iv been on a diet for 2 + years, and lost 100+lb's.

i took a break a few months back for a vacation and to try and trick my body out of this weight loss plateau. about a month ago i started back on a strict diet, consuming approx 1200 cals a day burning 1000 cals a day through exercise alone.  i weighed myself a week and a half ago and then again today to find i gained 2 pounds!!!!! what am i doing wrong.

scientificaly speaking, i should have lost at least 3 pounds last week alone. my heart rate is always on target, (150-175) i eat clean daily excluding sundays, i have stuck to this strict regiment religiously, no cheats, no slip ups, not even a stiff drink..

SOMEONE HELLLPP!!! im so close to my goal but  so ready to call it quits, im sore tired, and hungry, but im still not getting anywhere!

this site even told me : "The secret to dieting is actually quite simple -- eat less than you burn." so ???

fat, frustrated and failing in florida :)

It's ok, probably just muscle.  Have you figured out how many calories your body needs to keep functioning?  Maybe you aren't eating enough.  Don't give up.

Your calorie deficit is WAYYYYY too big!!  You are only giving your body 200 calories to FUNCTION!   Your body is holding onto everything you put in it since it's not getting enough!  Increase your calorie intake, keep exercising, and you'll feel much better!

Seriously I was doing the same EXACT thing (ate 1200, always burned about 1000 a day, NEVER slipped up or had a cheat, nothing...) but now I know it WAS NOT healthy, and I'm fixing it too!  If you need support just let me know =)

Deflepfan16 is right.

You're not eating enough/ burning too many calories, putting your body into "starvation" mode.  In order to lose the weight, you'll need to either increase your intake or decrease your exercise, or a combination of both.

First of all, 100 lbs is AMAZING! Do you have any idea the amount you have lengthened your life???? I admire you so much, please do;t ruin it by sabatoging yourself. Loss slows down the closer you get to your goal, so if its only a lb a week that's fine. You are still an inspiration and closer than you've ever been. Be safe, and good luck.

1st and foremost thankyou so much cupid. i really appreciate that.

secoundly, i understand my intake vs burn is a bit much and im working on consuming more but shouldnt i still be losing weight?? i mean.. i gained! how is that even possible??

im so frustrated.

Iit's so simple

you lost fat but gained muscles

With that huge a deficit, your body is holding on to everything you put in it for its dear life I hope you know. You really need up your calories considerably on days where you exercise off 1000.
Well, you also have to remember that THE SCALE LIES -- it's a good article.  But beyond that -- what the others have saying is spot on -- you are not eating enough -- that deficit is way too high.  Relax and eat some -- you might be surprised at the results
