Wonder bread used to make an awesome low cal bun (80 cals), and now I can't find them anywhere. I'm not sure if they stopped making them or what, but I need to find an alternative low calorie bun for my veggie burgers.

Any news out there? I was thinking of just using a tortilla or some bread, but a bun is really what I'm wanting.

I put veggie burgers on english muffins instead of buns.  Thomas' makes multigrain light ones that are only 100 calories.  Definitely need to be toasted, though.

I do this exact same thing!

Here in the Midwest we are able to get a low calorie whole wheat bun from a company called Village Hearth.  We just love them.  They are 100 calories.

Here's a link to their web site.

They have a map of their coverage area.

Good Luck.

Nature's Own makes some great wheat buns, both hot dog and hamburger. The burger buns are 80 and 110 calories. They have different varieties, the 80 are double fiber and the 110 are sugar free. Here is a link:

I second the nature's own.  They are packed with fiber and only 80 calories.
I use thomas' mini pitas - 70 calories each.
I use either Country kitchen Light Wheat buns (80 cals), Martins Light whole grain potato buns (80 cals), or Jospehs mini pitas (45 cals).

I don't know if they have them in your area but I usually get mine at Price Chopper, Hannaford, Or Wal-Mart.
Healthy Life makes a whole-grain or white bun for only 80 calories and .5 grams of fat. Less than one gram is pretty good for a burger bun!
Sauteed Portobello caps.  MMMM!

Broil them for about 10 minutes (5 on one side 5 on the other) with just a touch of oil and basalmic vinegar.

They have 1/4 of the RDA of B12, good if you are a veggietarian and lacking in that vitamin, and only 25 calories each "bun."

They have a kind of bready, meaty texture and flavor.

Con:  It can get expensive.
I'll have to keep my eye out for the Natures Own buns. I believe we have that brand in AZ. I swear these stores need to get healthier on me.

Am I the only one who saw the topic headling & thought the post was going to be about butts?

Anyway, I love these: http://www.foodforlife.com/procart_catalog/in dex.cfm?ProductID=36&do=detail

They freeze like a dream! I keep them in the freezer with my veggie burgers.

I just bought some Franz  100% Whole Weat Bread. 40 cal a slice. I know its not a bun, but its interesting that they have this on the package, Do NOT Place in the Microwave and Do NOT Place in the Freezer.  Now I'm wondering what will happen when you do that.Laughing

My grocer told me Wonder might be headed into Bankruptcy which is why those buns are MIA. I can't find 'em either right now...

Oh yea, and I am in AZ too... best place I have found them is FRYS signature stores. 101 and Shea in Scottsdale is one.
