Hi my name is rehanna and im new here, i would like to meet others on this site and share experiences and point of views. Yes i am unhealthy and over weight and my gaol is to love myself the way I am and in return love myself enough to do what is best for myself which includes eating healthy. I feel once you can nurture yourself in loving way not only do feel better but you look better and you achieve happiness when you change yourself for the right reasons.

Hi, I 'm new too, well I've been coming to the website about 2 weeks now and its great. I haven't really made any buddies yet but I've enjoyed reading the different posts and getting other people point of views of weight loss, food, etc. Its nice! So are you trying to lose, gain, or maintain. I'm on the "losing" team!

Hi Rehanna, and everyone else! I'm new here too.. just joined yesterday... A little about me... I'm a guy, 5 ft 10... and used to be in rocking shape... was 186-192 pounds and just 10.5 % body fat... but that was when I was in my 20s, had no kids.. no life.. and spent 4 hrs a night - 6 nights a week in the gym doing everything from aerobics to martial arts, swimming, lifting, etc.  Now however - I'm a single dad of two kids.. I work full time, plus run a business... and I'm 46 yrs old... I now weigh in at 229 pounds, and my BMI is 32!  I must be up around 24-25% body fat!  Yikes...

I do exercise alot - 5 days a week I either run or do the elliptical for 20+ minutes each day, plus lift each muscle group twice a week... My problem I think is I have an eating disorder.. I really like food! hehe.. Somehow, someway I need to figure out a way to eat less... alot less!

I just had my physical, and my doctor told me I was in really good shape - for a fat person!  Geez... he doesn't mince words much huh?  But - he's right... I told him I just couldn't lose the weight... and he told me that if that was the case, then he wanted to take me to the guineas book of records, because I was a miracle... He said that it is simple math - if you burn 1 more calorie then you take in, you will lose weight - the other way - you gain it...

So, now I've started my journey.. My goal is to lose 40 pounds in 5 months... I am hoping to be down to 190 pounds by the start of spring 2010...

Anyway - nice to meet all of you... Hopefully we can all get to our goals together...

Joe

Joe, I lost 35 pounds since March---in 7 months. I *love* good food too!!! So here's what I did: I made a list of best lower calorie/lower fat healthy foods. It has lots of good stuff on it like Breyer's Double Churn Chocolate Ice Cream (110 calories for 1/2 packed cup!), and Pepperidge Farm Flats as a good-tasting substitute for bread. In sum, I'm eating lots of good food that I like.

Hungry Girl (of cookbook fame) has a web site. I know other guys who've signed on for their daily e-mail---it's free and they list good-tasting low cal. products.  www.hungry-girl.com .   PLUS, you can look in their archives for ideas:  click on "Chew the Right Thing". AND, search for their "shopping list"---it lists all the staples you'll need.

I like my Buttery Burst Smart Balance spray better than the spray butter they suggest---it was great on corn on the cob. Coke Zero's better than regular Coke, imo. Lots of fruits and veggies. Oh, J & D's Bacon Salt adds flavor to corn, veggies, everything. I order this at a discount from Amazon.com though they may carry this in your grocery. PopChips sub for potato chips.

Well, what you need is your own list of good stuff.

Good luck, everyone!
