahead of time to stay on track. Any advice or ideas would be sooo helpful. thanks! =)
I looove Chinese food but there is a lot of deep-fried stuff and the sodium is really high. I used to always get fried rice with tofu and veggies and gain a good 3-4 lbs the next day. These days when I go to a Chinese place I look to see if they have a "healthy options" section on their menu. Typically this involves something with steamed rice and veggies, shrimp or chicken, and low sodium sauce. Or if that's not an option, order steamed rice instead of fried (they usually give you a choice), an entree that is not breaded and fried, and ask for the sauce on the side. Like say, beef and broccoli or something with shrimp.
I hope you enjoy your meal! Chinese food is really delicious :)
Get something steamed. Don't go with fried rice. Here's a good example of what to expect as far as calories go at a Chinese restaurant (if you were to get to fattiest sort of food) http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-panda- express-orange-flavored-chicken-i63266
Hopefully it's better than Panda Express!
thats guys! i weigh myself every saturday morning, so i really dont want to go over my sodium and blow up like a balloon tomorrow morning from what i will eat tonight!
i hope i like chinese food!
Most of the fried stuffed you can find at chinese restaurants aren't really chinese. They have been americanized to fit american taste (characteristics like Mcdonales. KFC... lots of Fried stuff)
Real everyday chinese food has lots of steamed, stir fried (not much oil), roasted. Frying stuff is a horrible way to waste cooking oil. Our staple food is steamed rice (NOT fried rice) Although mostly carbs, it is much harder to be 300+ pounds eating rice and from fried food. Those considered "really obese" in China are probably 250 pounds ish.
Pretty much anything you eat is about portion control. keep to a plate and you should be fine.
If anything looks really greasy, pat dry with napkin.
