Im doing the master cleanse !!
I did this in the summer and i had great results unfortunatly over the holidays ive gained 20 POUNDS! and i havent been able to loose it! , naturally im a very tiny frame and im about 5'0 tall . Im trying it again ! It requires a lot of will power i need a lot of support. Who else has done this diet and what results did you get? i stopped mine 6 days in because i was so sick of the taste!
Why would you try it again if it didn't work last time.... ? The only way to lose weight safely and sustain the loss is to change your eating & exercise habits permanently. Maintenance of a healthy weight is more challenging than losing it.
it did work , it lasted for 6 months but i binge ate for a month everyday so i gained the weight back.
If you binge ate it's because you hadn't learned how to regulate your appetite, how to choose more filling foods, how to get the right amount of exercise. You're less likely to learn these things if you delegate weight-loss to cleansing preparations, meals substitutes, appetite suppressants and so forth. Their effects are only only ever temporary. That's why this kind of fad dieting invariably results in massive regain.... sooner or later.
Edited to add... I see from your profile that you're a teenager. Be aware that people who crash, fad or yo-yo diet through their teens to lose a spare 10 or 20lbs are often the ones that hit their mid twenties genuinely 50lbs overweight and with serious problems. Would hate you to be one of those people.
CC promotes healthy and sustainable weightloss through a healthy diet, calorie control and exercise.
If you stopped previously 6 days in because of the taste then why do it again? I know it recommends 10 days minimum but if you stopped short last time, you know what you're getting into full and well so I'd question the why. From what I've read, even Beyonce discounts people doing this diet in that there are healthier ways to lose weight.
If it was 5lbs to get into "that dress" for a special function, maybe. But 20# is a solid number and if you did portion control, ate proper calories for your height/weight & activity level and exercised you could lose up to 2# a week the right way. It's only 10 weeks to lose what you want at a minimum and you'd be breaking bad habits that got you back to where you are now in the process. I know this isn't what you want to hear but I can imagine there's a lot of people that have been in your shoes as a teen that struggled as an adult (or are still) and have a lot of great tips here.
I've heard that 7 days is the minimum for a cleanse to have any real detox effect (if it exists, please let's not start that again) anyway. If you can't handle master cleanse maybe you should think about juice fasting or something. At least that way you can get fruits and veggies.
i tried master cleanse n it was the most god awful experience of my life.
i was dizzy, cudnt think straight, was beyond hunger feeling, my vision was blurry n i had headaches n i tell u wt that was only after 24hrs.
i stopped cuz i couldnt focus to drive the hr journey to work.
i honestly honestly have a total respect for anybody that can stick that thru becuase to me it was like pure torture and unfortunately it is proven that you are more than likely to gain it all bk and possibly more whether it be in a week or in a few months.
losing weight is meant to be about reeducatin yourself so that you can eat a normal balanced diet everyday throughout your life and not have to worry about a constant 'diet' as such and to constantly feel that u need to lose weight.
me personally, i would rather lose the 20lbs over 4-5months than to have even 1 day of the master cleanse.
its a personal choice but i wudnt recommend or advise it, being happy n being able to function are much much more important.
doesnt eating healthy meals and curbing your calories sound like an option for you?? xx
The master cleanse is TERRIBLE. My body was in agony. I had nausea, headaches and chills. I am a vegan and stay away from coffee and heavily caffienated drinks so I know for FACT that I was not crashing from those substances. It must have been the maple syrup glucose or maybe the cayenne on an empty stomache.
Nonetheless... terrible for the body and you WILL gain it back. Beyonce did.

That's the problem with those cleanse things. You didn't learn anything about nutrition and relied on the cleanse to save your ass. No wonder you gained the weight back. Do you really think that if you use your crutch again, that the next feeding frenzy will stop by itself? Why not just learn how to eat in a healthy manor to begin with?
People have a strange way of defining what weight loss methods "work."
In my opinion, if you gain it back within 6 months, it didn't work in the first place.

Well duh, of course if you stop eating that it will "work"...whatever your definition of working is...if you are striving to be as thin as possible, whatever the result, then it works, but that's a terrible attitude.
If you want to have a healthy body and good eating habits than doing anything but eating healthy and treating your body well will not "work". You don't need to detox to start a healthy lifestyle, your body detoxes on it's own, otherwise you'd die, and a great way to start a healthy lifestyle is to have a healthy lifestyle.
But if you want to cleanse now, go right a head...in 6 months when you've gained that weight back too, you can tell us all about how great your first 2 rounds of MC were, so great that you need to go back for a third.
I have gone on the lemon/cayenne fast for 10 days. Not for weight loss, just for detox. After day 3 it wasn't too bad, really. Except the 2nd time it was too much citrus and I broke out in bumps, so I stopped at day 4 and I haven't tried it since. It did seem to refresh me - but no more than a few days of really good food and no junk, so I don't see myself doing it again.
Unrelated note:
breakbeat - I heart happy noodle boy! :)
Let me get this straight...
six months ago you went on the Master Clense for 6 days, couldn't last the distance because it was nasty/ made you feel ill, whatever the reason. And lost 20 lbs, in six days. Fast forward six more months and u- oh you have that same weight to lose again.
Did you learn anything from this experience?
a) Master Clense tastes nasty and makes you feel sick.
b) Depriving your body of the calories it needs to function properly makes you feel ill, causes your metabolism to crash and creates more problems in the future.
c) The weight you 'lost' was mostly water (not fat) as is claimed.
d) The weight 'loss' was not permenant, because you regained it in a short time (this is called yo yo dieting).
e) your body "clenses" itself through your kidney and liver. If you poop on alternate days (or more often) you are already removing all of the "waste from your system. You do not need a "clense" to do this.
f) repeating the same procedure and expecting different (more succesful) results seems like the very definition of insanity.
g) as a teenager you NEED a decent amount of calories. Even if you are not growing "up" any more, your body is still developing in ways you cannot see. You need heathy food to do this.
h) There is an easy long term fix that works for everyone if they do it correctly.
Follow a sensible diet, with a calorie level appropriate for your AGE and current height and use an excercise program that gets you moving for a minimum of 30 minutes every single day, including weights to delelop strong, healthy, sexy muscles. This will keep your weight under control PERMENANTLY.
OMG i tried it also n i cuden't and wuden't do it again!!!
i only binge ate because it was christmas time, i visited a lot of family, i live in an italian family , so it was a lot of pasta . and i have a LOT of family . and if anyone knows what italian dinners are like ...

That's with any diet, even the most healthiest ones. If you go back to your old habits than the weight will come back.
But I personally would not recommend the MasterCleanse, it's not a lifestyle diet
Hey i hate to see people being bashed for trying something. I mean theres no real need to get as harsh as some of these posts im reading, seriously doing this is nothign against anyone personally. I know people who done and didnt like it and know people who done it and loved it. Its not for everyone. Course theres tons of toxins in our bodies, i mean we live in modern day, its hard to avoid them. I dont think theres anythign wrong in a cleanse, with the MC you get 1200 calories a day, exactly the amount i ingest now. But how and ever it's not for weight loss its to detox. You do gain everythign you lost back even if you eat healthy. but apparently you feel really cleansed and light. the people i know who done it they looked really radiant, even the ones who hated it. I dont know. I have not tried it so doesnt qualify me to state its pros and cons, and until I do try it, i'll listen to people's opinions and judge for myself whether its for me or not.
enjoy!
