I'm having an I dont care day...
Has anyone had a day like this before. Well I am sure you have but WHY do we go through this? I am not eating outrageous but I am not eating right. I could easily blame it on TOTM but I dont want to. I am making a concious decision that it is me and I have to deal with it. I have had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with loads of cheese and on hero bread and now I am going to have ice cream sundae. It might not sound bad and maybe its not but its definitely not me. I know I shouldnt have the ice cream but I want it... I just dont know...
OH YEAH. I think we've all gone through this before, it's probably because you've been eating well for a while and you want something you crave. Or maybe you're just sick of eating healthy and want to be bad. It happens to all of us, as long as it's not happening all the time, I think you're probably good. Everyone deserves a little ice cream or grilled cheese every once in a while.
Megan thank you for not making me feel bad. Reading your post gave me a sense of happiness. Well it put a smile on my face because I was saying yes to every statement you made. Its a combination of everything you said as well as I just dont feel like counting today but tomorrow I am going to get right on track. I need to or else I will lose the momentum...
Besides I don't think I reached 2000 calories so I think I am just fine...
i take every third or forth weekend off completely. no counting. i eat and drink what i want but i dont go crazy. usually takes me a few days to lose the alcohol and sodium bloat. its a sanity thing. the rest of the time i eat clean clean clean.
works for me :)
Could you give me an idea of what clean eating is. I have a party on friday and I want to try and lose the bloat from TOTM.
It is good to hear that I am not the only one who does it!
I think a lot of people have days where they need certain foods, or they need to eat more extra.
I have gone through a bad phase lately! I have over eating about 5 - 6 days out of two weeks.
What can we do hey! Just wake up and exercise and eat as best as we can.
Try to get back to normal sooner rather than later though! One or even a few “ what the heck days” are FINE! Even good for you; but it is when you leave it too long, that it becomes harder to find the motivation to get back to normal!
Trainer I didn't beat myself up yesterday although I did think about what I did and felt kind of bad. Not bad but I know that the scale would reflect what I ate and it sure did this morning but I know that its not fat but its just the mere fact that I ate like I did and the number went up. Its a crazy yo yo .
Today I plan is to eat well and not to go over board. I think if I can have a day of indulgence and then get back to normal the next day then I can feel better about myself.
I would like to learn more about this clean eating. I read about it online but I am not sure what it is exactly. What is clean food...lol
Honestly, when I dieted before and gave myself a bunch of cheat days, even a couple times a month, it was harder for me to maintain the weight, and I gained it all back.
Now, if I want something like a grilled cheese or a bean burrito (my personal favorite), I add it in to my calories. I have my usual breakfast (250 calories), and instead of a big lunch, I will have a huge plate of steamed steamed veggies, a few cubes of tofu for protein, and possibly a piece of whole wheat toast with some sugar free jelly or something like that (300 calories), and then I still have enough calories for both my delicious bean burrito (700 calories + 150 for chips with salsa), but also my nightly snack of Trader Joe's fat free popcorn (only 120 calories for 2.5 cups of it!) and some Laughing Cow cheese (usually about 250-300 calories with the bowl of popcorn and the slice of laughing cow cheese). I am always right at my target for this and I feel great all day, before and after my burrito. If I do get hungry between lunch and dinner, which I usually don't because I have a bunch of steamed broccoli (which is incredibly delicious), I will have a plum or a cup of frozen grapes or something like that.

to me, clean eating is eating as close to single ingedient foods as possible. whole foods? which does not mean i dont combine ingredients, more like when i shop, i try to buy foods with as few ingredients as possible. fish, eggs, veggies, fruits, nuts, etc. breads are the toughest but the fewer ingredients the better.
i typically drink only water, black coffee, milk and chocolate milk and an occasional beer because i do so love my beer. treats are typically medjool dates, fruit and chocolate milk. i buy as much of my protein as possible at the farmers market, exp meat. i have to get my salmon and tuna steaks at a regualr grocery store.
i pass on all the donuts at work, i dont buy junk food. i live alone, this simplifies things IMMENSELY.
my chocolate milk is whole goat milk (~3.6% fat according to the farmer), which is sweetened with ground chocolate that he buys bulk at whole foods. i count 2 ingredients there. ;)
on my off times anything goes... soda to mix with whiskey or rum, lots of beer, wine, fried foods, ice cream, cake, whatever. not like thats all i eat, i just add them in the mix if i want them. my diet stays fundamentally clean and i never seem to overdo it. it does take 3-4 days to lose the alcohol and sodium bloat as i said, but i typically exercise hard 6 days a week, alternating cardio and lifting.
i have no emotional food issues. eating to me is more a chore than anything. i really do enjoy trying to eat as clean as possible because health just feels so damn good. :)
what this has to do with a party on friday i have no clue but there it is. its a lifestyle, not an omg-i-have-to-fit-in-this-dress-by-this-date methodology.
good luck with that. :)
I thought clean eating is like a detox so that I can clear my system of what ever and lose the water weight due to TOTM. I don't want to fit into any dress anytime soon just lose the water weight for the week...
