Think I'm doing everything right -- can't drop the weight!

Quote  |  Reply

Please tell me what to do.  I feel like I'm doing the right things, but can't lose any weight!!

I'm 5'4", 119 pounds, 32 yeards old.  Generally fit and toned.  I stay below 1500 calories a day.  I go to the gym 4-5 days a week.  I alternate between an intense kickboxing and toning class, and treadmill on speed/incline intervals.  I eat small amounts all day, very rarely eating anything after 8pm.

I'm trying to get to 115 or lower, but I just can't break 118!  (I recently even had a week of very low carbs and only lost 1/2 a pound.)

It is very frustrating. Please help.

Real does not sound like you are doing anything wrong. i would say that your body is changing and need some time to adjust. did you try to change the settings in CC with your new numbers and weight??

You may be at your set point.  Since you are at a healthy BMI (on the lower end of the scale), you body may want to stay there.  Why not give yourself a break, eat at maintenance, continue exercising and see how you feel in a month or 2?

I think your not eating enough for as much exercise as your doing.  Your body might think that it is starving slowing your metabloism down a little bit.  I would gradually add some more calories to your diet and see if that don't jump start your metabolism a little bit.  Try 1800 calories a day and see if that does anything for you.  just make minor adjustments to your diet and it will probaly get you to where you want to go.

Thanks for your replies.

I know my body has the potential to be smaller, since I was between 112 and 115 only 2-3 years ago. Could age be creeping in since hitting the big 3-0??? Oh my god!  Scary thought!

Another thing is, it's not that I have lost weight to get to this point, and this is where my weight loss slows down.  It's not a weight loss plataeu (sp?) I just can't lose weight any more! So frustrated.

Eating more sounds a little scary, but I guess it may work.
