Hopefully my butt won't need too much kicking; you'd need a pretty long leg to hit it from California.

I'm actually a gym bunny however, I got a new treadmill at Christmas time so i'm using it A LOT.  Also I've been hanging outside walking with my furkid since the nice weather is finally here. 

My newest love is jogging.  I never thought i'd be able to jog and I"m getting better and better at it.  Gotta love those endorphins!

I dream about running - literally. Just being able to run and run without getting tired. Then I wake up with cramp in my leg! Honest.

I'm intending to just keep it steady. A 40 min walk daily

I've lost 175 pounds, so I can completely relate and probably have been through every high and low that you will through during this journey.

Starting: 294+

Ending: 120 (5'5 female)

I just wanted to say, you can count on me to get back to you ASAP if you PM me with any frustrations or need motivation, or heck.. just someone to talk to.

You CAN do this for your health :) And once you hit a point of maintaining your weight, you feel even more empowered. :) It feels SO good to be free from my old body, and I can't wait until you can brag success right along with me.

 LOL My beagle is my furkid.  Her name is actually Haley!  I like her more than most ppl i know.....and she's much smarter too! LOL ha ha

I went swimming yesterday and to my disappointment, i'm not impressed with the amount of calories I burned.  i just couldnt seem to get my heart rate up so I guess i'll stick to what works for me.  I'll add swimming as much as possible to just mix it up a bit. 

Do you have a heart rate monitor?  if you dont, i'd say that it's a GREAT investment if you are really needing to drop some lbs.  Other than that, my vegetable steamer has been a GOD SEND!

This is a great place to be and find others doing just the same thing as you.  You'll definitely lose weight if you are going to aim to lose it over time in a healthy way.  It's just such a change in how to eat.  I started only a little over a month ago and am down 10 lbs, so I'm right under your current weight.  But use this site to your advantage as much as possible, get into some forums (like the one Korali mentioned), and add friends to help when you are getting frustrated!  I know having friends on here who started out with that much to lose totally helps to relate.

hey matt i started out at 367 down to 311 i was 304 at one point but gained 20 lb during the school year. im looking to drop another 100lbs. i need some support as well moving home form university only made things harder my family loves to eat the worst food, and loves to offer it to me. fell free to add me as a friend or msg me for anything , gluck ... congrats on the weight loss haley

Hey Matt,

     I started at 377 in December and I am already down 310 as of Friday.  I have done very little working out and I have averaged 2300 calories a day.  I strongly suggest skipping the exercise and starting by eating 2500 calories a day.  Let all the work that you have done to get this big help you loose weight.  You burn more calories when you are big just by living so ride that wave for 6 months while you learn more about nutrition and keep your self from burning out.  I just joined a boxing gym on Friday and I am going to work out once a week and lower my calories to 2200 per day starting in July.  I have steadily lost the weight doing this and at some point I will have to be hard core and go down to 1800-2000 calories per day with 3 days per week working out but At this point I am taking my time since I still burn on average 3300 calories a day even sitting at a desk all day.  That will not last forever but it sure makes the super long journey a lot easier to start.
