Instead of letting someone get a certain value meal that would cost them SO much $ (Literally almost $10 for a freaking "value" meal!), I gave him exactly what he wanted (including a little more food), for only $5.
This probably makes me a bad McDonald's employee.
Do any of you even go to McDonald's anymore? You seriously can go to PF Chang's and get a HUGE meal for the same amount that they try to charge you for a freaking value meal now.
However, I am a loyal employee, so go eat at Mickey D's...
Evil in a good way. ![]()
Nasty, horrible vixen. What will this world come to if we all look out for one another?
Oh, you are just SO AWFUL! I can't beleive you did that!! Showing people the trickery of value meal prices??? How could you?
And if you do it right, you can eat fairly healthy at Mickey D's for $2. A $1 side salad, with a touch of dressing, and a $1 double cheeseburger, without the bun. Awesome.
I still think I'm completely awful. I also recommended someone get a grilled chicken snack wrap, hold the cheese (I knew a special way to do it where it takes off like 20 cents if you don't get the cheese!), and grab one of the low fat dressings that we have. And a cup of water. Drink the water, and then fill it up with low calorie lemonaide (it's like 15 calories per serving).
I'm the worst employee EVER.
I once worked in a store, where a guy came in looking for a gift for a friend. He described the person, I looked around our store, and said "you know, there's a really nice wine shop around the corner where you can get unusual bottles for not that much."
That's hardly being evil.
At Dominos pizza we are encouraged to get the customers the best deal possible 'cos it makes them go "ohh how lovely - I'll come back" so my way for being evil was not pointing out ways that they could save often quite a bit of money and just gave them exactly what they asked for. Only sometimes though. Probably if they were rude to me. ![]()
It's not being evil. I'd always rather do right for the customer than for the evil multi-national corporation who derive joy from stabbing puppies and setting kittens and small children on fire.
You shouldn't work for Mc Donalds!! They are B.A.D
heh, sometimes I'll base how much I charge people on how nice they are to me, cause some people are downright NASTY. I'll never overcharge, but if the person is being rude then they're paying full price, if they're really nice & friendly (or if they're nice and I can tell they might not have enough money) then I won't charge them for sprinkles or a topping or something. I work at an ice cream/Italian ice place.
Also, we have "frequent buyer cards" that allow you one free item once you get all 10 stamps. You're supposed to use it on the cheapest regular-sized item, but if I like the person sometimes I'll use it on the more expensive item, and if you're rude then its the smallest one. I think I have the problem of letting my mood show too much, but sometimes I just can't stand people and their freakin' attitudes.
and I don't think what you did was evil. haha I made myself sound like I do stuff like that ^ all the time but it's really not that often.

I don't want to work for McDonald's, but San Diego's job market is such crap right now. I mean the job market everywhere is bad.. but San Diego is about 45% military, 45% service jobs (travel industry, food service, etc.), and 10% higher end jobs that you have to go to a lot of schooling for. I'm in college right now studying for one of those jobs.. but my husband graduated from one of the top schools in SD and he can't find anything :( It's just rough.
I just did some online applying to Best Buy and Toys R Us. We'll see what happens. I hate online applications. They take forever and they aren't personal AT ALL.

Good luck. I worked for Maccy D's for a grand total of 4 days when I was 16. So, good for you for being able to stick it out!

Ordering off the dollar menu is frugal. But asking for a cup for water and filling it with lemonade is stealing.

I don't see an issue with it if you only fill the VERY SMALL cup up once for a little treat. Why spend an entire dollar on a big cup that you won't drink all of?
I prefer BK.
...no offense. I just prefer the grilled taste. :P

Because it's stealing. You may not be evil, but you are not an ethical employee. There is nothing wrong with suggesting different foods for people, but telling them to steal and helping them steal isn't going to land you the employee of the month plaque.
sounds like there's something wrong with the programming at your register. the components of a value meal, in the same sizes, should be less than charging for them individually.
While you aren't evil, you should probably query it with your supervisor.

Me too! BK. Or: Carls Jr./Dairy Queen/Wendys. w/e I'd pretty much rather go anywhere else. :)
I'm just not a fan of MC D's food either, too greasy/cheap for me. There's nothing sold there that I deem delicious. I haven't ordered anything from there in years.
I used to love the happy meals and the play place as a kid though...

It's stealing.
Better advice: Order water and drink it. Or: Bring your own reusable bottle of water.
It's 0 calories. :)

They usually aren't. I recently went to Wendy's and got a burger and drink. It came to just a few cents less than the value meal which included fries. I purposely ordered this way to avoid the fries.
