Im...im...so happy *sniffs* Penut butter heaven

Quote  |  Reply
Well, today my powdered penut butter came! If anyone missed the penut butter lovers thread from before... there is apparently a powdered penut butter where most the fat has been squeezed out (making it a LOT less calories).

I dont really order things from the internet...but decided it would be worth it if it really was what they said (i have been avoiding penut butter like the plague for a longgg time because of the huge calories).

Anyway, this stuff really is just like penut butter! It tastes just as nutty and creamy (even more creamy with more water added).

Calories? 54 calories for 2 tablespoons of powder!!!

Another nice suprise was the high protein content! 4.3g per serving (2 tablespoons)... thats not shabby (i have been eating a lot of bread, so protein is good). *total is 2.8g fat, 94mg sodium, 3.7g carbs, 4.3g protein*

Just wanted to give an update on it (for those that saw the thread before). I think me and this stuff will have a long and happy future together ><

I am a huge peanut buter fan so much so that I gave it up for Lent and have bought 3 jars of Smuckers all natural to start in after Lent.  I also try to avoid sugar so was wondering about the sugar free powder-has anyone tried that one?
Mmmmmmm, peanut butter! I had regular peanutbutter today. 2 tablespoons on celery. I'm trying to eat more calories to meet my daily calorie intake thats suggested by this site. I don't know about powder, I don't like to try new things. Is it still thick when you mix it with water like the regular stuff? I'm thinking about getting the peanutbutter from the health food store, It has to a little better than the regular stuff.
was i the one that originally mentioned this?  We have jars of this stuff at my house too and I know I mentioned it. Good stuff huh? Love them nuts lol.
sarah - I think it's only a powder b/c they take out so much fat. When you are ready to eat it, you mix 2 tablespoons with 1 tablespoon of water, in a cup etc. It has the consistency of regular creamy peanut butter. I'm thinking I might put a little splenda in with mine b/c there's very little sugar in it. It's basically peanuts and a little salt. I was very skeptical, but it doesn't taste much different to me.
Woah this sounds great but the postage overseas would be about $50!!!!

I don't think I can afford that, even for peanut butter!!!
yumyum i bought some and cant wait to get it.. im a peanut butter addict...: )
Lorilorik---- let me know if you bake peanut butter cookies with it and how they turn out... I'm waiting for mine to come right now to satisfy my PB craving! haha thanks for letting us know about this!
As soon as I saw this post, I ordered some and can't wait for it to get here.  Thanks for the link loriklorik!
For the life of me, I cannot understand why big food manufacturers feel the need to put sugar and salt in peanut butter (not to mention the unnecessary revolting chemicals in most).  I think most of America has no idea what peanut butter ACTUALLY tastes like.  It's good.  Try it.  Once your tastebuds adjust to not being bombarded with sugar, you won't even be able to eat the processed stuff.  It literally makes me nauseous now.

And for anyone looking to reduce fat (and likely cals) from their natural stuff, just buy a jar and instead of mixing the oil back in when you open it, pour it off into the sink.  If the PB is too runny and starts pouring out WITH the oil, put it in the fridge for a few hours so it can all harden up - then you can scoop the oil off the top with a spoon.  The PB remains spreadable, even from the fridge, and pouring off the oil has to make a difference in the nutritional value.  Not sure how much because there's no way to log it or anything, but it has to help.  I do this with every jar I buy.  Just finished a PB&J for lunch as a matter of fact :)
Star, are you talking about the natural peanut butter from the health food stores? If you have some, can you tell me how many calories there are in it? Carbs?
I <3 PB2!
I'm skeptical.  I don't buy it. You can't just take the fat out of nuts..maybe it's because when prepared, the powder only equals out to 2 teaspoons..that I would believe.
idk if powdered pb would really come out the same, but i suppose in milkshakes or on icecream itd prolly rock....anyway, i found this other reduced fat pb that takes out a lot of calories/fat but seems to do it more naturally....and not powdered....idk i havent tried it yet but i thought id post the site for anyone who wants it:

I tried the Better'n'Peanutbutter and *yuck* didn't like it at all; however, everybody's taste is different.

I've never heard of the powdered pb hmmmm.
well thats dissappointing...o well ue sera sera....we'll all just have to use the normal stuff sparingly....hmm or i could attempt to create a recipe for some sort of peanut butter spread thats similar....im thinking adding some soy flour/water to increase protein and replace some of the fat....hopefully i can come up with a healthy alternative...cuz sure some fat (especially unsaturated) is good for u, but poor pb is so potent with it that its disappointing when u really want an obnoxious large amount and really shouldnt have one lol....okay well if i come up with some amazing recipe ill let everyone know
I'm so geeked.  My PB2 came in on Saturday (I just ordered las Wed or Thur) and it's every bit as good as they say.  It smells and tastes just like any other peanut butter.

This morning I made a smoothie with P2B, 8th Continent Light Chocolate Soymilk & a banana.  Yummmm!
totally agree with you jscris91.

ilisa - I was skeptical too, but they press out the oil. That's why it has to come powdered. It comes out to a little over 2 tablespoons once you mix it with water for a total cal count of 54. It's wonderful folks!!!

It's not exactly the same as normal PB, but it's a darned good replacement!
Thanks for posting this LORIK ~ I read the original string, tagged it and then forgot about it! I need to get some of this too.....we LOVE PB but not all the calories that go along with it....

And your list of stuff you can use it for....I can't wait! I'd also like to hear how your cookies come out....

jschris ~ that sounds just like something I'd make for breakfast! YUM!
Sarah - yeah, the PB I'm referring to is the stuff that just has "peanuts" or "peanuts and salt" as the only ingredients.  You can get this stuff at regular grocery stores now too, but I get the Whole Foods house brand because it's actually cheaper than buying Smuckers natural or whatever.  All of it's pretty much the same though fat and calorie-wise.  Not accounting for the poured-off oil, it still has 100 cals and I think like 16g fat per tablespoon.  PB has such a bad rap though - it's actually a massively healthy food.  It's just calorie and nutritionally-dense, in the same way that all nuts and olive oil are.  It's the PBs that are processed and have added sugars and transfats that are going to be bad for you.  At that point the sugar/transfats pretty much cancel out any nutritional benefits you might have going for you.  PB really doesn't need sugar.  It tastes SO much better without it.  Especially when paired in a PB&J, the nutty flavor of the peanuts with the sweet of the jelly is great.
I find that mixing the powdered penut butter with sugar free jam is really really good. Also mixing it with fruit juice can make some great things (i mixed it with some mango juice and it made a killer penut dip with a light mango flavor).

Mixing it with normal water makes it even to normal penut butter (in terms of taste)....mixing it with different types of liquid really sets it ahead.
