I have started a new goal for myself today - I'm going to eat GREAT sticking to the 1200 calorie range for the next 100 days.  I need a boost and a challenge.  I have been at a  plateau for months now and this challenge will help me get through it.  Anyone want to join me???

well...i can't join you cuz 1200 is just TOO little for me, but i'm rooting for you!!!
100 days, when would that be then? I'm considering joining you, just curious of the day!
As someone who went through a months long plateau... please don't reduce your calories to 1200 it will either continue the plateau or make you gain most likely.  1200 is too few calories for most people.  I had an almost 9 month plateau...yep count em 9 lol and I didn't break it til I actually started eating more.... a lot more.... and staggering my calories and getting more movement/exercise. 

Even if you dont' want to go to a gym (I never did) you can still do things to strengthen your muscles and just simply move around more.  When you jump your calories up a bit and begin to move more or change your exercise routine that will loosen the choke hold of the plateau from h***.  It was the only thing that got me out of mine.
Yeah, you may want to read up some more on breaking weight-loss plateaus before you set this kind of goal.

I'm not sure how much you weigh, but I'm almost positive that lowering your calories to 1200 per day for 100 days will not only NOT help you lose weight, you will probably gain weight.

This is not a good goal if your objective is to break out of your plateau. You're going to need to increase and zig-zag your calories, increase your lean protein intake, and increase your cardio and strength-training work-outs. Those are really the best ways to break a plateau.

day 1: 138 lbs and hm.... 1189 cals in regular meals plus all the cheescake i'll have

Here is a little more info on me!  I'm a 33 year old paramedic with 70 lbs to loose.  I have lost 65 lbs already by cutting my calories down to about 1200 a day.  I cross country ski 10km a day in the winter months 4 days a week.  That burns over 1000 cal for me, it toned me up but I ate more to compensate and didn't loose much weight.  Now that the ski season is wrapping up I have to get my eating back under control.  I work for a quiet service and most days I don't get a lot of activity at work.  So 1200 cals is about a 1000 cal daily deficit for me.

I think my "plateau" was mainly Christmas and some major muscle building from skiing.
you should try cutting back 500 for 2-3 weeks first and see what that does 1200 is to low
I just finished doing 4 weeks of a 1000 cal deficit a day - I did loose a bit - but I was skiing like a mad woman too.

so i had a tone of chocolate cake at the party last night :) like 1000 cals over 1200. is that enough for zig-zaging my calories? just kidding! personally i believe cutting back cals to 1200 is the best way to permanently lose weight. i am sooo determined to lose weight this time cause it is my lifetime dream to be slim and now is the time in my life for fulfilling my dreams!!!! my short term goal is 15lbs less but in the long run i need to shed off 28 lbs.

i'm really trying to stay below 1200 per day BUT so far didn't manage to, yesterday and today i averaged about 1500 which is my maintainence level.... hm but the good thing is i haven't binged and didn't have anything unhealthy

so how are you guys doing?

Well, I just happened to stumble on this site and decided it was a great idea.  I know cutting calories back that far may not be the healthiest thing for a girl that is 5'10" and 222 pounds, but neither is being 5'9" and 222 pounds, right?  I have just recently started counting calories.  I used to use the weight watchers points system, but found myself always trying to use as many points as I could.  After all, if a meal is only 6 points, that sounds far less intimidating than 550 calories, right?  I missed the Tuesday weigh-in, but I did come in at well under 1200 calories.  As of last night, I ate about 610 calories.  Not because I have great will power, but because I am pretty much out of food until payday LOL!

I'll take this challenge! I am also working out, so I will actually be eating more...but combining what I eat with what I burn, I want to maintain the 1200. I am going to the gym so I will be able to weigh in when I get back.
I will take this challenge because 1200 Calories IS what CC.com recommended that I eat.  I dont have a whole lot to lose, my maintenance is 1600 calories, so eating 1200 is only a 400 calorie deficit for me, so that doesnt even make me lose a pound a week, which is frustrating, but healthy, so I am sticking with it.

But actually I usually eat 1400-1500 calories and work off the 200-300 through exercise so that it comes out to 1200.   So does that count?   Am I meeting the challenge if I do it that way?
i'll do it! im finally beginning to up my calories from 900 to 1200 only recently. So this will be a TOUGH challenge for me as well. I already gained a dang pound doing it, but i'm sticking with it.. for the sake of my health :)
I weighed in at 147 today. I am going to check to see how much I will lose by June 21.
If I eat 1389 calories a day, I could be at 130 by June 21st. I am definitly in! So weigh ins are Tuesday?
Day 9 at 1200 calories! Whoo hoo!
(p.s.  I started counting from when I started at 1200 calories, which was a few days before this thread started, just in case you are wondering about the discrepancy in # of days)
