I'm kind of sorry I came back to CC

I just found out that pg was threatened with extinction. They just tried to do the same to lorik.

I hate the thought that CC is become a conservative hangout by default. Those of us with liberal attitudes tend not to complain about the posters who nonetheless irritate with their narrow mindedness. Yet the posters of homophobic drivel and others who can't tolerate criticism seem to be complaining by the bucketload.

Liberal attitudes don't generally lend to tattle tales. Conservative attitudes lend more towards tattling because they get more offended more often.

Yeah it's all changed you got to watch all your P & Q's now not just some of them and whatever you do don't disagree with anyone they will cut you down with venom, slice you with the edge of their tongue and then report you for being offensive.

It's not all that bad. PG overreacted I think, they were asking for more of toning down of how she was posting (not really what she was posting). Asking to cool it on insults and cussing isn't a big problem.

The mods need to keep peace on the forums, they don't care what we say or talk about as long as it doesn't get dirty or try to hurt eachother (so people aren't afraid of the place).

They were mainly upset at me about the 9/11 thread, but agreed that was just a misunderstanding. No harm, people got upset and hit the report button...mods just needed to look into it.

The thing about the human race is that about 75% of it is touchy and takes everything personally.  Sure, in theory you can speak your opinion.. but in reality, you always get in some sort of trouble for it, especially if it's different than others'.

I'm a very liberal person and I live in San Diego, which has a huge military population (I support the military, but not the war) and a lot of residents here are conservatives.  I am always pretty watchful of what I say in front of others here.  Sometimes I just don't care and say my opinion.. and people get offended.  However, I don't want to get sued, so I end up shutting my mouth.

The best way to get your opinion out is to either blog or talk to friends who you know aren't going to feel offended by anything you may say.  It's sad, but it's true. 

I've been bothered by some things that people have said online, and I have no doubt that I myself have bothered others.  I guess that some people just have that breaking point where they end up reporting you and trying to change your actions.  The only opinions that I dislike are the ones that are downright disrespectful to people who are dead or something like that.  I love to argue, though.. so most opinions, especially opposing ones intrigue me.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to stay or go. Personally, I usually avoid going into The Lounge.  From some of the things I've read, the conservatives tend to be more tolerant of the liberals than vice versa.  Just MY opinion, of course.  Both conservatives AND liberals need to be respectful of each other's opinions.

 I think PG had more posts deleted than I do (I don't get deleted...only time is when we go off on a tangent somewhere and the OP complains to get a bunch of posts removed to get the thread back on track or something...another thing that is so annoying, people crying when "their" threads get off topic)

I don't know why she was reported, but both she and Lorik can get a bit harsh.  Unlike conversations with people we know, we really know nothing about who is going to read our threads and don't realize how much our words can hurt someone with just the wrong background.

If people were getting reported just for having liberal views, the Lounge would be a wasteland by now.

I moan about my threads going off topic because they never seem to be on topic, however i do that moaning in the thread i don't report it or ask for stuff to be removed.

I'm just gonna try to stay away from the Lounge.

I used to never even look at the lounge, but this past summer I read the Lounge like everyday. I'm trying to get out of that habit, and just use this site for weightloss and fitness.

And yeah about that...I don't think mooni was referring to liberal/conservative politics...I think she meant liberal/conservative attitudes. I'm a Republican () and I don't think it's the Republicans who necessarily report violations, I think it's those who have conservative attitudes. I have plenty of Democrat friends who act far more conservative than I do (when it comes to attitudes toward life in general). Liberal does not necessarily = Democrat, and vice versa.

Tbf the lounge was(is) pretty much made up of liberal pov. I don't know if these folks post here or not, but peaches, neko, myself, sim and sully are probably the most conservative people here and we're not all conservatives in the sense that it's normally used.

The only other time you saw a conservative pov is when someone posted a baiting thread about politics, religion or some other polarized topic in order to draw wackos out of the woodwork for lulz. And tbf, those people aren't conservatives, they're just crazy. It's no better than baiting the militant vegans and portraying them as representative of normal vegans.

 Why just let the nuts speak for you then? :P Why not speak up also and present a rational calm explanation of what you believe (and then engage in a dialogue questioning them)?

Even if i was in the most conservative place in the world, I would still speak up and present my ideas... (as long as there was no danger of them attacking me haha).

+1. I'd also like to point out that I'm on team Lorik in most arguments, I just never have the cajones to join in and support, because some people are so oversensitive. I tried once, and got eaten alive :)
