I'm new to dieting and need a weightloss buddy(s)

my name is Ashley, i'm 22 5'6.5 and 160 lbs. I have battled my weight (or let it consume me) for almost 21 years. I was always moderately lazy and really never liked working out, or counting cals or watching what i ate.  I got down to 153 last summer and looked great, through just doing pilates (about an hour every other day) I still ate ridiculous amounts of calories and huge portion sizes though.

I gained 20 lbs over the Chicago winter, and so i decided i was going to try to cut calories down to about 1200-1400 a day instead of the usual 2500-3000 a day (although my recommended caloric intake is 1500) After 2 weeks of doing that i hit 163 and for about 4 weeks i have only lost 2-3 lbs. I think this is my plateau, so i started exercising 3-5 times a week for about 30 mins whether its pilates, situps, or dancing/walking. My goal is to get down to 150 and see where it goes from trhere. I have a large frame for a woman and an hourglass shape not to mention some size d-c or whatever they are now (shrinking) cups.

I am looking for someone who is around the same range, or maybe someone who once was and can give some advice. maybe even a gym/walking Chicago area buddy. My boyfriend is really supportive but at 130 lbs with a metabolism that runs the seed of light, you can eat whatever you want and never gain. So i think it would be good to find someone who is going or went through what i  am.

hey I don't really fit your bill for a weight loss buddy, but just to let you know, you might want to up your calorie intake a little. You shouldn't go below your BMR (which is a little more than 1500) cause that will slow your metabolism down... in fact, your burn is probably about 2000 a day, if not more (just log your activities for the week in the activity log to on CC to find out.) I'd say that it might be 2300~2500? Don't go below your BMR, don't have a deficit of more than 1000, and you ought to be able to avoid plateaus for quite a while. (: The recommended deficit is 500cals (you might want to bump it up a tad to leave some margin for error in calorie counting, if you don't have the nutrition information for most things that you're logging). On that, you should be able to lose about a pound a week! (: Good luck!

Well I'm 5'2 and about 136lbs so I need to lose about 20lbs. So I'm probably not a good buddy either. But what you're doing is the right thing. Whenever you reach you plateau you should always change things up. You only have 10lbs pounds to lose so the best thing to is cut your calories and increase your exercise. Once you get close to your goal slowly increase your intake.
