All of the recipies I have browsed show svgs by grams and the unit converter would not convert to cups...what should I be converting too?...or bottom line, how do I determine how much is a serving?

Thanks so much!

real quick easy way is to go to google and type in however many grams equals how many cups.

example

30 grams to cups

hit search and it will bring it up for you.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Grams don't really convert to cups. Grams are a weight measurement and cups are a volume measurement.
Think about it.  A cup of rice puffs weighs about 30 grams.  A cup of water weighs 237 grams.  You can't convert volume to weight.

When you look up a food, you'll see serving measurements like one cup, but you'll also see the weight of that serving in grams.

The best solution is to get a scale.

Consider getting yourself an inexpensive food scale.  You can get one from most stores like Target or online.  It can help with postage too if needed.
Google it.
I think roughly 30g = 1 oz.  There are 8 oz in a cup.  You can't really convert the two - but that will be close.

Trainerchick, There are 8 fluid oz in 1 cup.

That's quite different than say, 8 oz of feathers (more than a cup) or 8 oz of lead pellets (less than a cup)
This may be helpful if you haven't discovered it yet. Some foods have more than one measurement unit available. Click on this example (celery):

http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/11 143.html

If you click on the down arrow under serving size, you will get a choice of cups, tablespoons, large, medium or small stalks, etc.

Not all listed foods have this, but it's helpful to know that some do.
i use this all the time to convert (i have a hard time too, not to mention lack of patience).  Hope that helps!

I leep to your defense kenziesmom.  I have never known what all these cup measurements have meant.  I'm glad you asked.
You're not dumb.  We are probably the only country (or one of very few) that doesn't use the metric system.  Assuming you live in America.
