I'm freakin' starving!

Quote  |  Reply

So I am about 19 weeks pregnant, and I have gained 10 pounds total, but 5 of those came in the last 3 weeks! I cannot stop eating. I am literally starving all the time. I don't want to gain too much wait as I started at 185, but I can't sit around with my stomach growling! Any suggestions?

Make sure you get a ton of protein at least 80grams a day and lots of water.  Often dehydration will get confused for hunger.

I was super hungry during the first half of my pregnancy as well. I ate a ton of protein (over 100 grams a day) and that seemed to help a little. I always tried to eat protein with fiber and lots of water because that's the most filling combination for me. For example, my breakfast consisted of oats (or Fiber One) with honey and a splash of soy milk and egg beaters with feta cheese. Snacks were light cheese and whole grain crackers or whole wheat toast with peanut butter. I literally drank (and still do) hundreds of ounces of water daily.

You're a week shy of being halfway through your pregnancy. Ten pounds at this point is great! Even if you gain a pound a week for the remainder of your pregnancy, you'll still only be at 30 pounds gained which is perfectly normal. Just try not to give into your cravings all the time and fill the void with quality food.
