Im...im...so happy *sniffs* Penut butter heaven
Well, today my powdered penut butter came! If anyone missed the penut butter lovers thread from before... there is apparently a powdered penut butter where most the fat has been squeezed out (making it a LOT less calories).
I dont really order things from the internet...but decided it would be worth it if it really was what they said (i have been avoiding penut butter like the plague for a longgg time because of the huge calories).
Anyway, this stuff really is just like penut butter! It tastes just as nutty and creamy (even more creamy with more water added).
Calories? 54 calories for 2 tablespoons of powder!!!
Another nice suprise was the high protein content! 4.3g per serving (2 tablespoons)... thats not shabby (i have been eating a lot of bread, so protein is good). *total is 2.8g fat, 94mg sodium, 3.7g carbs, 4.3g protein*
Just wanted to give an update on it (for those that saw the thread before). I think me and this stuff will have a long and happy future together ><

wow really? Where did u buy that at???
powered peanut butter...hmmmm sometimes food manufactures give
me a headache. How do they come up with stuff like that. Its not
natural. Sugar stick to the real thang. It is healthy, remember peanuts
grow in the ground, they are natural and can be made into natural peanut
butter.
Rethink the power stuff.
Huggers
I got it from www.bellplantation.com (from what i understand from the last thread, they are the only ones that make it). They took a few days to register the order, and then a couple more days for shipping...so not that bad.
While it was coming, i was thinking about how good it really would be...if it would capture the penut-ness of penutbutter without the calories.
Then i thought "sure!". Penut oil doesnt have a penut taste (people use it to fry with)...all the flavor is in the protein (also the part where those that are allergic to it is). Then i was thinking about what the oil really added to penut butter...and couldnt really think of much (other then not drying out as easy).
When i finally got it, i was sooo right. They got all the nutty-ness (i licked the powder plain and it was goood, then mixed up some spread).... its even more handy that you can mix it with anything (i think i need to try penutbutter french toast heh).

I was thinking about the not natural thing too (my sister was saying that too). But if you think about it...pressing it so the oil comes out is no different then olive oil. All the flavors in the protein...all the fats in the oil...so why not just press out the part you want? (in penut butters case, thats the flavor!)
So is this just a powder? Do you add water to it and then spread it?
I am very interested. I will see if I can find the other thread....

Yup, its just the powder (they add sugar and salt to it too, thats where the higher carbs and sodium come from that i listed above, but still doesnt seem that bad).
You can add water...or orange juice...or anything (i want to try baking with it, sooo many penut butter things i have been avoiding for too long).
Im just happy that i can eat penut butter again without having to try and justify the 200 calories per 2 tablespoons ...heh... thats more then pure sugar has ...

loriklorik, thank you for touching on this again. This is exactly the kind of feed back I'm looking for.
I'm off to order my own.......

oh wow sounds amazing... im really tempted to buy.... has anyone else tried it???
I want me some. Anyone know how they go on international orders (Australia) Anyone in aus want to split a pack?
I get the whole, its unnatural thing, but the PB i eat has added rubbish to it anyway. I dont see the harm in taking bits out. I might do a bit more research, but i dirnk powedered skim milk, so theorhetically this should be great.
I keep thinking about a nutty satay that WONT make me guilty. And PB and banana milkshakes/smoothies that dont cost me a meal in calories. :D:D

I been thinking ...
Penut soup (onion and chicken!)...
Penut butter icecream (hmm still hard to do with the cream)
Penut butter cookies and cakes (should be able to cut a lot of calories out, maybe with raisins!)
Frozen PB and banana pops (freeze PB over a banana! ...maybe cut them into bite-sized frozen bites first, like individual chocolates...only penutbutter!)
PB french toast (and PB pancakes)
PB/banana/apple cobbler (crust made with PB too)
Chicken with PB sauce
PB salad dressing
Orange PB with fruit (PB mixed in with orange juice)
PB pops (maybe with fruit juice, then frozen in molds)
Chocolate PB spread (a little more sugar and powdered cocoa)
PB hot drink (mm, i wonder how this would be...like hot chocolate...only penutbutter instead!! mu ha ha)
PB oatmeal? (hmm, wonder how this would go too, mix it into cooked oatmeal!)
PB truffles (mix it with creamcheese and then roll lightly in powder sugar, or powder PB, or powder cocoa...with a lower calorie creamcheese, shouldnt be bad)
Hmm...thats all i can think of now.... oh! maybe sprinkle it on top of cereal!

just an aside - the only thing added is salt, no sugar added. and it is very very good. i did make some peanut butter cookies with it and they turned out quite well. i originally saw this advertised on www.hungrygirl.com. the fat is reduced by 75% from regular peanut butter.
edit: there actually IS sugar in it. sorry.

redherring, those sound good. A PB satay or milkshake. Mmmmm.
This sounds really good! I too am a PB-aholic. I've been avoiding it too. I haven't even touched the White Chocolate Peanut Butter my sister got me before she realized I was trying to avoid it.
I'm going to look into this.

Okay, this weekend I will need to order it. It would by yummy in my protein shakes or protein bars.
Can you add water to it to make a peanutbutter sandwich?
Can you add water to it to make a peanutbutter sandwich?
bill - absolutely, you can make a pb and j sandwich. it mixes up with water and the texture is almost indescernible from full fat pb. i actually add just a touch less water than suggested b/c i'm accustomed to natural pb. i mix it up in a small glass bowl for when i have apple and pb. it is very yummy - it really really tastes like peanut butter.
How big is the jar? I don't see where it says package size.
each jar contains 6.5 ounces (184 grams) which provides 16 2-tablespoon-sized servings. also, i just double checked the jar and i stand corrected: it DOES contain sugar....peanuts, sugar, and salt.
Hey i went ot the site. They have PB powedered and the same stuff (PB2) called sugar free. Which did you get? Sugar one then... I wonder how they differ with taste. DO you find the sugar one sweet?
You mean the penut flour? and penut butter powder? Im not sure whats in the penut flour, so cant really say... but the penut butter powder (pb2) isnt too sweet. Its like roasted penutbutter (just was looking around the site again and under the product they have reviews, seems lots of people that ordered are really happy with it).
The sugar in each serving is 1g (a serving is 12g), doesnt seem to be too much.
