I'm looking for a weight loss friend

Quote  |  Reply
Looking to chat with others who have at least 50lbs to loose. I'm a 25 year old mother from Canada. My goal is to loose 70lbs by May 1st (I just got a gym membership so I'm hoping that helps). I don't have many overweight friends (even though I'm at least 70lbs overweight). I'd love to share advice and experiences with new ppl. Hope to hear from some of you :)

Hi Where in Canada? i live in Calgary, Alberta and am trying to get healthy to have another baby. i was abusing my body by binging and puirging so this is day two of eating breakfast, l;unch adn dinner but i would love to be your weight loss buddy.

Amy:)

Hello chubbygirl!  Welcome to our cheery motivation forum!  You might find it a bit slow here for the next 2-3 days or so, since many Americans are celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday weekend -- but by Monday or so you should have more posts. (You might need to keep an eye on it, and post again in this same thread so it raises up to the top of the list!)

By the way, good for you for getting a gym membership!!!

Have you determined what sort of eating plan you want to follow? How many calories? (Just curious!)

=^..^= MOLLY

What do you want us to call you?  chubby girl or something else?  I need to lose 60 pounds and am about 20 years older then u!  I think 25 is the prefect age to get fit.  You are still young enough and the metabolism works pretty good still!  I have struggled this time getting the weight off.  Mainly because I don't do it for more then 2 weeks at a time.  Putting my mind to it isn't enough this time round.  Thus, I am struggling.  Well, now that I am reading my boo hoo story you may want a different buddy!  LOL  Good luck

I'd love to be your buddy!  Message me!

Hey Girl congrats on starting a path towards a healthy future! I am a 26 year old mother from Minnesota and i have more than 50 lbs to loose. I've been overweight pretty much all my life and the past few years i've been working on getting healthy, I've read books and magazines taken a few kinds if diet pills and now im trying too use my pc to help me. Right before i got pregers i lost thirty pounds in like 4 months and that felt great. Then i gained forty during my pregnancy and its been 2 years now and im only down ten pounds. I've been going to the gym during my lunch breaks from work and i eat a little lunch during a short break and then a little snack later in the day of course i always eat breakfast and usually a sensable dinner. Excercising and eating small meals have really been giving me alot of energy the past month or so. Its alright to mess up every once in awhile but as long as you get back on track its nothing to worry about.Going to the gym is not only a workout its a good way to get away from stress and just do something for yourself for a little while. good luck

Hi CG,

I'm starting today and could use a few friends myself.  This is another weight loss attempt and I'm looking for a boost to help me make it work this time.  I'm trying some new motivation tools (I even started a weight-loss blog.)  I'm calling this journey "operation anti-matter."

Send me an email operationantimatter@gmail.com if you wanna be buddies.   (Invitation extended to all!)  I'm feeling good about this time around.

Anybody wanna share about their previous weight loss attempts and what got in the way?  You know, pitfalls, etc?

For me, it's being really gungho at the outset than running out of steam.  That's how it always happens for me.  I'm gonna move beyond that this time...slow and steady wins the race.

Any other trial and error stories?

It would be great to have some diet buddies.  I am 28 and a mother of two.  I have 60 lbs to lose after losing 16 lbs so far.  I also just recently joined a gym too.  I've dieted many times before but this is the first time I have counted calories and it is going great so far.  I am addicted to CC and log in all the time.  I'm not looking for a diet, I'm looking to make lasting lifestyle changes that I can continue for the rest of my life.  I believe I have found that here at CC.  Being able to give into my cravings as long as I limit portions and count calories has really helped me to keep motivated.  It would be great to have people to talk to who are going through the same things because most of the people around me are at a healthy weight and those who aren't don't care.  I've only been doing this a couple weeks so I would love to build up a support group!

I would love to be support over the net.  I live in Florida and want to lose 70 by June 1st.  This site has really helped me to understand things, I mean truly understand how food affects the body, both positive and negative.

 here's to dropping unwanted things

Hey CG I'm 25  have about 40 pounds to lose, I promised myself i wouldn't be 25 and overweight so im trying to motivate myself to work out more and eat better.  I live in Canada as well, and its getting soooooo cold its making me not want to work out :( Most of my friends are skinnie minnies as i like to call them, but they are supportive. Anytime you want to msg me and chat i'm around. Hope things are working out :D

HI ladies,

Im looking to lose about 40lbs by June... I am 25 and have a 3yr old daughter and have been trying to lose the weight forever it seems. I would love to have a support group that motivates each week. Should we possibly do a weigh in every week? I find that motivates me to keep track.. I have hard time measuring the foods and how has everyone been handling that... any help would be greatly appreciated.. I am determined to lose the weight and get healthy! Good luck and happy Monday!

-Allison

Hey Allison that sounds good to me.  A weigh in would help keep me accountable each week.  Plus I love the Biggest Loser.  I have been measuring my food with measuring cups.  I usually weigh myself on Saturday mornings.  Would that be a good weigh in day for everyone?

Saturday Weigh in's would be fine... that way if you gained you would be less likley to cheat all weekend. However, when I was on weight watchers (another failed attempt) they always wanted us to weigh in on Wed, something about the middle of the week. Im open to any suggestions. Speaking of weighing in, I weighed myself this morning and I was up a pound since yesterday and 2 since Sunday. Im eating less!  How discouraging!

I want in on this weigh in thing!! I'm also a 25 year old Canadian girl (with 50 lbs to lose). I think it would be so much easier to have someone to be accountable to.

I remember when I lost 60 pounds two years ago, i'd only weigh myself once a week because i was becoming obessive. i'd way myself everyday and if i'd go up a pound or down a pound i'd freak out. So I did it every sunday morning. I also allowed for the time of the month. I remember once i was up four pounds and i flipped out. weighed myself the week after my time of the month and presto i was down the four and down another two. So i really didn't go by the scale, i just watched what i ate and worked out.

I am working again to get the thirty off i put on, but i don't seem to be as motivated.  Coming on here really helps. So i'm going to start weighing myself every sunday as it makes me accountable for my health.

Hope everyone's day went well and they are still reaching their goals. CG how's everything going, any progress?

Hi everyone!

Well from what I've read on this thread so far, many ladies here seem to be the age of 25 and wanting to lose anywhere from 40-60 lbs, which is great because I fall into that category as well.  I'm 25, newly married, and I am currently working to lose 35-40 lbs, more if possible.  My goal is to get back down to the weight I was before I started dating my husband, which is around 140lbs.  I would love to make friends here and offer advice and/or encouragement.  Plus, having weigh-ins/accountability would probably benefit me as well.  Hope everyone is doing great  on their weight loss goals so far!  :)

Updates on how everyone is doing? it's a bit quiet in here.

Sorry I've been busy with work.  I have been doing pretty good food wise though.  I eat something every 2-3 hrs and I really think it helps to put my metabolism into overdrive.  The only thing that bothers me is I've been getting B+ ratings most of the time.  I'm a bit of an overachiever so I have a hard time not getting As.  I will weigh in tomorrow morning at the gym I'm hoping to have lost another 4 lbs but I'm not sure if I will.  I'll check in tomorrow with my update.  I hope everyone else is doing good!!
