I'm really full but I'm craving an apple .should I eat one? today I had --

homemade chicken noddle soup but the water part only (no chicken or noodle)
my own egg drop soup (1 egg, 1 scallion, 3 mushrooms)
cabbage soup with lots of cabbage
appx 4 oz. tilapia (in the cabbage soup)
2 red apples
2 green apples
3 medium sized strawberries
2 branches of celeries
about 5 small bits of baking chocolate

I know I had a lot of apples today and I think I'm full from
eating a lot of cabbage for dinner but I really want another apple b/c I'm always used to having 2-3 apples a day and I ran out of apples last week so I really missed them.
I also didn't exercise today but do you think I can have one and not get fat?

"do you think I can have one and not get fat?"

I hope this is a joke.

But if it isn't: yes, you can have an apple, and no, it will not make you fat.

Now, as for your menu: it looks very unbalanced and unhealthy. All I see is fruits and vegetables and chocolate - how long have you been doing this?

You know, there is nothing wrong with apples. But I think the truth is you are hungry - and you are craving an apple because you can eat that guilt-free.

Please try to eat some chicken and noodle along with the water. And have some bread and/or potatoes, rice, pasta, milk, too. Improper nutrition is the shortest way to cravings and binging. And binging on apples has the unpleasant consequence of bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation. (I am speaking from experience.)
Hi there Genx,

Yes, eat the apple.  Also, please use the handy calorie counter to make sure that you get at least 1200 calories a day.  If you don't eat at least that (dependant on your height - use the tools here to determine that) your body could go into starvation mode, holding on to every calorie and causing other issues that have grave consequences.

From what you said you have eaten, I suspect you are far below what you should be eating.
Gen. Yes. You can eat normal amounts of food and "not get fat." What you've eaten today is not enough. It's NOT a normal amount of food. You aren't getting the nutrients you need. If you just eat fruits and vegetables and soup, you will not be healthy. Eat a piece of chicken and a few handfuls of nuts and maaaaybe you'll be okay for the day. But if you can't bring yourself to do that, eat the apple because at least you'll get a little closer to what you need to SURVIVE.

You need to talk to somebody. You are not eating enough, and I know this is a routine for you because I've seen a TON of your posts and they're always the same. "Getting fat" takes a fair amount of time of overeating, which means eating MORE than your body burns for a significant length of time. And if you're paranoid of getting fat even though you're consistently eating less than your body needs to SURVIVE, then you are well en route to an eating disorder, if you're not already there.

You really need help. But I know you won't listen to me so I should probably just shut up now.
ok well thanks everyone.. but I think I am eating enough to maintain
I am 5'7" 118 lbs and if I dont eat like this I wont be able to maintain and I tend to gain if I eat more... I'm trying to calculate the calories but its hard cuz the soup is all home made and I only eat parts of it
I knew you wouldn't listen to me. I hope you eventually do figure it out before it's too late.
5'7 and 118lbs????

I hope you know it is very dangerous. You can die of it. Yes, you can.

Please get help from a doctor.
You are probably craving something that is in the Apple.  I would make sure you are craving it after 15 mins and then try it.

By now, I am sure you have already either eaten it or decided not to, but that's the rule in general.
lol yeah I decided not to its too late I'll have a bunch first thing tomorrow morning
The reason you gain if you eat more is because your body WANTS to weigh more. If that wasn't the case you'd likely remain 118 without much effort. If that is all you've eaten today, of course you can/should eat the apple ... or if you're full just wait a little while.

Why not put some chicken and veggies in that "chicken soup"? It would still be very healthy. I imagine you're doing some sort of crash diet here -- all that soup and all those apples and then the celery and cabbage. You ought to have a bit more variety (if you don't).
i remember a girl asking in a different site if toothpaste had any calories in it...cuz if so....she was gonna stop brushing her teeth with it and just use water.  some of these posts remind me of that.

=/
An apple will not make you fat.  Even if you're eating 5 apples a day, you're eating FAR below what you should be eating, especially if you want to gain weight.

Hello all - let's please keep the conversation within the posting guidelines, and please be respectful of each other.  Thanks!
gen, you are at the very baseline for BMI -- 18.5.

You are obviously forcing yourself to be that low in weight, because you are not eating a nutritious diet.

If you want to ruin your health, that's your business, but don't expect anyone who has any sense at all to condone it.

I posted on the bmi thread all the health risks associated with being too low in weight.  You are a prime candidate for those health risks.

If you don't believe us that your diet is sorely lacking in nutrition -- take the challenge.  Go to nutritiondata.com and put in the above menu, and see what score you get.  I expect that you will be deficient in several vitamins and minerals.

You have only one body -- you'd best start taking care of it before it's too late.
I'm sorry pandajenn if I said anything wrong, but I don't think it's right that someone like gen who's made a million posts like this should just be tolerated. Something needs to happen, because these posts are not constructive and it's obvious from them that she has a problem that she's not willing to face. I feel like if we're not at least a little harsh then she won't learn anything, because so far she hasn't! All I want to do is help her, and she won't listen to the voices of reason. I honestly don't even understand why she is allowed to post at all anymore because she doesn't listen to the people who answer her!
lanicita ~ soooo understand what you are saying... and it's like that in life always... you see someone about to hurt themself (like a child about to touch a hot stove) and we want to stop them.  And a child with the hot stove, we need to hop in and keep them from doing that.  But here, we don't have that power.  Unfortunately.  All we have are our powers of persuasion and our voice.

We can yell, hop up and down, all we want until we are blue in the face, and people may not listen.  We can't force their ears open (or in this case their eyeballs) and simply pour the information in and bingo... they are all of a sudden better.... Unfortunately.

That leaves us with respectfully discussing alternatives and giving our own point of view.

Really, that's about all we can do.  And it's our best hope for getting through....

We may never see when the person will finally get it.  It may not be here and it may be a year from now, longer than that... maybe never...

:::sigh:::

anyway, yes, understand completely...

now... here's the *but*...  but, we still need to respect other people's rights to post, ask questions and discuss ideas...

sometimes, when frustrated, i try to remember to step away and let someone else reply...  sometimes my tongue bleeds, indeed...
Okay I understand what everyone is saying, and I'm sorry but as the writer of this post who apparently initiated all this I must say something about this.

"I'm sorry pandajenn if I said anything wrong, but I don't think it's right that someone like gen who's made a million posts like this should just be tolerated."

OK I don't even want to know what you said that apparently has been erased, but excuse me? a million posts? I haven't been on this site for like 6 months until today and what? what do you mean this shouldn't be tolerated, like this is not a free country?...

Something needs to happen, because these posts are not constructive and it's obvious from them that she has a problem that she's not willing to face.

Generalizing everything based on 2 posts above huh?

I feel like if we're not at least a little harsh then she won't learn anything, because so far she hasn't! All I want to do is help her, and she won't listen to the voices of reason.

How do you know that? you wanna help me? If you wanted to help me you shouldnt have stated, "I know you wouldnt listen blah blah I should shut up" in your first post, which indicates that you already "assumed" that I wouldn't listen to anything (which is of course not true) and that you already gave up on helping me.

I honestly don't even understand why she is allowed to post at all anymore because she doesn't listen to the people who answer her!

generalizing everything again. How exactly do you know if I'm listening or not?
In fact I have, and yes I am very well aware of the fact that my weight is unhealthy and I have a doctor whom I discuss this problem with and I'm making progress, thank you.  I posted this b/c I was worried if eating too many apples would harm me in any way, but now I read my post again, I admit it was my fault to list my food intake, height and weight. I didn't know that would lead to such harsh unexpected generalization from some stranger saying that I shouldn't be allowed to post anymore.
Gen, I've been on this site for a year now and I've seen your old posts too. I distinctly remember trying to help you then too. I'm sorry though, I didn't know you started to see someone about it. I'm glad you did, that's a great step to getting over your obstacles. I wish you the best of luck.
gennx01 ~ when i was a kidlet, we visited a family apple orchard on a cool fall morning day ~ the apples were cold and crisp, absolutely delicious!  I ate a bunch!!!  Maybe 6, 8, a dozen?  I don't remember quite how many, it was a long time ago.

I do remember having the worst belly cramps and diahrea later that night... all night...  because an overload of fruit can do that to you!  Better idea is to eat a variety of foods from a variety of the food groups to get a wider range of nutrition to help you be healthy.

the fact is:  no food goes straight to fat on your body.  To gain weight, you must over-eat more calories than you burn...  and it does not matter where the calories come from (for weight loss or weight gain purposes.  it does matter for other health reasons).

for your age and height, you can probably do a lot more eating than you are.

hope this helps...

"if you reall want it, have it"   ?????

If you're full, stop eating. theres a reason why we get full, so you stop.

as for your diet....you need to see a nutritionist. eat more fat and protein! Fat does not make you fat! eating when youre full or not hungry will!
