I'm 17 years old, almost 18 and i'd say i look about 13. I weigh around 6 stone if not less and i am 5"2. I look in the mirror and i think im disgusting, i'm more or less just skin and bone. i've been like this my whole life, i'm a size 6 but my goal is to be a perfect 8 or maybe even a 10.
I can eat ALOT, but im the most fussiest eater ever. i don't like anything with cheese in it, so that rules out alot of food, i also don't like 'mushy' things, if you all understand..like pies that have gravy,or spag bol or things that are just really soft on the tongue. I eat basic crap everyday, lots and lots of junk food, i normally have lunch and i always have dinner.
I hate the comments i get, i just feel completely disgusting, but i dont understand how i can put weight on, it's like it's never going to happen.
I hate myself. Can anyone help?
Sweetheart, don't give up. I am 5'2 1/2 and 106 lbs. (Not sure what that is in stones). I was like you at your age. Boys would not pay me any attention because I looked so young and also looked like a boy. I was very straight and narrow. Now that I'm 47 I truly appreciate it. I love my petite frame and work hard to keep it this way. I just had my 30th high school reunion last month and believe me, I faired so much better than those curvey voluptous girls that I was so envious of. For some reason those same "boys" paid me a lot more attention than they did in high school. I'll tell you what I tell my own 5'2 daughter. As you get older, you will find that most men prefer us petite girls to the tall ones that look them in the eye.
But i look anorexic, i know that i'm not but when everyone around me thinks it, and you see that look of disgust in their eyes..i just want to be a bit bigger
Do you like to cook at all? If you take it up as a sort of hobby, you might be able to create some better meals for yourself. There's thousands of cookbooks and online recipes out there. Do you have a "food channel" on tv where you live?
Javagen3 is right, cooking for yourself gives you a whole new understanding and appreciation for food! You can really change your outlook just by trying a few simple, healthy recipies. Don't like mushy things? Try roasting vegetables, which gives some of them nice crunchy edges.
And I would recommend some light exercise as well: cardio (4 to 5x per week) and strength training (2x per week). Once your muscle tones up, you'll look a lot healthier and people will stop giving you those accusing looks.
Good luck, and don't give up!
How much do you weigh? 5' 2 and wearing a size 6 does not sound too skinny. I'm 5'2 and wear a size 0 and I definitely don't think I'm too skinny. I am on the thin side, but skinny implies unhealthy.
I agree with erinread and Javagen3. Weight training will increase your appetite and you'll want to eat more. Stay away from cardio for right now. cut out caffein drinks as they decrease your appetite. I've recently started cooking myself and found it can be quite fun. I love to see how healthy and tasty I can make a meal. Gourmet pizzas have become my favorite to make. You might also want to try some weight gaining shakes. They taste really good!
I assume she wears a British 6 which is like an American 0. And 6 stones= 84 lbs.
Everybodies got a little fussiness about food, you just gotta work with what you like to eat. If you don't like mushy foods thats okay, what non-mushy foods do you like? Make it into a healthy meal, and don't feel bad about eating it on a regular basis because if you like it, you won't mind it. For example, I love pasta, and I eat some kind of pasta almost everyday and I don't get sick of it. Right now you've got a lemon and only seeing the lemon, you gotta start making some lemonade! ![]()
Eat healthy and don't worry about your size. If you are really naturally that small and eating enough and healthily, then that may be the right size for you.
I have a neice who is definitely NOT anorexic (or bulemic) she eats well and healthy and she weighs 98 pounds at 4'11". She has 3 lovely daughters (13, 12 and 5) and she looks like she's about 15 years old and wears her older 2 daughter's clothes. She will always look young. She is healthy and happy. She is also fairly strong for her size.
If you really want to put on some weight make sure you're eating calorie dense foods like nuts. And add a little olive oil to your veggies or salads. Nice crusty french bread dipped in olive oil with garlic is mighty tasty... and packed with calories.
Sounds like you want to eat right and be healthy and are asking all the right questions. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? What advice does he or she offer? Would getting a professional nutritonists advice be an option to you?
I know it's easier said than done, but you can't let what other (ignorant) people think or say govern how you feel about yourself. Maybe spend a little more time and focus on the the parts of you that you do like. Again, I realize that is is easier said than done, especially at 17, almost 18, but give it a shot.
Hey Girl, just a thought... There are protien shakes, etc., that may help subsidize your caloric intake. Made with milk, or even ice cream, they taste awesome and are easy to get down. Weight training is also a fantastic way to put on some size and would provide the opportunity to get out and talk to people who understand what you are going through. Don't settle for information from individuals who lack knowledge about your situation, and don't rely on your own impression of yourself because it's never even close to what other people think!!! Formost, be good to yourself. Take care of your body and it will take care of you--stay healthy! :-)
Try not to worry about other people and what they think. I know that is easier said than done. It is probably mostly females giving you those looks and thinking stuff. All girls suffer from other females comments and looks on one thing or another, weather it is weight or a body feature. Have just a few good true friends who know and accept the way you are and enjoy spending time with them. A friend is nice to have to eat healthy & exersice together it makes it funner to do things with friends. Forget boys right now. They are just a pain any ways at your age. You will fill out a little more in the next few years naturally and the boys will come.
Last, Eat as healthy as you can and don't do anything extreme with eating in order to gain weight.
thank you everyone..today for the first time in like forever i had breakfast lunch and dinner! am so proud..am going to buy myself some scales so i can really monitor my weight..its going to be breakfast lunch and dinner from now on =D i liked that saying you've got a lemon and only seeing the lemon, you gotta start making some lemonade! i feel a bit more positive now..
hopefully things can now start changing..x
Do very thin models get their periods?
Models menstruate if their body type is naturally thin, but if their small size is due to an eating disorder, then they lose their periods just like anyone... Read more
