Im never full :(
This is my first post x
After I eat meals i never get full and im always craving food. Its really getting me down as I used to eat what ever I wanted whenever i wanted. I really like junk food and desert food like chocolate and cake and i hate vegetables. Ive been on a diet for 2 months now and my weight keeps jumping all over the place and i get upset when it goes up, making me want to comfort eat. I chew on chewie and that makes me forget about my cravings sometimes but i keep getting upset and crying about it. I have ate vegtables near enough everyday for the whole 2 months and they really arnt satisfing me.
Its also annoying because noone will support me. They all say that i dont need to lose weight but i know i do. They dont see my belly everyday. They keep giving me lectures about loosing to much weight but that annoys me even more because i cant even loose a little bit of weight when i try my hardest.
Sorry for the rant, i needed to get it out. x
what are your stats? maybe they are right and you might not need to lose weight but focus on fitness instead? how many calories are you eating? that might explain your hunger. we need more information!
I have the exact same problem! I can eat sooooo much, yet I never actually get that full feeling. I try to just create a portion and just stop eating after I finish it. I hope you will get the answer you are looking for though! Good luck!
If you're eating refined carbohydrates, that will spike your blood sugar and definitely make you hungry all the time. So basically if you're eating any white bread, pasta, SUGAR (stay away from that like the plague!) or pretty much anything refined, there's a good chance that could be the problem. To stay full, try eating more healthy fat - avocado, olive or coconut oil, nuts. Eat slow, listen to your body. If you're eating fake "fat free" or "low fat" crap, toss it. Eat the real thing and that will help balance you out as well. If you have any carbohydrate, balance it with a protein. Let me know if that helps or if you'd like more specifics/recipe ideas.

I dont know what stats are sorry. I think I should focus on my fitness but i really cant motivate myself, and i have no where to do it. Im am 15 so i live with my parents but i dont have a personal space to go and excercise, i would go in my bedroom but i dont have one, family problems. And i hate the local gym, and i would have to walk home on my own but i live in a scruffy town and i daren't walk on my own. As for calories, Im not sure, yesterday was about 1500, and that was 3 meals and a treat.

Its the most annoying thing isnt it. My mam thinks im only imagining that im hungary because im dieting so i cant have too much, but its not. I am trying to just have a drink when i get hungry because sometimes people mix up thirst for hungar, but that never seems to work either. Its very frustrating. And thanks :)

I eat white bread every week day in my school lunch and pasta some nights for tea, but that depends on what mam is making because she has to cook for the whole family. I try to eat slowly because apparently it takes 20 mins until you start to feel full but I just end up getting bored and eating quicker. If you could tell me some filling meal suggestions that would be really appreciated.
Thank you all for relpying so quickly.

in the context of CC, stats are height, weight, calories, workout regimen. 1500 is probably not enough for you which is why you're never full. try eating more whole grains and getting healthy fats and protein in EVERY meal!!
I would def reccomend giving up the white bread for lunch! Replace it with Ezekiel brand sprouted whole grain bread. (Or 100% whole wheat but I love that brand and the sprouted grains are better for you.) Ezekiel also has little pitas which I love. Some lunches that would be good for school:
-pita pocket stuffed with lettuce, vegetables, tomato, avocado, and a protein (chicken, turkey, beef)
-small handful of nuts w/ toasted pita bread and hummus
-large salad with vegetables, grilled chicken, hardboiled eggs, avocado, nitrate free sodium reduced bacon (my favorite dressings are just simple olive oil and balsamic vinegar, or olive oil and dijon mustard. as long as you keep the dressing to a small amount, it should be fine but a dressing with the least ingredients is best, and should have NO high fructose corn syrup, sugar, fake ingredients that make it low fat or fat free. Go for the most natural dressing possible. One of my favorite blogs, Elanas Pantry, has a recipe for an asian salad dressing which I haven't tried yet, but would be very healthy! The key of course is moderation... which is the key with everything!)
-all natural almond butter or peanut butter (or whatever nut butter!) sandwich with small (or half) banana (again, make sure the ingredients are either just peanuts, or peanuts and salt)
If you're out, I am a huge fan of Chipotle. They have humanely raised meat so I feel good about that, and I think it is a very healthy choice if you get the right thing. My last meal was:
burrito bowl: no rice, SMALL amount of black (or pinto) beans, any meat (but I really like the carnitas and steak) mild tomato salsa, and guacomole. Stay away from the rice, tortillas, and corn.
Okay so I didn't include any dairy, and that's because I don't eat it. I don't like how it's produced, and my body doens't really agree with it anyways. But that is totally your decision, and cheese is delicious. So my advice for that is to get full fat cheese, not the fake nasty Kraft stuff, and just use small amounts. For a sandwich, just use half a slice. If that Chiptole sounds good to you, get a small sprinkling of it. Full fat tastes better, is much better for you, and will fill you up. You can also experiment making pizzas with those pita pockets by putting some tomato sauce (no added sugar! read the label) and cheese and veggies. Bake it in the oven for 10 min or so at 400.
Filling dinners:
Get to love fish! I don't know if you do, I know I wasn't a huge fan (or didn't think I was) when I was in high school, but it really is delicious. My favorites:
WILD CAUGHT salmon (not farm raised)
shrimp
tilapia
wild caught tuna steaks
I put olive oil, salt, and pepper on them and usually grill them, or baking the salmon for 15 min at 350 is good too.
-if getting wild caught seafood is too expensive, either just get a small portion, or go to seafoodwatch.com and find the next best alternative
When you eat beef, try to get grass fed. Try to get pastured or free range chicken. It's expensive and hard, but try to get the closest to that or what you think would be healthiest. Pretty much any combo of a healthy oil, protein, and vegetables can make a great healthy, filling, delicious meal.
Dinner vegetables:
I LOVE asparagus and brussels sprouts, two vegetables I used to despise. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper, and roast at 425 for 15-17 for asparagus, 21-23 for brussels sprouts
I'm a huge fan of pumpkin and cinnamon nuked in the microwave
Any vegetable is really great but those are my regulars
If your fam is having pasta, ask for 100% whole wheat or ezekiel pasta (watch out though you can't overcook it) If you absolutely must have white pasta, have just a tiny bit and have a ton of vegetables with it. I am kind of indifferent about the ezekiel pasta - it def doesn't taste like normal pasta, it doesnt taste bad, but it's not my favorite either.
Some of my favorite snacks:
-Handful of goji berries, raw nuts, and cacao nibs (okay so this may seem like crazy psycho health food, but the goji berries are a "superfood" and the cacao nibs are raw chocolate that fill you up, and are a great mood stabelizer. Let me know if you are interested in that cause I know some good websites for raw food.)
-Nuts duh!
-Fruit (but balance it with a protein like nuts, hardboiled egg, etc)
-Larabars (if you are still eating a lot of refined sugar these won't taste too amazing, but once you've reset your tastebuds, they are a fantastic treat once in a while) They are around 200 cals though, so try and remind yourself they are supposed to be filling
-Piece of cinnamon raisen ezekiel bread (if i haven't already had a ton of carbs that day.. remember two slices of bread on a sandwich is kind of considered overkill)
-Slice of cheese (if you like/eat dairy!)
So I hope all that rambling was helpful. If you want more ideas or just any questions, let me know. I know I kind of sounded like an ezekiel spokeswoman there but I really like their stuff it's the only brand of grains that I eat! But of course there are other healthy brands, the point is just to not have the refined white flour or sugar.
As for the eating slowly thing, I know it's hard. I kind of just try and tell myself that I'm getting full and that seems to work. Not snacking when cooking helps, drinking water (but not just chugging it because I "have to") not eating until I sit down, and just getting in the habit of not finishing everything. You'd be surprised how full you'll get if you just eat slowly (not at a snails pace or anything!), pause, tell yourself how full you're getting, and just keep reminding yourself there is always another meal.
Wow thanks, that is a lot of information! I will try some of these things, but I dont like fish, sorry, but thanks for writing it. Last time I had fish I was sick and ive just been put off ever since, but I will have to try it again sometime, even though the smell puts me straight off lol.
The problem with the bread is that Im staying with my grand parents and I just use their bread and i would feel very awkward asking them to get a different bread just for me
So if I eat fruit, what should I balance it with if I dont like nuts or eggs? (sorry, im a really fussy eater, I know)
I love cheese but I never eat it because apparently its really fatty, I could have a slice every now and again though, thanks for the idea, I started to forget it existed.
And im just about to have my tea so im going to take my time and think that it is filling me and hope it works.
And this is a bit random but if i make a homemade cake then do you know how many calories it would have? i think it would be a good treat since i will know exactally what is in it
Thanks again!
Oh man you need to branch out girl! Haha I totally understand your dilemma with the bread. I guess what you could try is just having one slice on your sandwich instead, or not finishing your sandwich. I hate to be a downer about the bread but the white bread can really be a problem! But I guess it's not the end of the world.
You don't like nuts?!?!?! Are you sure? Try different nuts - pecans, hazelnuts, cashews, almonds, macadamia and try and avoid peanuts. Unless you just seriously don't like them... haha I love them! Or try them in a nut butter. A small handful will really help fill you up!
You might also just think you don't like eggs... try mixing them with something or cooking them different ways. I really like a fried egg over a piece of toast, scramble them, make an omelette with different vegetables, or try and make egg salad. A little sea salt goes a long way.. can really liven up eggs. I've heard grapeseed oil veganaisse is a good sub for mayo, or use real mayo, but either way just a little and use the real stuff.
If you just can't eat eggs or nuts, (or even try sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds) any protein will do, it just may not compliment the fruit as nuts would, so it would kind of just be a weird combo but oh well! So like a chicken sausage, turkey, meat, any protein.
Yes, cheese has a lot of fat in it, but try not to be afraid of fat. A slice of cheese is NOT bad for you especially if it is real cheese. Moderation is key.. seriously don't buy into the whole don't eat fat thing. But if you don't eat it (like I don't) then it's fine too, it's not like you need cheese haha.
Making homemade cake is much better since you will know everything in it! I really have no idea how many calories you're looking at since I don't know what types of ingredients you would be using and how much of each. Try and use whole wheat flour if you're using flour though! And tryyy to minimize the sugar or use a natural sugar if you can. If you feel weird about asking your grandparents to get if it they don't have it then I guess just try and keep your portion small!
PS.. I love tea too!
Let me know if this helps and how you're doing! :)
I think I should try nuts because I like crunchy nut cornflakes and I think ive just got it into my head that I dont like them, I have no idea why lol
Same with the eggs, ive only tryed scrambled egg and it was absalutally gross! I daren't try any more, but fried eggs do look nice (if that is the flat white one with the yellow blob in the middle) so I think i will try one for breakfast when I go on holiday :)
And I eat fruit for lunch so the meat in my sandwich will balance it out
I dont know how to make cake so i will just have to experiment with ingredeants and see how it goes
Thank you for all the info & ideas, you are awsome :D
you may want to try some excercise .. I am looking into Interval training http://www.intervaltraining.net Its new to me and kind of makes sense.. read the website and see what you think.
It looks alot more interesting than regular excersice and takes a lot less time, Maybe somebody here has had some experience and can share results .. I am starting my routines tomorrow and will see what happens:)..
You have to excercise when you are looking at loosing weight
interval training is also quite intense so you need to make sure your body is up to it and that you are eating the right foods and getting the right amount of calories, you may need to increase your calories if you start interval training which sounds strange but after you read up on it you will see why.
Do a search in the fitness forum for interval training .. there are alot of good advice there
Good luck with your eating and excercise :)
To get away from all the junk food it helped me a lot to buy lots of wonderful ripe fruit! I have it all around me in my rooms and there is a plate and a knife on every table, so I can eat whenever I feel hungry. And every time I think "I want chocolate" I eat some fruit FIRST and then I eat a little bit chocolate. I'm so much used to eat fruit now when I'm hungry, that I really prefer it to the other stuff. But don't forget to eat some chocolate afterwards if you want. Just in case you don't really want fruit first, it helps you to know that you can get a bite of chocolate AFTER the apple.
try eating slowly...after eating for around 15-30 minutes, depends on every person..the mind thinks you are already full nomatter how much or how less you ate..
and fruits also make you full faster than other foods..
i have gone through this diet and i have changed both physically and psychologically..
http://mastercleanse.me
also dont forget to dring 8 glasses of water a day .. this will help make you feel full
Today I looked in the fridge to get my lunch and :o :o :o, there was lots of cakes! They were all different shapes, sizes and colours. There was a big cake then a tray full of little cakes. I nearly cryed, they were so tempting but I just ignored them and thought about them allday at school. I suppose I feel a bit better that i didn't touch them. Just thought I would share that lol.
I really should try to excercise regularly. Apparently hula hooping is really good excercise so I bought a hula hoop, and discovered that I am hopeless at it. I just really cant do it, but i could still feel the excercise just trying so Ill have to keep trying that. I think I will start regularly trying every night on monday.
I know what you mean with the fruit, I did that one weekend with fruit but without the chocolate. And when I weighed myself on monday I had put on 2lbs! I was so shocked, I didnt dare try that again.
Its really hard to eat slowly but I will try to make it a habit
And yea, ill have to make a habit of drinking more water
Thank you all
I decided to give up alcohol, I love to have a few drinks with friends when I go out, but I know that alcohol is no good to try and loose weight, so last night I went to a club and just drank water until 4am until we went home, and I felt real good .. so its similar situation you have with the cakes in the fridge, all you need to think to yourself is NO .. think of your goal (remember it wont come overnight, my goal is May 2010) then close the fridge door and walk away, and I gaurantee you will feel much better as you are walking away from the fridge thinking how strong you are in your mind to say no.
Also your weight will naturally go up, yesterday morning when I weighed myself I had put on a little weight, I weighed myself this morning and that weight has gone, infact I am .1 Kilo under the lowest I have been since I started the weight loss (I wont call it a diet because there are more things involved like excersice).
You need to change the way that your mind thinks about food, and the goal that you are going for, and always think of your goal and how good you will feel when you reach your achievement Its like when I have a really bad day at work I just think to myself, well it doesnt matter because tomorrow is another day and today will be forgoten and will end, and that helps me get through the day :)
You may want to suggest to your mom that she can help you by not putting the tempting food where you will see it, you do need support of family and friends .. its very important.
Stick with it .. you wont see changes over night, but over several months you will as long as you dont cheat ..
And as to your hoola hoop .. I think thats a great idea :)... I just started to play squash and I am rubbish .. but over the few weeks I have been playing I am slowly improving and actually starting to win some points ... again my goal is to beat the guy that is my opponent and I wont stop until I do that, and it will take several months or even a year, but I will get there... Stick with the hoola hoops even if you cant do it and there will be a point where it just clicks and it will work ... when that point happens come on here and tell us all :)..
Well done with drinking water all night, a lot of people couldnt do that :)
I think my weight might jump around a bit more also because im a girl and im my mam said that our weight goes up slightly at that time of the month but i don't know if she is just making it up. Im trying to only weigh myself once a week to stop the dissappointment when it goes up.
I try to think of my goal and imagine the feeling when I reach it, some times it works but sometimes i think, what the hell ill never reach it anyway. Its strange because im really close, I only want to loose a few lbs but I just cant do it, the closest Ive been is 2.5 lbs away and that was last week but it has got up again, so confuzing.
And Im still at my nannas house so I feel really awkward asking her to change things just for me, but I will mention it.
And yeah, with the hula hoop im sure that one day it will just click and I will just do it, but I am going to buy another one as a dont think that one is heavy enough, it just wont spin properly
Thanks for the advice :)
Good luck with your weightloss!

well I first thought to loose weight and eat healthy last year ... now if I did it then I would be at my goal now ... so thinking you will never get there and want to give up is the wrong way to think because this time next year when you start your next weight loss because you are unhappy about your weight you will be thinking to yourself that you wished you didn't give it up 12 months ago ...I know I wish I actually started last year :)..
It will be hard work, and your weight will naturally go up and down, I noticed that the day after I play squash my weight gous down quite alot, but the next day its gone back up some ... this happens everytime I play squash ... you just have to look at the results at the end of every month and see what your graph looks like .. and hopefully it should over the month be going down, with a few ups and downs along the way .. :)
Yeah, very true, I will not give up because I will regret it. The more treats I eat the longer it will take to reach my goal and I dont want that so I will be good.
There, thats proof that I have said it, you have permission to shout at me if I break it lol :)

I will .. as long as you are honest and tell us when you break it ... dont forget you can have one treat meal every week (as long as its not excessive) ... well thats what I do and I usually leave it for a saturday because thats when I go out and it puts me in a good mood :).. I also find if you want something sweet then a simple strawbery milkshake will stop the craving, I now only put half the amount of syrup into the glass, it tastes a little week to start with but now I have gotten used to the taste :)..
I will tell you but I dont think I will stop now.
Yeah ive been having one treat meal a week, I had hot dogs last week lol ;)
And if I get peckish ive started having a really small portion of something like a small hand full of dry cereal because I know I will feel guilty if I eat anymore, its quite good.
:D
