I'm not joking about this- implant question....
Okay, this is a slightly embarrassing question to ask but I think it needs answering. When I started this sight I had gained 13 lbs. This put me at 135. My goal is 122 (which I had previously been at and felt FANTASTIC!!). Since that time I have been working harder than I did before and I can't seem to get that scale down. Here's the kicker- I had breast implants and I wonder if they could possibly weigh a couple/few pounds. I am by no means Dolly Parton. It was 350cc's on one side 320 on the other. Could that make me weigh more? By how much? I appreciate any helpful answers but please don't crack jokes.
Current stats: 5'4 CW 128 GW 122
670 cc's= 22 fl oz = just under 1.5 lbs
edited to add: if you had the surgery recently, you will probably still be swollen and such which can add more weight. but, 13 lbs should show in your pants size-- if your pants are tight or you had to go up a size it is probably mostly "real" weight, if your same pants fit fine or just a little snug, id wager on swelling/boob job weight.
Yeah, I was thinking somewhere in that range. Thanks for the help. I have to get back on the treadmill now!!
As someone who has breast impants, I was shocked and some what afraid when I first stepped on the scale after surgery. Depends on how recent your surgery was (I had mine in April of 2007), it could be from all of the medication and swelling. For about three weeks after surgery I was about 7 pounds heavier than the day I weighed myself pre surgery.
My implants are 450cc and 420cc, my surgeon told me they would each weight about 2 pounds.
It was and still is really discouraging for me to step on the scale and see that my weight has gone up, but I realize between 3-4 pounds are from my implants.
Hope this helps!
I wonder if maybe the density of the solution is higher than water. Cupcake's implants are 870 cc= 29 oz. So if they were pure water, they would be almost 2 lbs total. If they are 2 lbs a peice the densit has to be twice that of water....
Cupcake, are yours part or mostly silicone? Hope, that might be the answer for you... hers are 200 cc's more than yours, if 450 cc is 2 lbs, then yours should weigh about 2.5 lbs which is pretty close to your weight difference plus swelling.
Ooh now I am intrigued LOL.
found this on the web:
1. How much weight will I gain with my breast implants?
You will probably gain a couple of pounds, depending on how large your breast implants are. You can ask your breast augmentation surgeon how much your implants weigh and he or she will probably be able to tell you.
Saline, which is salt water, weighs between 1.3 and 1.6 grams per milliliter (a milliliter is equal to a cubic centimeter or cc). There are approximately 453 ml of water in a pound of water and the average implant volume chosen by most women is 450 cc. Therefore, a 450-cc saline-filled breast implant weighs about 1.3 pound, not counting the weight of the shell, which is maybe an ounce or two. So two implants weigh about 2.6

Drea, I must say that I am very impressed with your dilligence!
thecupcake- Soooooo glad I'm not the only one with this issue!!
I know I'm not crazy (well, not about this) I had them done in March so swelling shouldn't be an issue anymore. But, really, I cannot get that scale down. I suppose it would make a little more sense if they were about 2lbs. But wait... that still leaves me with 4 unaccounted for pounds! Hmmm, perhaps I won some free butt implants too! Hey thanks for your help ladies!
I think that surgery can be such trauma to the body that you can end up holding onto water weight too... I had my wisdom's out and I held water for what seemed like forever. I have been seriously contemplating getting implants now for years, and I really appreciate this blog actually. I think I will probably gain about 10lbs after bc of the way my body reacts to surgery + the weight of my new friends.
Congrat's on your surgery btw. Question: how long did it take before you saw the results you wanted? I hear that they are "boxy" looking for a couple of months afterwards... also how badly was the pain after? Did you immediately go back to work? I am a B right now, looking to be a full C or small D and I would want to take off 2 weeks from work, think that's enough time?
Thanks!
Interesting post...I have questioned that too...
I had the "girls" done June 2007 and was quite swollen with water weight and such afterwards...then the fact that you have to hold off on exercise for a few months doesn't make you feel any better! But yes, they do add a few small lbs that I wouldn't count on losing ;)
Keep working towards your goals and stay active!

You might want to read this article before you do.
Thanks for the article floggingsully! That is fantastic news!! I HATE running but I do love the challenge of strength training! Very helpful!!
Littlemalynda- I saw the results I wanted right away (2 weeks-when they take the bandages off). I had lots of extra skin (sorry) from having a child and weight loss. This is also why it wasnt all that painful. If you don't have that problem, you could be in a little more pain, I suppose.I took a week out of work and needed it! They tell you it's okay to go back in 3 days but I needed to rest! The pain really was from the pressure on your chest/lungs. It was a little hard to breathe and my upper back was sore. The only reason they are boxy after is bc you have to leave them wrapped tightly for a while. That goes away quickly! Anyaway, I had a great experience with my surgery and would do it again tomorrow. I don't really think 2 weeks off is necessary, 1 should suffice. Good luck!!!!
Thanks Hope,
I haven't had kids but I think I could get a small implant without much pain (I lost a lot of weight and at one point I did have small D's so the skin has been there before...) Appreciate the advice from someone who has gone through it :)
I just had a tummy tuck and breast lift with implants 5 days ago. I weighed about 144 the morning of surgery and now weigh about 150. I am assuming that at least 2 pounds of it is from the implants and the rest is from swelling. I am normally a pretty active person, I run almost daily and lift weights just as often. I also have 2 toddlers which keeps me active even when I am not in the gym. I am guessing it will be a while before I can resume my normal exercise routine and that I wont really be able to lose the non implant weight until I can go back to my routine. I made the mistake of thinking I was fine due to pain medication and probably have overdone it the last couple of days and now I am suffering from more pain than I had in the last couple days, I am also backing off the pain meds so as to not become reliant on them. Is there any advise that people may have as to how long before my breasts dont feel like they were beaten by a bat and how long it will be before I can straighten up comfortably?
