I'm not morbidly obese anymore!

Quote  |  Reply

I just checked by BMI and as of today, it's just 39.2, whereas above 39.9 is morbidly obese.  I am just obese now.  I know it doesn't seem like much, but I've lost 30 pounds and I'm going strong!  I have 50 more to lose before I'm at a remotely comfortable weight, and another 25 after that until I'm at my goal weight :)

Good for you!!! Keep it up!Smile

Congratulations!!  Feels good, doesn't it!

Not much? are you kidding me? I bet you feel excellent right now knowing you are no longer morbidly obese. Anything you do for yourself that makes you better in some way should be considered a huge thing in your life.

I remember when I lost 35 pounds to get from obese to overweight. It was the happiest day of my life. People were like so what you are still overweight. I'm like yeah sure I am but what I had to do to get where I am now is an accomplishment that I did for myself and it makes me feel excellent.

It's a huge thing in life and you should be proud. ( I know you are cause you made a thread about it.)

I wish you lost of luck on your journey and hope you all the best as you get that BMI under 29 and then you can shout to the world that you are no longer obese but just overweight.

Yay you!  I just went from severly overweight to moderately overweight, and that made me do a happy dance (that burned 3.6 calories? lol)!  You may say that it's not a big deal but I bet you're awful pleased with yourself right about now :)  Obese sounds and feels so much better than morbidly obese (probably because morbid is such a terrible word).

Congrats!

30 pounds is quite a success, the rest will come off too, just give it time.

That's fabulous, Kate!  What a wonderful accomplishment!

Thanks everyone!  I'm so happy! :)

Congrats!  That's great!  You've made a terrific accomplishment!  I remember how happy I was when I went from obese to overweight and I'll bet that's how you feel now!  Yay you!!!!

**Grabs Kate by the hands and dances her around the room**

It's not a minor accomplishment, you lost thirty pounds and you're well on your way to losing more.

You're right to make a thread and have people congratulate you.
Congratulations!

 ditto

this is awesome

That's a big deal!  I remember doing a serious happy dance when I went from being obese to being overweight.  You need a celebration.  Go get yourself some cute new clothes or something.  :o)

My mom is taking me shopping at Nordstrom in the women's department (NOT PLUS SIZE!!!!!!!!!!!) and not Lane Bryant :)  I'm now a size 16ish, some 14's fit me as well as some 18's and an XL on the shirt :)  I am so happy and excited to get some clothes that actually fit now.. everything is too big on me and the only stuff I've been wearing is really old stuff from high school that actually fits!

double post, my bad:)

Oh, you're right around my size!  I'm a 12-14, and a L, usually--and speaking of happy dances, wait till you don't have an X on your clothing size--best day ever!

Oh I know, I can't wait!  I never thought I'd be back to 250.  I remember being like 230 and being a size 12 and a size L/XL sometimes when I was about 16.  And I remember being 150 when I was 15 =/  I can't wait to get back down closer to that size!

For my treat today I had 4 pickles (lol- I usually only limit myself to one a day if that because of all the sodium but they're my favorite food!) and then I went for a nice long walk on the San Diego River.. I think it was a good way to treat myself for all my success!  Just hope I'm not too bloated in the morning from all my sodium today.

thats amazing!

keep up the awesome work =] you'll be at your goal in no time.

Kate, I'm really inspired by your example. Thank for sharing this great win with us! I'm close to breaking through obese to overweight- 7 lbs to go. Reading stories like yours keeps me motivated.

Great work! Celebrate each step. I've found mini-goals inspiring. It's too hard to look at a huge number. Set goals and keep on going. Good luck!

Sweet!  This is a huge accomplishment!  You are an inspiration to the rest of us.  Smile

Thanks everyone :)  I'm so pleased with my weight loss!  Everyone keep up the good work!  We CAN do this!  And we are!!!!!
